Dear Mrs Laszlo

I return the statement which I have read. It is of no use for me to express any opinion on it, but it appears to me convincing.

I hope that when the advisory committee come to reconsider your husband’s case, they may advise the Home Secretary[1] in favour of his release. In the meanwhile I think the way to look at the whole matter is that the Home Secretary

considers that in view of your husband’s correspondence with friends in Hungary, he is bound to treat him as though he were still a Hungarian and in that case no doubt he would be interned.

Yours sincerely

James W. Lowther
