Cell Energy - Chloroplasts and Mitochondria

This activity will help you organize and process the knowledge you have learned about cell energy. Use any resources you need to complete the following.

  1. Draw, color, and label a chloroplast and a mitochondrion in the space below.

  1. Chloroplasts use light energy during photosynthesis. Add a light source to your drawing with an arrow going from the light source to the chloroplast.
  2. Chloroplasts give off oxygen (O2) and produce glucose (C6H12O6) during photosynthesis. Mitochondria use oxygen (O2) and glucose (C6H12O6) during cellular respiration. Add this information to your diagram.
  3. During cellular respiration, mitochondria produce ATP. Add this information to your diagram.
  4. Besides light energy, what do chloroplasts use to make glucose?
