Importing Spotify Playlists From Your Personal Account
Connecting To a Bluetooth Device
Do I need to be connected to the network to play music?
What happens if the WiFi signal is weak?
You will be presented with screens upon signing into the app for the first time:
After navigating the first two informational screens, you will be signed into your SHS SoundTrack account:
Note that the word “Home” is selected at the bottom of the screen.
You can use the standard playlists or import playlists from your personal Spotify account. The “Import your Spotify playlists” is large due to an iPhone setting on my phone. But if you press it, it takes you to the next screen.
Here is the authorization screen presented when you select “Import your Spotify playlists”:
Assuming you agree, you will be presented with this screen:
You can select up to 5 lists at once. For this example, I chose “U2 - The Complete …”. Press IMPORT
Note the bottom of the screen is now on “Zones”.
SHS has licenses to play the music in several Zones. Using your finger you can scroll up and down to select the Zone you wish to use. Only one device can be playing music from a zone license at a time.
In this example, I selected the “SHS Portable PA System” zone. I also chose the U2 playlist I downloaded from Spotify.
Pressing the partially obfuscated record cover and song name brings up this screen:
Note it says that the music is playing from This iPhone (confirmed, it was playing).
Pressing the stacked “hamburger” gives you another screen:
This screen allows you to connect to an Airplay or Bluetooth device to stream your music. If you are using a portable speaker or PA system that has a Bluetooth connection, this is where you make it.
It also allows you to unpair from the zone, allowing someone else to use the license.
If you select unpair, you are presented with this screen.
There are some devices at SHS that are permanently paired with zones (eg. Aquatics scoreboard). Others are shared.
Should another user attempt to use a Zone with your device attached, they will be presented with an option to disconnect the device.
No. SoundTrack will download your chosen playlist music while you are connected to a Zone, whether you play the music or not. You will be able to play the “cached” music for 30 consecutive days while disconnected from the network.
You may experience errors. To overcome this possibility, you should cache some music while you are connected to the network and zone in a reliable location. This will allow your device to play music from its storage and not rely on the WiFi connection. But, remember the device must connect to SoundTrack within the previous 30 days to renew the license to play the cached music.
