Ideas to Motivate Students Doing The Work

  • Class, grade level, and school wide competitions for usage of blended learning programs that teachers/schools can track, for event participation and honors once students return to school.
  • Encourage family members to set goals and earned incentives (e.g. dance party break, favorite movie or snack after finishing tasks) with students at the start of each learning day.
  • Create a calendar with activities listed and a place for a reflection on the day’s lessons (or parent signature). If students in an entire class return the work and the reflections/signature, they earn a class incentive upon return to school.
  • For students who struggle with independent stamina, try using a stamina graph like this to help students track their minutes on task. If they demonstrate improvement overall, they can earn a place on the “stamina strengthener” bulletin board upon return to school.
  • Engage students with a weekly theme and daily activity tied to a work of art (visual, music, dance, theatre, etc.) that is connected to a subject/theme being explored in another academic area. Break the week up into: Masterpiece Monday, Technical Tuesday, World Wednesday, Theatrical Thursday, Flashback Friday. Click here for steps, samples, and resources.
