7th Annual FSW After Work Summer Flute Camp

A Music Camp for the Busy Adult Amateur Flutist

July 15- July 19, 2013

Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church

The Adult Summer Camp was designed by the Flute Society of Washington to give the busy adult amateur flutist a summer camp in the evening. You’ll get a chance to play, practice and study with other adult amateurs, meet new flute playing friends and develop further as a flutist..

The camp will be held at the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church on Chevy Chase Circle in Washington, DC.  There is ample parking available and the Friendship Heights Metro Station is a short ride away.  Tuition: $125   Note:  At least 10 adults must sign up in order for us to have the class.

New this year:

1. One 30 minute lesson with either David Lonkevich or Debbie Gilbert will be offered as part of your tuition prior to the start of class, either from 6:00-6:30 or 6:30-7:00PM.  Please contact Debbie Gilbert at to select a teacher and set up a time.

2.  Masterclass sessions will be taught by Debbie Gilbert and David Lonkevich on topics such as getting the most out of your practice time, intonation and vibrato.

We will, of course, continue to play flute choir music and chamber music.

This year the camp will again feature two exceptional artists as coaches.

Debbie Gilbert is the artistic director of the Woodbridge Flute Choir and principal flutist with the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra.  She has taught private lessons to youth and adults for over 20 years and is a six time winner in the NFA Professional Flute Choir Competition. Debbie studied with Max Schoenfeld, Jeanne Timm, Thomas Perazolli, Toshiko Kohno and Tadeu Coelho.

David Lonkevich received his B.M. from The Manhattan School of music.  He has studied with Julius Baker, Jeanne Baxtresser, Michael Parloff, and Ransom Wilson.  He teaches at George Washington University and the Washington Conservatory of Music. He has performed with with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and is principal flute with the National Theater Orchestra and the Wolf Trap Opera.  He also performs regularly with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and performs recitals at the Austrian Embassy, and the French Embassy as part of the “Embassy Series.”

Please check the FSW website at to sign up.

Powell Sonaré Flute Sales Position

Powell is looking for a passionate musician who can use that positive energy to expand the network of music stores who sell our various lines of Sonaré flutes and piccolos. By adding this new position, we will be able to provide more attention and better service to our flute dealers.

The Sonaré Flute Sales person will be part of our sales team and participate in meetings of sales and marketing staff for all Powell products and brands. This is primarily an inside position which utilizes the telephone and CRM systems. Expect to travel about 1 week a month.

High energy, passion and a sales personality are the most important requirements. If you have prior sales experience in music, entertainment, consumer products/services, and/or selling to retail establishments that would be beneficial. Flutists are preferred but we will consider musicians who play other wind instruments.

Compensation is roughly 2/3 base salary and 1/3 commission. Powell's benefits include 401(k), health, dental, life and disability insurance (majority of insurance premiums are company paid).

The Powell Sonaré Sales position is based in our Maynard, Massachusetts location. Please send your resume and a cover letter, by e-mail or US mail, to:
