Biology 11 Final Exam - Long Response Question (30 marks)

Biology 11 can be broadly divided into three major themes: Diversity, Interdependence, and Evolution.

Choose one of the four major Kingdoms (Monera, Protista, Plantae, Animalia) studied throughout this course and discuss how each theme applies.

For each theme choose 3-4 topics, ideas or processes to discuss in detail.
Your answer should include specific examples of organisms, structures and processes relevant to each theme.
You may answer in any format you choose (essay, concept map, point form, etc).
It is expected that you will review your notes and other sources prior to the exam in preparation of your response. You may bring in one hand-written 5x7 index card for reference.
While collaboration with peers and researching outside sources are encouraged, you are expected to provide a response without plagiarism or obvious similarities to the work of another individual.

Your discussion of diversity, interdependence and evolution with regards to your chosen kingdom will be graded using the following rubric (for a total of 30 marks):

2	The student has a basic understanding of the question.	The response reflects little or no synthesis of information.	The supporting details are adequate.	The use of accurate scientific terminology may be present in the response.	Response lacks organization and is difficult to follow flow of ideas.
1	The student has some understanding of the question.	The response addresses the question.	The supporting details are only minimally effective.	The use of accurate scientific terminology is not present in the response.	Ideas are scattered, organization is unclear.
	The student has no understanding of the question or problem. The response is completely incorrect or irrelevant.
