FAQ’s

  • How long will camp be?

We have planned for the YCL’s (10th-12th graders) to go up on Monday to get everything set up and organized. The rest of the campers will arrive Tuesday and we will head home Saturday morning.

  • How will the bathrooms be appropriate for co-ed use?

The bathroom has a dividing wall with completely separate bathrooms. One side will be for boys and one side will be for the girls. They will be clearly marked.

  • What are the sleeping arrangements?

The boys and men will be sleeping in the first pod of cabins and the girls and women will be sleeping in the pod after the bathrooms (see the map). We will be organizing cabins into ages. No adults will be sleeping in the youth cabins.

  • Why are the 12-13 year olds invited to an overnight camp?

The handbook allows overnight camp for 12+. Ultimately, that will be up to each parent to decide if ttheir youth can handle that. We also wanted to include everyone in this opportunity to gather the youth and have an amazing spiritual experience with Brad Wilcox and with our stake.

  • Will there be medical staff?

We will have one full time nurse on staff and one backup. They are fully trained and capable to handle any emergency as well as day to day concerns, including medications needed by the youth at camp.

  • Can you accommodate different food allergies?

Our cooks will have options for gluten and dairy free diets. If you feel more comfortable sending your child with their own food that can be arranged.

  • Will cell phones be taken away?

We cannot take cell phones away. We would like to encourage our youth to  leave them in their cabins or even leave them at home. Leaders will have phones that are available to the youth as needed.  We will also give them beads each day that they don’t touch their phones. No phones are allowed in the bathrooms. The YCL’s and adults assigned to each group will help monitor phone use throughout the camp.

  • Will there be activities that both boys and girls will like?

They will have lots of choices. Physical activities, crafts, spiritual and intellectual offerings will be available for all.

  • Will there be adult leaders monitoring camp at night?

Yes. We will take turns walking camp at all hours.

  • Will the kids be allowed in the lake whenever they want?

No! The lake is closed when there is not a lifeguard on duty. Each youth that goes in the lake hangs up their id necklace everytime they get in the lake so that we can monitor who is in the lake when we are swimming.

  • Will there be enough chaperones?

We will be organized in families for activities and competitions. Each family will have a mom and dad over the group in addition to the Youth camp leaders. In addition to these adults, we will have the stake YM & YW presidencies as well as the stake presidency. We have adults coming from each ward, so your youth will always have someone they can rely on.

  • How will you handle situations when rules are broken?

We will have strict rules and consequences. The YCL’s helped to create the rules for camp, which are the same rules as FSY.  We will go over these rules with the kids at camp kickoff and when they arrive at camp.  If they are caught sneaking out of their cabins at night, (other than to go to the bathroom) they will be sent home.
