Monash Biological Society wish a happy 21st Birthday to our amazing secretary Annie Zeleznikow!

1. Otway Tree Planting

Tree planting in order to revegetate the beautiful Ottway ranges on the 14th and 15th of June. There will also be free camping or discounts on staying in cabins in Bimbi Park and a pizza night to reward volunteers! 2.  Maldon Cactus Injecting Trip and The Mornington Peninsula Camp

We are running two camps during the holidays, The Maldon Cactus injecting trip and the Mornington Peninsula camp. Both of these camps are free of charge apart from the cost of the communal meals we provide. These camps make real differences to areas threatening to become overrun with invasive species. Campers have so much fun in joining this friendly environmentalist community and every camp we will play games and visit the beach or the penguin parade (free of cost). Stay tuned for more information, another newsletter will be sent out with sign up forms and facebook events will be created soon.

3. Placement Adcock Laboratory - applications close the 27th of June

If you are interested in noise modelling for environmental impact assessments this placement is for you! One student will be accepted and should be a first, second or third year studying environmental science with geomatics. Knowledge of GIS would be essential. Some reimbursement will be given to the successful applicant. To apply send the attached document in before the 27th of June, 2014.

4. Placement DEPI Laboratory - Applications close on the 13th of June

A placement at Latrobe university for a student studying biology and ecology. The aim of this placement is to identify downfalls in Victorias ability to respond to a Dutch Elm disease incursion. No field work will be completed.

5. Monash University Community Farm and Garden

For anyone interested in gardening and growing the Monash University Community farm or Monash Permaculture Gardens has working bees for Monash students!

MUC farm - After Wednesday the 16th, Every Wednesday at 4 to 6 pm, you can dig, water and harvest your own vegetables!

700 Blackburn road (rear), Clayton. Or if you’re directionally challenged meet on the Wholefoods steps at 3.45 to walk there with a group of other students

Permaculture gardens - Every Monday at 11 -12

Ever pass that small garden of flowers and herbs near the first year Chem labs? Every Monday at 11 you have the chance to help tend it!
