Juan Roberto Diago Durruthy Cuban Contemporary Artist. Influenced by his own past, in his work he confronts the Cuban official racial narrative, rewriting history to include the slavery and shame the country has tried to forget, working with material like calico in reference to what slaves used to wear.
Coco Fusco Cuban-American interdisciplinary artist, writer, and curator. Fusco's work explores gender, identity, race, and power through performance, video, interactive installations, and critical writing.
Tania Bruguera is a Cuban politically motivated performance artist. She lives and works between New York and Havana.
Belkis Ayón was a Cuban printmaker who specialized in the technique of collography. Ayón is known for her highly detailed allegorical collographs based on Abakuá, a secret, all-male Afro-Cuban society.
