Wine Tasting Sign Up!

1. Athletes & Families:  Please enter through the YMCA and Wheaton entrances.  Do not enter through the doors that are associated with the Aquatic Center.  Additionally, please do not unlock / uncatch the doors without the paddles to exit.  This is a security concern for all of the participants on the WSAC teams and members of the YMCA.  You are welcome to exit through the WSAC doors.  Thank you for your help and understanding.

2. Custom name caps are now available to order at Elsmore.  Please stop in this week and place your order.  They will be accepting orders until 10/14.  We are holding off on ordering any other team gear until we finalize a contract with a vendor (currently TYR).  

3. Please sign up for the following meets ASAP.  Listed below are the deadline dates for the meets that are coming up.

• Mini-Meet - 10/9/13 - please make sure you have signed up for the meet & spaghetti - there are two separate sign ups (look lower down)
• Pabst Farms - 10/16/13

4. Swim Team Family Work Requirements have been updated to reflect new groups and our hosted meet schedule - it is linked within the Swim Team Handbook and Here - The sign up is now open. Just a reminder that the Y-Invite does not count toward work requirements. It is set up as a training meet to learn various positions.

5. A room block has been established for the 2014 13 & O state meet which will be in Pleasant Prairie.  The meet is Thur - Sun and the the hotel is the Holiday Inn Express.  The group is under “Schroeder YMCA Swim Team” and the rate is $127 + tax.  There are 8 doubles and 9 kings w pull out.  Call 262 942 6000 to reserve a room which must be done on or before 2/6/14.  You might also want to check out other properties in the area.

8. Carmel Meet Room Info:  All families who reserved a room in the team block of rooms should have received an email with the room list attached.  Please review your reservation.  If you did not receive it, contact Coach Bob.

Schroeder North

1. Practice for Friday and Saturday will be SCY with the Pentathlon Meet on Saturday morning.  Sr1 and Sr2 will train at 7:00 - 9:00 AM SCY, have dryland at 9:10 - 9:50 and then race the 50 at 10 AM - keep your suit on!

Schroeder South

1. This Week’s Practices:

A) Saturday, 10/12 Practice/Meet Info

• All Senior 1 swimmers who are only swimming the 50 Free should practice from 7-9 am at WSAC.  At 9:45, they will swim the 50 Free and then can leave.
• All other swimmers have warm-up at 9 am and the meet begins at 9:45.
• If your swimmer is not in the meet this Saturday, 10/12, there is no practice for any group due to all of the coaches being at the meet.

2. SST Pentathlon Meet @WSAC this Saturday, 10/12:

        For our new families, the address of the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center is located on the right side of the home page of the web site.  Look for the red box/Contact Us! Map.

        Drive to the back of the complex, (behind the Rite-Hite YMCA and Wheaton Franciscan building), park, and go into the aquatic center entrances (what you often see us refer to as the WSAC).

        Swimmers should plan on being in the water at 9:00 a.m. for warm-ups.

3. Signing Up For Meets (there are now a number of meets available

to  enter, please check entry deadline and do so asap):

• Parents are reminded ALL SWIMMERS MUST COMMIT OR DECLINE by the entry deadline for each meet and ALL SWIMMERS are expected to participate in all meets listed for their group on the meet schedule.

• To enter a meet, click on the swim team home page, and scroll down to the list of meets.  Click on “Attend/Decline” for the meet (enter password if necessary).
• Then click on Undeclared Athletes, scroll to your swimmer’s name, click on the name, commit (put yes) in the declaration box, and click on the save changes box.
• Once the swimmer is committed, you may choose the swimmer’s events or have the coach choose the events (recommended).
• If your swimmer cannot attend, follow the previous steps and put no in the declaration box.  Please use the message box to explain why the swimmer is not participating, and then click on the save changes box.

4. Mini-Meet and Spaghetti Dinner on October 17th at WSAC

• This meet is for Age Group 2, Age Group 3, Super 8’s, Schroeder Stars and Super Stars.  Please enter as soon as possible.  The entry deadline is October 9th.  ALL SWIMMERS MUST COMMIT OR DECLINE BY THE 10/9 DEADLINE.
• The meet information doesn’t state this, but there will be 25 yard (1 length) events for 8 & under swimmers.  All 9 & over swimmers will be swimming 50 yards (2 lengths).
• An optional spaghetti dinner is planned after the meet for $7.50 per person.  Click on the meet name for more details and to sign up - spaghetti form is lower down.  You must sign up in advance for the dinner, and you will pay at the door.

5. Other Important Meet Info:

• A number of other meets are now open for swimmers to commit to. (Please see above info for meet sign-up.)  Also, volunteer job sign-up for families is now available for our Schroeder Y Invite and Schroeder Finalist meets.  Make sure you take care of your volunteer requirements by signing up for a job.
• Parents, please remember Coach Bob automatically commits and enters all Senior 1 and Junior 1 swimmers to the meets on their schedule.  Swimmers in all other groups are expected to participate in ALL of the meets on their group’s schedule and must commit by the meet entry deadline.  Swimmers who decline a meet are expected to communicate the reason why in the message box.  If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask.

6. Team Equipment Info:

        Just a reminder, we would like all swimmers to wear a solid black suit  when they compete in meets.  They can wear any suit they choose in practice.

      Coach Bob will have fins and Schroeder swim caps at practice this week and next.  If you need either, check with Bob before or after practice.
