Nutcracker

Tchaikovsy is “composer of the month” in music class in December. Many pieces from the Nutcracker are used in a variety of ways (movement activities for the younger kids, listening activities for the older, etc.)

One of the many countries studied during our “world music” over-arching unit. Students learn about native insruments and music from Australia.

The book is brought alive through several related songs about color. Can also be used as a spring concert performance.

Students can create a portrait of themselves as crayons

Spring concert/performance. Music that tie into the book, and crayon art displayed.
