Government and Economics Syllabus

Government – 1st semester is Government. Students will not be issued a US Government textbook.  We will use a classroom set and will be accessing the online textbook.  Students will be able to access the textbook anytime by logging onto the textbook icon on their chromebook.  We will also use Google Classroom for many of our assignments.  

Economics – 2nd semester is Economics. The class will revolve around a high school curriculum designed by nationally renowned radio host and author Dave Ramsey.  Each student will receive their own workbook.  Lessons and tests focus on the material in the workbook, information taught by Coach Finnell, and lessons from the Dave Ramsey DVD series Foundations in Personal Finance.  

All students will be enrolled in the US Government Google Classroom (students in Economics will not be enrolled in the Economics Google Classroom until 2nd semester begins).   The class code for each Government class is below (used to join the class):

Grading - Test grades and projects will be worth 50% of the 6 weeks grade.  The remaining 50% will consist of classwork, homework, quizzes, and participation.  Any late work will continue to be accepted up to the Monday of the last week of each six weeks grading period with a 30 point penalty on the score achieved by the student.  If a student receives a failing grade on any work they have the opportunity to do a re-take or make corrections (whichever Coach Finnell decides) to raise their grade to a maximum of 70%.  Any incorrect information will result in a grade lower than 70%.

        Students are responsible for initiating a conversation with Coach Finnell concerning any work or information they may have missed when absent.  Work not returned in a timely manner will result in a zero. When absent students must login to Google Classroom to find out what they missed.
