Dear Incoming Britton Sixth Graders:

        The sixth grade teachers of Britton Middle School are looking forward to meeting you in August!  Many students and parents have asked about what supplies students will need as they embark on their middle school adventure.  The following is a list of suggested supplies:

General Supplies

-earbuds or small headphones

- a three ring binder with 6 dividers        

- binder paper

- red pens

- blue or black ink pens

- pencils with erasers

- colored pencils, crayons, thin markers

- scissors

- glue sticks

- highlighters

- a box/pouch for supplies

Language Arts

- 4 blue spiral notebooks

(one for each quarter)

- 2 composition books

(one for each semester)

Social Studies

- 4 red spiral notebooks

Math

- thin whiteboard markers

- a notebook containing

graph paper

- 4 black spiral notebooks

Science

- 2 green spiral notebooks

Summer Expectations:  All incoming sixth graders are expected to practice their academic skills during the summer.  Suggestions for daily skills practice: Read for 20 minutes every day (both fiction and nonfiction), keep a daily journal or write a complex story (using correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling), practice math skills via the internet, a workbook, or flashcards, and conduct science experiments (with supervision!).  Don’t forget to play outside, swim, ride your bike or scooter, jump rope, splash in the sprinklers, and enjoy your summer!
