PtR: Micro Holidays, Legendary Updates
Microholidays are being tested on the PtR, including three new ones last week:
- scheduled for August 10th
- feature dinosaurs from different expansions ready to stomp you!
- Event Description: The dinosaurs in Un'goro are getting restless. Time to go pay them a visit! For this micro-event, dinosaur elites with 230 million HP will spawn around the zone. Find their locations on the map with a red X.
- There are three Un'goro Elites up at any given time
- Hop into a hot air balloon, enjoy the scenery, and make some new friends!
- You will see red X's marked on your world map indicating a place where you can hop on a Hot Air Balloon for a ride
- They require 3 players to tell the NPC they want a ride before they take off. Just queue up and when 2 other people arrive, you'll head off on a ride around the zone! The NPCs in the balloon will chat with you as you go. You can "get off the ride" at any time - there is a dismount button.
- Rep grind for Sporeggar in Zangarmarsh
- Event Description: "Today, the sporelings of Sporeggar in Zangarmarsh hold their annual mushroom festival. Help them keep the great Fshoo alive as long as possible!"
- You can buy items for Glowcaps (collected around the zone) or you can loot the items during the event
- For every stack of the Fshoo Grow buff present at the time of Fshoo's death, you will be awarded 50 reputation
Legendary items are also seeing some changes to help make all drops feel equal
- “We feel that if a Legendary is only usable in certain situations, it should feel extremely valuable in those situations. Conversely, if a Legendary is nearly always going to increase your overall performance, that increase should be relatively smaller.”
- Addressed the issue of being “spec locked”. Said they are aware but no idea how to fix yet.
- List of nerfs/buffs can be found on WoWhead

Lore
The Feast of Winter Veil
The Reason for the Season
- The story of Winter Veil can be found in game in the form of a quest and a book, The Feast of Winter Veil
- Tauren and dwarves tell the legend of the coming of Winter Veil, the blanketing of the land with snow, signally a season of renewal
- Greatfather Winter was a supernatural being who would walk the land late in the seasons, winter itself would be his billowing cloak. In his wake was the blanketing of the land in snow, and thus it is said that Greatfather Winter would cast his wintry veil over the land.
- The dwarves choose to celebrate the season as a recognition of Greatfather Winter himself. They consider him to be the personification of the titans. They consider their snowy home of Dun Morogh as the prime example of Greatfather Winter's blessings.
- The tauren focus almost entirely on the renewing aspects of the lore, leaving legend worship to those races (as they view it) less in tune with the nature of things. Many tauren choose this time as the right time to give thanks for the blessings of their home in Mulgore.
- The idea of feasting during this time of year is one that traces its origins to the legend itself. As Greatfather Winter walked Azeroth, bringing winter in his wake, it is said he would provide a bounty for those who welcomed his presence. As such, the idea of feasting during the Winter Veil would bring together communities as they shared whatever they had. Typically, a single day of merriment and feasting welcomed the change, all in anticipation of the land's renewal.
- Other cultures have begun to recognize the Feast of Winter Veil as a time of great celebration, though not in the same traditions as the legend bases it in. Customs, often unrelated to anything other than a chance for celebration and gift exchange, have made their way into modern day observation of the season. Even the image of Greatfather Winter is sometimes used, but more as a harbinger of commercial exploit rather than as a supernatural titan.
The Abominable Greench
- The Abominable Greench is a creature who has stolen a shipment of treats from the goblins of Smokywood Pastures (who the tauren and dwarves think is ruining Winter Veil with their commercialism)
- Metzen the Reindeer also needs saving!
- You can find the Greench in his cave in Hillsbrad Foothills, where you and other heroes of Azeroth will need to gather to defeat him, save Metzen, and save the Feast!
- Make sure you defeat him once a day (he’s very persistent) for your chance at some great loot including the Winter’s Grasp and Flames of Ragnaros weapon enhancements
Winter Veil Festivities
- Say hello to Greatfather Winter in your capital city, but don’t forget the milk and cookies!
- Kiss a reveller! They will give you gifts like Mistletoe and Snowflakes that you need to complete all the Winter Veil achievements
- You can travel to Hillsbrad Foothills or Frostfire Ridge, to find piles of snow that you can use to create snowballs. Start a snowball right with your friends!
- Siegecrafter Blackfuse from the SoO raid is also feeling festive! You can visit him on December 25th only to see his merry costume
- Don’t forget to grab your friends and have a go at all the achievements to get your Merrymaker title
Goodies and Gifts
- From December 25th through January 2nd, you can go to your capital city to open the gifts under Greatfather Winter’s tree
- The gift of the year that every hero wants is the Endothermic Blaster!
- If you missed out on any of the gifts from past Winter Veil celebrations, you can find toy vendors who will sell you their old stock
- There are lots of recipes and patterns available for food and clothing, as well as some fun engineering toys that let you make snowballs all year round
- There are 8 pets to collect from your presents

Hello Azerothians! How's your day?
I'm writing in today because I'm getting some bad vibes from some more seasoned WoW players.
I play in a relatively new server (Azralon - US) that launched as soon as Cata hit, which was also when I started playing the game.
I feel that I'm constantly rejected from PUGs and other LFG groups because I'm from this server, and people think that I'm not as good a player as they are because I started playing the game later.
Also because it's a Brazilian server, and it seems like many people do not enjoy playing with us, because they think we're all trolls and are there only to make their run even harder than they already may be.
It even got to the point of group leaders whispering me saying things like: "You suck bc you're from this server, never pug again".
This makes playing the game really hard, specially because I play pretty much alone all the time.
What do you guys think about that?

Hi guys,
Love your new show, it gives me my lore fix while I can't play Legion (no money/time).
I was wondering what your favourite single moment in Warcraft lore is? The one which sticks with me the most is questing in Northrend and coming across a dwarf who had lost his memory. Not thinking anything of it, I continued with the quest and ended up in a strange ice cave. An in-game cinematic started and I soon realised to my glee it was showing me Arthas accepting Frostmourne and killing Muradin (sad face). I thought this was cool enough that I was in the same cave, but wait! Muradin wasn't dead?!?! He simply lost his memory. As all the pieces fell into place and I realised who the dwarf I had just spoken too was my mind was blown and I sat in awe for hours.
Logged off and didn't play for days, nothing could top that after loving Warcraft 3 so much growing up.
