 What are some of the fruits and vegetables we eat on Thanksgiving Day?

  1. Display an arrangement of fruits and vegetables available during the fall.
  2. Have the children observe, touch, smell, and taste the fruits and vegetables in the arrangement.
  3. Have the children tell how they smell, how they feel, and how they taste.
  4. Discuss the different items.
  5. Ask: If these foods are enjoyed in their homes.
  6. Discuss where they come from and how they get to your homes.
  7. Ask: How is the food a gift from god?
  8. Distribute Activity Page 27.

  1. Collect homework to create “Turkey of Thanks.”
  2. Read each child’s thank you hand print.
  3. Place all hand prints on the turkey to create a “Turkey of Thanks.”
  4.  Distribute Activity Page 29.
  5. Talk about ways different families celebrate Thanksgiving.
  6. Have the children share how their families celebrate Thanksgiving.
  7. Have the children take a finger walk along Liza and her family on the trip to grandmother’s house.
  8. Have the children find God’s gifts they can find along.
