AVATAR: THE LAST MUSICAL AUDITIONS

DEADLINE: 11:59PM EST, JULY 1ST, 2021

We are seeking Asian and Indigenous performers to star in our upcoming Avatar: The Last Musical demo highlights album! Please note that as of right now, this opportunity is volunteer work. All roles will be considered, regardless of gender. The ATLM team strongly believes in inclusivity, and as long as your voice fits the part we would love to hear from you!

How to Film

• State your name, age, and role. If you are auditioning for an Indigenous character, please slate your tribe/clan
• Perform the audition cut for your role (see next page)

• Ensemble (TENORS/BASSES): Perform a one minute cut of a musical theatre song that shows off your range

• Preference will be given to performers with good microphones

How to Submit

• Email your submission to atlmofficial@gmail.com
• Please include:

• An unlisted YouTube video that includes your audition cut
• A current headshot and resume
• If you are under 18, parental permission is required. Please provide a legal guardian’s email address.

• Ensemble (TENORS/BASSES): If you have ALREADY sent an audition for a lead role, you will automatically be considered for ensemble (there is no need to submit another audition). If you are PLANNING to send an audition for both a lead role and ensemble, please attach both videos in one email.

CHARACTERS

Aang - Male. Asian. Age 12-16. Mezzo-Soprano.

Playful, peaceful, and determined. Aang doesn't like fighting and he's afraid that he's not up to the task of being the Avatar. Unwilling to let people suffer at the hands of the Fire Nation, he learns to embrace his destiny.

Katara - Female. Indigenous. Age 14-18. Alto.

Maternal, practical, and idealistic. Katara cares a lot about helping others and doing the right thing. Sometimes she doesn’t have much of a sense of fun, but it’s Katara who will keep the Gaang on track.

Sokka - Male. Indigenous. Age 14-25. Tenor.

Funny, intelligent, and immature. Sokka is the comic relief of the group, often intentionally, sometimes unintentionally. He has the ability to be really insightful, but lets his rashness and insistence on being right overcome him.

Zuko - Male. Asian. Age 14-25. Bari/Tenor.

Angry, sullen, and passionate. Zuko’s just a teenager, but he’s had a lot of pressure put on him, and now he’s prone to lashing out. He doesn’t want to connect to anyone, since everyone he’s cared about has turned on him.

Toph - Female. Asian. Age 12-16. Mezzo-Soprano.

Tough, blunt, and tricky. Toph is a little rough around the edges, and doesn’t hold back when she’s got something to say. Although she’ll try to conceal it, she cares about doing the right thing – she’ll just never admit it out loud.

Azula - Female. Asian. Age 14-25. Mezzo-Soprano. Strong belter.

Cold, calculating, and manipulative. Azula is a relentless perfectionist and will not stop until she has everything she wants. These elements of her character that drive her both to success and to mental instability.
