Editor’s Corner

Jai Jinendra,

In the month of April, Jains all around the world celebrate the birth of Bhagwan Mahvir. JSCNC will celebrate Mahavir Jayanti on Apr 28th at Hindu Bhavan Main Hall. This newsletter has important details to help you prepare for the day. Please read the entire newletter and do not hesitate to ask me any questions you might have.

An event of this magnitude would not be possible without community involvement. We are so blessed to have many volunteers helping us to make this event a huge success.

  • Please park only in designated spaces. Observe all fire lane rules.
  • Please remove your shoes before entering the main hall.
  • Wear clean Puja attire if you are participating in Puja.  Be there at 1:45pm sharp if your child is in Puja. The Puja will start on time whether you are there or not.
  • The children, choreographers and program directors have done a lot of hard work. We should do our part by observing silence during the items and be generous applauding them.

Mahavir Jayanti is one of the largest events sponsored by JSCNC, is open to everyone and demonstrates the unity and generosity of JAIN community. The Executive committee puts in a lot of planning in place but your support - financial and volunteer - makes this program a huge success. Like each year, this year has been no exception for community support. On behalf of the Executive Committee 2013, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the sponsors who donated generously.

The Executive Committee would also like to request that if you would like to donate on this auspicious occasion, we have several categories still open for sponsorship in addition to general fund. Your donation is tax deductible and helps JSCNC organize events such as these throughout the year. You can contact Mr. Pratyush Mehta or any committee member.

I also wanted to repeat the following note from last month. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

As the practices and preparations continue, I wanted to take a moment on behalf of the executive committee to recognize all the volunteers who have agreed to choreograph items for the stage program. They have a diverse group of very demanding crowd (young children) to manage. These choreographers work very hard and spend their personal time to prepare the children for the on-stage program. Please make sure you give them your full cooperation. Mahavir Jayanti on-stage program is not only a celebration of the birth of Bhagvan Mahavir but also a display of Jain values. If you have any suggestions or concerns, please bring those to a committee member or pathshala teachers. We have an “open door” policy so any and all comments are encouraged. The Executive Committee contact information is at the top of the newsletter and on www.jscnc.org.
