GN (Song from Comptine d'Un Autre Été- Die fabelhafte Welt der Amélie Piano) Coco Chanel | Une definition de l’elegance. Vous pose des question vraiment difficil. Parce qu’est qui fai l’elegance. Beaucoup chose. ..... et que les femme sont jamais elegante. This was the voice of Gabrielle chanel, aka Coco chanel my fashion spirit. Coco Chanel was a smoking, bright red lipped, outspoken french fashion designer and has reigned in fashion for over 40 years. Song (french Coco song) She created a new look for women in the 20th century Right around the time women were coming out of the very corseted, very tight, very restricted style. And what she decided to do, being this lovely, ... up and coming fashion designer was to create a more sporty look. And so it gave women a little bit more of a relaxed style, also creating this beautiful formal line. And they could still have some mobility, they could breath. She gave women a little bit more movement, which also freed them I think in a lot of ways. A lot of times what you would see previously was women in theses really high..., really tight, almost restrictive garb. And then she opened it up, shorten the hem quite a bit. This was unheard of. No women wearing short skirts or dresses. No, that’s crazy so she did it and she made it so that it was accessible. And that was my friend Shon, who studies fashion at the Art institute of chicago. (She talks about women wanting to be independent and how that’s what is about) GN: Chanel was a woman ahead of her time. Shon: She had the class and mannerism. She had multiple affairs. I think she really did rebel saying I’m not going to be that women and she didn't care, it was one of those things where she really probably wanted to live her live the way she thought to. GN: Many of Chanel’s stapled designs have been copied, redesigned, and retailored but imitation is evidence of success. Coco Chanel: (Je talks about how there is no success with imitation or copying) With designed like the little black dress, the p jacket, the chanel suit, and chanel number 5, Coco was able to express and embraced the equality of women by creating modern clothes for a new generation. She was the embodiment of work hard play hard. Her hard work rid women of discomfort. Thanks to Coco, women’s fashion were brought from rigid corsets to comfortable apparel. She gave women individualism, encouragement and more importantly hope! Coco Chanel: She says that what matters is the women and not the style but being able to give women (poor or wealthy) great clothes was the high award she had ever received. Songs:
