HCT EU Winter Championships
- Unusual lead-up: all pro players eliminated in preliminaries (Kolento, Gaara, Rdu, Xixo, Neirea, Ostkaka, Thijs, Hoej, Powder, Sjow, SuperJJ); most remaining players are hobbyists
- Results: Naiman 1st, DrHippi 2nd (both Hunter players ^_^), pokrovac and BunnyHoppor 3rd/4th
- Notable player stories
- DrHippi’s Freeze Mage ladder play, otherwise mystery
- Pokrovac’s prodigy, trained by StanCifka, only player to take Priest
- Tars’s joy of the game
- Everyone else’s hobbyist approach
- In 26 matches, (Patron) Warrior banned 12 times; Zoo Lock banned 8 times
- Only other bans were 2 Druid, both by Cereza, and 4 Mage, DrHippi’s Freeze Mage each time
- Druid again most commonly played, 6 out of 8 lineups and 45% of games; 56% wr
- Zoo next most common, 6 out of 8 lineups and 34% of games; 26% wr
- Hunter taken by the two finalists; combined 60% wr (when mirror is taken out); both also only players with Freeze Mage
- Final note: Naiman’s redemption
iTunes Thank You’s
- K4PULET (Canada) - “Im not sure what I meant by that title but this podcast is great despite the incorrect turn one play the title describes. Never just coin and concede. Well unless its turn 15 and all you have is the coin so you might as well just play it and concede. note: If you get to that position in the game you did something wrong, Wait what was i talking about? oh yeah, great podcast. One star. I mean.. Five. Five stars”
- Crime_alley (USA) - “Thanks for your feedback! We will try to keep this podcast as positive and informative as possible. Glad to have you listening!”

Decksplanations
Conquest tournament lineup selection strategy
- Different than ladder: ladder decks need to be good against most decks, tournament decks can be more focused because the meta is more “condensed”
- Deck by deck: Analyzing a deck’s strong and weak matchups and overall win rates; developing a matchup matrix
- Selecting the lineup: Narrowing down decks to balance the strengths and weaknesses of each deck based on expected decks
- Consider: Taking off-meta picks to beat the above strategy
- Best advice of all: If you do nothing else, take the decks you know
- In the Game:
- Ban strategy: identifying where your weakest matchup is in your opponent’s lineup
- Selection order: Start strong, finish consistent
- Studying the opponent: In a large enough tournament, you can study your opponent’s picks to find a pattern. Do they pick a certain deck first? Last? Do they stick with a deck when they lose? If you can predict the pattern, you can try to pick against their expected pick
