Tax Information for Non-Resident Aliens (NRA)

The JHU Tax Office has purchased a license for GLACIER Tax Prep (free) which is Federal tax preparation software for Nonresident Alien (NRA) Students and Scholars. GLACIER Tax Prep is specifically designed to help NRA’s file a federal tax return so it is user friendly and generates the appropriate federal tax return for each NRA.

Filing of Federal Taxes for the 2013 year  is due by April 15th 2014.

If you are an International Scholar who has not passed the substantial presence test (spending >183 days of each of the last 3 years in the USA) then you are likely considered a “Non-Resident for Tax Purposes” and are eligible to utilize the GLACIER Tax Prep tool.  Information on accessing this software through the Hopkins Tax Office is now available. Please click here to read the flier and email the tax office directly for access and your questions.

Mother’s Room Now Open!

The Mother's Room in PCTB 302 is now open. To access, moms can complete an authorization form (link) and return it to: Sharon Eddinger, PCTB 333.

The room currently has one Ameda Elite pump, and a Medela Symphony will be added soon.  There are three stations and a sink, a small refrigerator and full-length mirror.

IN BRIEF: Curling like a Rock Star

Ever been curious about the sport of Curling, which has received so much coverage during the Olympics? With the upcoming shuttle social on Wednesday (@ Turp’s from 6-8, see poster below), which coincides with the Olympic Curling semi-finals, a few JHPDA members made their way to Potomac Curling Club (curldc.org) and tried their hands at this sport.

JHPDA co-president, Blythe Shepard, wrote more about curling here.

Whether you are a Curling fanatic, or haven’t seen a game yet, come out this Wednesday and watch some Curling at Turp’s!  Those of us that went to Potomac Curling Club might even share some stories about our own success with sweeping and throwing!  Good Curling!
