Family Promise Dinner Prep Responsibilities

 5 - 6:30 PM

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.  For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in…’

Thank you so much for choosing to participate in this ministry.

_____Arrive at church about 5 p.m. with whatever food you need.  Dick (or Nancy) Solum will be there to let you in.

_____Leave the door unlocked for the guests.  As guests and volunteers arrive, ask them to sign in on the sheet on the table in the fellowship hall.  Guests may go to their rooms, relax in the downstairs living area, or play outside until dinner time.

_____Prepare to serve at 6 p.m. unless notified differently.  Do not just drop off food and leave.  Make sure the dinner is served unless you make arrangements with the volunteer coordinator. Both Family Promise guests and evening hosts will be there to eat.  You may cook in the Fellowship  kitchen and use any food in the  refrigerator behind kitchen across from library, Plates under island.  Glasses, bowls, etc in cupboards. Look in pantry for paper plates or containers.

_____Set up the fellowship hall for serving – usually main dish and salads on the table in front of the counter and beverages and dessert on a separate table.  Get out the glasses, silverware, napkins, plates, bowls, serving spoons, etc., as needed.  Set the tables in a way that works for you.

_____Introduce yourselves and lead a prayer.

_____Eat and visit with the families. Sometimes there will be someone missing due to work so guests may set aside a plate of food for a family member.

_____Clean up as needed.  Accept clean-up help from the guests and the evening hosts.

_____Package any leftover dinner food to give to the van driver in the morning to take to the Day Center.   Containers are in the pantry. Let the evening hosts know the leftovers are in the refrigerator

Important things to know

There is an Information Notebook and Guest Logbook in the room where hosts are staying.  Feel free to make notes and comments (praise and criticism).  Document anything that subsequent Hosts will need to know in the Guest Log book.  This Log Book for Family Promise travels from church to church as the program rotates.  Feel free to read the comments from previous hosts as it may give you some helpful insight regarding our guests. (This information is confidential and not for the Guests to view.)
