Overview
FanFocus is redefining the game-day experience for the sports fans and enthusiasts by eliminating many points of friction fans encounter at modern sporting events. The modern big-time college stadium has over 80,000 seats, limited parking, and incomplete experiences for fans. The industry is plagued by profiteers and single points solutions that create a fractured and expensive experience. FanFocus has ambitious plans to simplify and enhance the game-day experience by serving fans, athletic departments, and local businesses; connecting the dots and radically improving the experience. FanFocus will be launched in early September at a handful of major college football venues with aggressive growth plans. We are looking for talented students to take fan-facing roles in their local venue. You have the opportunity to participate in a Marketing and Tech start-up as it strives to disrupt the status quo for the benefit of its audience. Role Description:
The Enthusiast be the face of our Brand. You will work in teams and serve as promoters and concierges in specified areas around the stadium. Your objective will be to (1) drive adoption and usage of the GameDay app, and (2) assist customers. These are the business activities you will direct:
- Drive adoption of the GameDay app on home-game weekends
- Your first game(s) will be primarily driven by this activity
- Promote our app by meaningfully engaging fans
- Maximize your effectiveness by working quickly
- Distribute calling cards with a QR code that allows fans to easily find and download the app for both iPhone and Android
- Drive useage of the App
- Subsequent games will allow you to incorporporate more of this activity
- Ultimately, our ability to support fans is driven by the modest fees associated with using our app. Your team will be rewarded by # of transactions.
- Staff Recruiting
- As you know, we’re looking for a particular type of talent. We’re starting with 10-12, but expect that number to increase with the success your team will create.
- You will be rewarded for the folks you introduce to us, who are subsequently hired.

Our desirable candidate will demonstrate (1) enthusiasm to work with general public (2) drive to exceed objectives and earn additional income (3) desire to be part of start-up, learn the business, and be part of something exciting.
Required:
As an promoters (“Enthusiasts”) who become the face of our Brand. We want you to be vocal and passionate. Tell us about your experiences advocating, recruiting, or evangelizing something important to you.
Show us that you thrive in different groups, setting, and dynamics. You’ll be meeting fans and groups of fan that have a wide variety of personalities, ages, and cultural experiences. Tell us about your experience in multiple organization, clubs, and groups and how you adapted to the different group dynamics.
Show us how you prepare for “show time”. Not literally, but how do you prepare for the spotlight? Your ability to work effectively and efficiently to influence fans on gameday will financially reward you under our compensation plan. Think about your experiences in presenting to peers, retail selling, waiting tables, public speaker, your college interview, talent shows, etc.
Prefered:
Leadership experience (e.g. helping run a club or student group)
Entrepreneurial experience (e.g. helping run your own business or charity)
Marketing or Sales experience (e.g. retail, hospitality, outside, or phone sales)
Equipment:
Smartphone. You’ll need to own or have access to a smartphone (Android, IoS). After all, we’re an app driven experience. We’ll need to coordinate with you during the game-day. Primarily SMS, but periodic phone calls might be necessary. You will need to have your phone fully charged and cellular/wifi connected.
Compensation
As an Enthusiast, we want you to exceed your hourly pay. Your success is directly tied to ours. We will arm you with the training and messaging you’ll need to be successful. We hope and expect you take full advantage of the following compensation model:
- $15/hr, with an expectation of up-to 10 hours during the game weekend
- Bonus based on the following metrics:
- App downloads driven by you
- Service fees driven by your team
- 10% of the service fees; and will be apportioned by your percentage of app downloads
- Recruiting new Enthusiast to join our team
- Up-to $50 for each recruit hired
Timing
We will launch on September 2nd (one day prior to Game 1). Your Venue Leader will contact you the week in advance of each home-game to coordinate schedules. Expect to occasionally work on Friday evenings, when Saturday game times are early (e.g. noon kickoff). As you know, game times are often dictated by Television coverage, so your Venue Leader will make sure to coordinate with you as times might shift during the week.
Ownership and Backing
This is a ground floor opportunity with a tech start-up. Our backing comes from Technology Executives with the goal to put fans in control of their game day experiences. We have relationships with Financiers for access to financing during our hyper-scale growth phase. Below, are the credentials of our two managing owners:
- Philip Schentrup, Phil is a seasoned software and technology executive who has helped build venture funded companies. Phil is a visionary entrepreneur who brings a history of business development, product management, product delivery, and business financing to FanFocus. In his role as Chief Product Officer, Phil and his team are creating an App experience and roadmap built with hyper-scale growth in mind. Phil holds a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering, and has started two companies prior to FanFocus.
- Dan Schentrup, Sales Executive, has worked at Microsoft, Oracle, and IBM. Dan brings his deal making experience from the cSuites of Fortune500 companies into FanFocus to create the business plan, drive key partnership, and acquire talent that will allow FanFocus to succeed with its innovative business model. Dan holds an MBA and professional certificates from IBM’s Harvard/MIT program. Dan has worked closely with Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Tampa Bay for over 18 years.
