Old Version for Josetti
NYU Berlin Facilities, Resources & Services for Studio Art Students
NYUB’s art studio is located in the Josetti Höfe (http://www.josettihoefe.de/en/lage.html), which are easy to reach from both the Student Residence (15 minutes by subway) and the Academic Center (25 minutes by subway). Art Studio Monitors are present at the studio and will arrange opening hours with you once you are in Berlin (please note that the studio cannot be open 24/7).
At the studio, art stands, moveable countertop tables, lockers, a projector (on demand), “storage drawers”, and basic hand tools (including a sewing machine and two drills) are provided.
Please note that your materials (wood, metal, etc.) must be purchased individually. The studio monitors can provide you with a list of nearby art supply shops and hardware stores. NYUB can assist you with the transport from the store to the studio if booked at least two weeks in advance.
NYUB’s Academic Center also has large photo plotters to print photographic work.
If you would like to use special tools/machinery, an external workshop must be booked. Please inform the Studio Monitor as early as possible (at least three weeks in advance) if you need to use a specialist workshop. NYUB covers the costs of the workshop but not the materials. The workshops have their own monitors that assist with the machinery. Here you find the different workshops offered: http://www.bbk-kulturwerk.de/con/kulturwerk/front_content.php?idart=320&idartlang=406&idcat=89&changelang=7
Any materials you would like to use in the workshop need to be purchased individually. NYUB can assist you with the transport of the materials from the store to the workshop and the later collection of your art piece from the workshop if you book this in advance when booking the workshop.
