I've seen a bunch of posts online, where people are mad that Blizz is charging $40 for Beta Access. In my brain, it was probably worth $40 just to FINALLY play this game (been on the list since it was announced), but people aren't counting all the stuff it comes with: (I'm sure this is on Reddit or something, but I just threw it together)

Seems like a good deal to me! I've only played for a couple hours, as I'm insanely busy, but I've had an absolute blast so far!

Strategy

Part 1: Welcome to the Nexus Newbies

Pool of Heroes for Founders Pack Players :

• Diablo
• Tyrande
• Raynor

Before Playing :

• Try a Hero first before you take it into a real game.
• Know the Kill Order
• You can not click on heroes you don't control in game but you can hit Tab to bring up the score screen and click on Talents to see your team’s and the opposing team’s talent builds.

This Game Is Different :

• Do NOT Just Sit in a Lane all Game and Push
• Farming in lane alone is pretty much the last thing you want to do in the mid and late game
• Don't go it Alone
• The Main Map Objective Comes First. Always, end of discussion
• You can cast many of your spells on buildings
• Hearthstone often to heal up or mana up
• Heal and Mana Up before objectives
• Explore other lane combinations. The middle lane does not need to be the solo lane, all lanes gain experience at the same speed.
• Towers, Forts, Keeps DO NOT detect cloaked units.
• Cloaked units are still slightly visible as a shimmer and can be hit by skillshots and aoe spells.
• Early Game watch towers dont matter.

Maps are Small : skip

• Missing calls are mostly useless.
• Ganks can come at anytime.
• Mounts can get you around the map VERY quickly

Use On Screen Information :

• Use Your Mini Map
• Count the number of enemies vs the number of nearby allies
• Check your enemy's level constantly.
• Do NOT engage any enemy who is level 10 and you are not

As in Any Moba :

• Communicate with your Team
• Learn When to Engage and When to Back-Off
• Don't go it Alone
• There is body blocking in this game.

Tips and Tricks :

• Spacebar centers your screen on your hero with a ray of light
• Mage lane minions drop regen globes
• Pressing C shows your hero stats
• A light blue eye means you are hidden. A red eye means you are seen.
• Y - Opens the social menu
• V - Calls a retreat
• G + Left Click opens radial ping menu.
• 500g for getting a hero to level 5.

Hey dudes,

Long-time fan from the pre-launch Starcast days and listener to a bunch of AMove shows.

I wanted to say that I hadn't quite had much fun SoloQ-ing Heroes until Hero League came along. Maybe it's the fact that absolutely new players are excluded until they gain more experience, or the fact the others may not be playing their best characters, but in general games have more fun than in the past. I find there is a tad less bitching and raging at a loss. I'm very happy with it so far.

Additionally, I wanted to make an observation: it feels (bolded for emphasis because this is not empirical) that when I have earlier draft picks, I am playing with players better than I am. And it feels like when I have the final draft pick, I am just about the strongest player on the team. Do you know whether or not your drafting pick position is related to your hidden MMR?

This would make sense as you want the better players to pick last as they are more likely to be best with the most characters, bringing stability to the team. Meanwhile you want the "worst" player using the character he or she is best with.
