I really must thank you for the delightful time I spent at your private view, every one of the 50 pictures was a real pleasure to look at. I never remember going through any

exhibition so carefully and the so called artists at the Academy might most of them be crucified for making such exhibitions of their sitters!!

I shall avail myself with

great pleasure to your kind invitation of 4th July when I am coming up for Mr Kellogg's reception and bring you to see the small portrait that Thaddeus did of me about the time he did Leo XIII.[1]
