Your long letter gave me great pleasure, partly in that it demonstrated that you still think fondly of me and partly also for the good news contained in it. Congratulations first and fore-

most on the award you received from the Prince Regent and I wish you the very best of fortune in all that is most important: an appetite for work, application and perseverance, which allied to your brilliant talent will endow the world with superb masterpieces and take you to

great heights. Won’t you tell me what the subject of your big picture is to be? I am very curious to know. It’s a fine thing, incidentally, that Liezen-Mayer is sitting to you [4787], that will be enormously to your advantage.

Has your health improved at all? One cannot work with a headache. Perhaps it would be advisable for you to spend a great deal of time each day in the fresh

air.

I played in Sopron a few days ago, to great acclaim. The hall was packed and the audience very appreciative. I was given a splendid laurel wreath.

Oh yes! Thank you for the nice photograph; it will be a fine memento. When do you go to Paris? I might go there at the end of June.

Kimerítő soraiddal nagy örömet szereztél nekem, egyrészt, mert a mellett bizonyítanak, hogy még szívesen gondolsz reám, másrészt pedig a jó újság[ok?] (cut off by scan)] által, melyek bennök közölsz. Gratulálok min-

denekelőtt a kitüntetéshez, melyben a regensherczeg részesített és szerencsét kívánok ahhoz a mi legfontosabb a nagy munkakedv- és szorgalom- és kitartáshoz, mely szép tehetségeddel párosulva szép műremekeket fog ajándékozni a világnak és magas fokra

fog vinni téged. Nem íród mi tulajdonképen sujet–je-nagy képednek? Kíváncsi vagyok reá. Az is nagyon szép dolog ám, hogy Lieczenmeyer ül neked, az nagy hasznodra lesz.

Hát egészségileg jobban vagy-e már? Főfájással nem lehet ám dolgozni. Jó lenne talán, ha sokat járnál naponta a szabad

levegőn.

E napokban játsztam Sopronban szép sikerrel, a terem tömve, a publicum nagyon lelkes, egy remek babérkoszorút is kaptam.

Igaz! Köszönöm még a szép fotografiát, mely szép emlék marad nekem. Mikor mégysz Párisba? Én talán jún. végén.
