Story of Seasons – Trio of Towns Info Guide
Beginning & Story
When you first start, you will have the chance to customize your character, including hair color, skin color, eye color, name, and birthday. You can also select a trait that offers a bonus.
The traits are:
- 動物大好き(Animal Lover) – Each time you get a new animal it will already have 1 heart of affection.
- 釣り人(Fisherman) – You begin the game with higher fishing skill and a record of 20 fish caught, giving you the ability to catch better fish at a faster rate.
- スポーツマン(Sportsman) – You begin the game with an extra heart of stamina.
- お金持ち(Rich) – You begin the game with 50,000g.
- 人気者(Popular) – You begin the game with ½ a heart for all villagers, and a full heart for all marriage candidates of the opposite gender. Each new villager you meet will have ½ a heart, as well.
There are also two other traits that you can get after you’ve cleared the game once with town community rankings at “Rank A” and begin again with the data.
They are:
- 運動不足 (Lack of Exercise) – You only have 2 hearts worth of stamina to begin with. Recommended for those who want a big challenge.
- ミラクル(Miracle) – You carry over your money, stamina, relationships, farm rank, trophies, clothing, recipes, and cooking level from your prior save file.
The story begins with a memory of you visiting a farm with your mother, Marina. This is where you first got your dream of being a farmer. Flash forward to the present. Your father, Darius, announces that your family must move again to a new town due to his work. You take this opportunity to say that you’d like to become independent from the family. At first, your father thinks it is a good idea, until he hears about your ambition to become a farmer.
Thinking it to be an unbecoming career and that you don’t have nearly enough experience to succeed, he opposes it. The two of you argue for a while, and after several weeks you are about to depart for your new farming life despite his point of view.
You travel to Westown, where you stay with your Uncle Frank, who is supporting your dreams of becoming a farmer. After a tutorial, you are given free reign over your farm and Westown. Two other towns are nearby, but the gates have been broken and it will be a while before they are fixed.
There are two main aspects to progressing the storyline:

Farm Advice
Starting on the first of summer, you will receive tasks that will help you win the approval of your father and prove to him that you can, indeed, be a kickass farmer.
First Set
You will receive these from Frank on the first of summer in your first year. The list can be accessed in the menu.
- 作物を3種類育てよう!: Grow and harvest any three crops in your farm’s field.
- ウシを2頭飼おう!: Have two cows.
- 増築しよう!: Extend your house once. (Can be done from Ludus’ shop for 20 large lumber and 10 small lumber.)
Rewards
- Stamina will be increased by one heart.
- The west end of your ranch will be unlocked.
- You will be able to wrap gifts at Miranda’s store, Pore Pore store in Lulukoko, and at the Daikokuya and general store in Tsuyukusa.
- New animals will be unlocked, including:

Given to you about 7-10 days after clearing the first set.

Third Set
- 町コミュランクを上げよう!: Raise a town’s community rank (possibly all towns’ community ranks?) to a “B” or above.
- ブランドを9回上げよう!: Have 9 branded products. This means you must win festivals with 9 different items.
- いっぱい出荷しよう!: Ship over 500,000g worth of goods.
- 作物・副産物を出荷しよう!: Ship over 1,000 crops and animal products.
- Mr.Dに認められよう!: After winning any crop or animal competition at the veteran rank, win against Mr. D at the expert rank competition or above.
Rewards
- Stamina will be increased by one heart.
- Scottie cats, weimaraner dogs, patterned horse, available in Westown
- The underground field, which is essentially the same as the greenhouse in prior games, is now unlocked.
- You will get increased luck when mining (?)
Town Community Rank
The other aspect to the game’s main storyline is the town community rank, which will be introduced to you by Frank on Spring 5th of your first year. You have a relationship with each of the three towns, Westown, Lulukoko, and Tsuyukusa.
This relationship is measured by ranks, ranging from E to S, and can be improved by:
- Befriending characters who live in the town.
- Taking part time jobs.
- Shipping items to a particular town (you can select which town to ship to by interacting with your shipping bin. You select which one you want, and the next morning it will be changed.)
- Shopping in town.
- Participating in town festivals.
- Eating with characters.
By improving these ranks, you can unlock new buyable items, animals, story events, and festivals that are particular to each town. After gradually raising the rank level for each town, when you reach the limit for the next level, that town’s ranking meter will be become locked. In order to unlock it and achieve the next ranking level, you must complete certain tasks.

Characters
There are over forty characters in Trio of Towns, and 11 marriage candidates total. Furthermore, if you have ambitions of getting all of your towns to the “S Rank” community level, you will never to maximize friendship with each of these characters. Friendships levels can be checked in your bookshelf at home, and each character has a maximum of 5 hearts of affection.

Crops
The crop system is quite similar to how it was in A New Beginning and Story of Seasons, with several notable changes. One large change is in how the quality of the crop is calculated. You can unlock the sale of mature crops in stores by selling between 10-30 of most crops. It hasn’t been confirmed if this works for all crops.
There is no longer a freshness value, but instead there are qualities for each crop:
· Color / gloss (色ツヤ)
· Sweetness / fragrance (甘味・かおり)
· Moisture (水分量)
· Size (サイズ)
Fertilizer
Each of the above qualities can be raised to up to 100% using the corresponding fertilizer. The overall quality of the crop is assessed from the mean of these percentage values. Fertilizer can be used once a day on a particular crop or tree. Crops and fruit trees will have all these qualities. Flowers, grains, and tea leaves will have all but size. Crops grown on the rice paddy and mushrooms will have only color and sweetness. Crops like cotton and flax will only have color. Fertilzier can be purchased from Miranda’s store, as well as the general store stall in Tsuyukusa.
About fertilizers you can buy:
· Color is raised + 3.34% by using the pikarin fertilizer (ぴかりんひりょう)
· Sweetness is raised + 3.34% by using the ama-ama fertilizer (あまあまひりょう)
· Moisture is raised + 3.34% by either watering twice a day or using the juicy fertilizer (ジューシーひりょう)
· Size is raised + 3.34% by using the gun-gun fertilizer (ぐんぐんひりょう)

The fertilizer maker is a farm circle that can be used to create fertilizer more efficiently and also types that you cannot purchase in the store. It is unlocked by clearing the farm advice level 1 and requires 15 brown cloth, 10 iron, and 5 blue cloth to make.

The Water Fertilizer Maker
The water fertilizer can be used to create fertilizer that is used in tandem with your watering can. This means your crops will automatically fertilized after watering. Note that if you use this, you will not be able to add more fertilizer afterward. This farm circle is unlocked by clearing the Farm Advice 2 and requires Glass stone × 20, Copper × 20, Gold × 15, Moon Stone × 5, and Orichalcum × 1 to make.
Growing Crops
Each crop you plant must be put into a hoed space on a field, then watered at least once daily. On rainy days and during typhoons, you will not need to water your crops. Typhoons and snow storms will damage the quality of your crops, as well. If you water your crops twice a day, the moisture quality will gradually increase. Trees and tea bushes take up one full field space and do not require watering.
Crops planted in the paddy field will require only occasional watering. After clearing Tsuyukusa Rank C, the fukafuka field will be available to make at Ludus’s shop. This field will significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to grow crops, so upgrade to them as quickly as possible to get those sweet, sweet profits.
Most crops go through standard growth where you will water them until harvest and then they are gone from the field (ex: carrots, onions) or return to the stage where they can regrow (ex: green pepper, strawberry.)
However, there are certain crops that regrow that follow a slightly different pattern than previous games. With this type of crop, the vine will produce crops gradually. For instance, on the first day it is ready, you can harvest a single crop. If you water it again in this state, the next day it will have more. If harvested then, you will gather around 4-5. If watered again, it will grow to its final state, where the most crops can be harvested.

In Trio of Towns, there are a total of 11 marriage candidates: 5 bachelors, 5 bachelorettes, and Inari-chama, whose gender is always the opposite of your main character’s. As usual, there are a variety of events and requirements that you must go through before you can get hitched. The first step is to see all of the flower events for your character. You can even see 2 of the events for characters of your same gender, which are more of friendship events rather than romance. You must see the events in order, meaning that, for instance, you can’t see the “light blue”event until you’ve seen the “purple.”
After you see all of your chosen character’s flower events up until yellow-green, you will be able to confess with the pendant or trigger a reverse confession. When you raise a candidate’s flower color/affection total to the full five hearts, you will not be able to increase it further until you begin a romantic relationship with them. In addition, there is a point value for “attention” in this game, which is required to trigger certain events. This can be raised by speaking to them every day and giving gifts.
