Please note that there is a risk involved in competitive cheer that you are taking by being a member during this pandemic.  At CEA Raleigh, we promise to do the best we can to enforce the protocol; however, we trust that you have important conversations with your child regarding diligence in following the protocol and making healthy life decisions in and outside the gym.

This Protocol is intended to help promote the best and safest logical practice at Cheer Extreme Raleigh. We thank you for your support and commitment to the safety and wellness of our athletes, their families, and the community during these tough times.

HEALTH OFFICERS

-Designate two health officers.

-One senior level, non-technical staff member (owner, etc): KELLY HELTON

-One medical advisor working within the training facility: SHAWN WILSON

-Health officers will be held responsible for staying up to date on CDC guidelines.

-Health officers are ultimately responsible for understanding and implementing the protocols.

TEAM PARENT/HEALTH ADVISOR

-They are to assist with the proper use of Primary Protective Equipment, administer any PPE if an athlete does not have any/ or if they are damaged in practice, remind good habits of social distancing, require sanitizing breaks every 15-20 minutes, keep log of interactions of athletes outside of their “TEAM BUBBLE” (to be explained next), and they are the primary communication that will notify the Health Officers of any violations/ issues/concerns.

-Fill-in athletes from other teams will be documented and screened prior to practice so that we will be informed if any notifications need to take place.

-If an athlete is seen putting their hands in or around their mouths/nose, they will be sent to the bathroom to wash hands with soap and water.

-If the team parent needs additional assistance to ensure the above takes place, they may ask for THE SAME parent to assist on occasion or consistently.

ESTABLISHING THE “TEAM BUBBLE” & MINIMIZING “CROSSOVER CONTAMINATION.”

-Each team is considered their own “bubble” from the time practice begins to the time that practice ends.  This includes all athletes, all coaches, team parents, and other essential staff from Cheer Extreme Raleigh related to that ONE specific team. (For example, the Cougar Coed “TEAM BUBBLE will include all Cougar Coed team athletes, all potential staff members, Team mom, any temperature checking door staff and Allison).

-The “TEAM BUBBLE” is simply each separate team training within itself, only coming in contact with this specific team. It is advised that no athletes be within 6 feet of any other individual part of another “TEAM BUBBLE” while at practice (I.E no Cougar Coed athlete training or around an athlete from SSX.)  This will allow us to keep track of who was in direct contact with who.

SUPPLIES

-Athletes and staff must wear masks AT ALL TIMES in the gym. If the athlete does not come prepared with a mask, the gym will supply a new one at that time if one is available.  Failure to wear a mask would result in removal from the gym.

-Each athlete must bring their own hand sanitizer and be held responsible to sanitize during breaks.  Please discuss this with your athlete...breaks are not meant just for water/snacks/socialization.  Hand sanitizer will be readily available on all floors. If your athlete is unable to locate the sanitary supplies, please notify a staff member immediately.

STUNTING PROTOCOL AND THE                        “MINI BUBBLE.”

-Stunting at Cheer Extreme Raleigh is strictly an optional exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you and your child do not feel comfortable, please notify your coach right away.

-Coaches and Team Parents will implement “STUNT SANITATION” every 20 minutes or less during any stunting. Every 20 minutes or less, all athletes involved in stunting MUST VISIBLY sanitize their hands as high as their elbows with the proper hand sanitizer and/or soap and water.

-MASKS ARE MANDATORY and must cover the NOSE & MOUTH at all times.  We have found it unsafe to wear masks while spinning in tumble skills and during a 2.5 minute fullout routine for higher level athletes...as a result, athletes are allowed to pull mask down while performing this skill.  If they need to breathe, please make sure your child choreographs that moment while they are 6 feet away from teammates.

-Fill-in athletes from other teams will be documented and screened prior to practice so that we will be informed if any notifications need to take place.

-When necessary, The “MINI BUBBLE” concept is a self isolation of your stunt group from the rest of the BUBBLE or TEAM itself. When Stunting, all stunt groups are recommended to stay 6 feet away from each other.

-We will document which athletes are in each section so we know when and if direct contact was made.

RETURN TO THE GYM:

-IN THE INSTANCE THAT THE MINI BUBBLE CONCEPT IS PRACTICED SUCCESSFULLY FROM THE OBSERVANCE OF A HEALTH OFFICER AND TEAM MOM HEALTH ADVISOR, IF AN ATHLETE IS TO BE REPORTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19, ONLY THAT “MINI BUBBLE/ STUNT GROUP” HAS TO BE QUARANTINED (10 days for a asymptomatic cases/14 for symptomatic cases). OR those who have had direct contact/exposure for longer than 15 minutes can get tested at least 5 days after being exposed and receive a NEGATIVE test (must provide proof). That is IF AND ONLY IF that “TEAM BUBBLE” practices with good social distancing rules and correct protocol.

-After any stunt group member uses the restroom, they must both wash their hands for a minimum of 20 seconds.

-It is recommended for flyers to sanitize the bottom of their shoes with a designated spray bottle prior to partaking in contact stunts post restroom use.

TUMBLING

-All tumbling must be done with the use of PPE (mask and hand sanitizer). If your athlete does not have one, the gym can provide one for them. We have deemed it unsafe to spin in tumbling while wearing a mask; therefore, the mask is optional during this skill but must be on the fact and pulled up when moving to the next spot.

-It is advised that your athlete stays 6 feet apart from other athletes as often as possible. This is standing in line, standing in any formation, etc. -Choreographed sections may call for multiple athletes from other “MINI BUBBLES” (someone other than those in their personal stunt groups) to come closer in contact.

This will be documented by the team parent.

PLEASE SEE updated schedules by going to www.cheerextremeraleigh.com. Click on the Tabs Calendar > All Star Calendars for updated times. -For high risk tumbling elements, masks may be pushed down to the chin level to eliminate blinding during advanced, risky, acro skills. This is to be accommodated directly before the pass, replacing the mask correctly after the skill is completed. Before dropping the mask before a pass, no persons should within 6 feet of the athlete. If you do not feel comfortable with your child tumbling with mask lowered for visual protection, you have the right to refuse to participate in tumbling activity.

ENTERING FACILITY

-Upon entering the facility, all athletes are asked to form a line 5 minutes or less prior to class/ lesson time. This is to minimize multiple teams being in the gym at the same time.  Please stand in line with your mask on, practicing social distancing of 6 feet or more. PLEASE FORM A LINE ON THE LEFT DOUBLE DOORS out front of the gym. The Right set of double doors is for EXIT ONLY. (direction as if you are facing the large CEA logo out front of the facility from the outside.) -All Athletes and staff members will be required to be temperature checked before entering. Due to the fact that our external digital thermometers show lower temps than oral thermometers, we will not allow participation for athletes with temperatures recorded above 99.5 Degrees Fahrenheit.  We do reserve the right to take the temperature again after removing an athlete from the heat outside (as it causes an elevated temperature)

If the temperature does not drop below 99.5 degrees, the athlete will be asked to leave.  Therefore, please make sure your child has safely entered the building before leaving.

-If a child has a fever, the parent  will be notified and must be seen by a doctor and provide documentation to the health advisors before returning.

-Upon allowing your minor to enter the facility, all parents are required to scan and question their child to assure they do not have any of the following symptoms below.

SYMPTOM CHECKLIST (must be clear of these to enter). -Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing -cough -fever

-headache -chills -sore throat -loss of taste or smell -abnormal muscle pain

-nasal congestion -runny nose -diarrhea -fatigue

-Allowing them to enter is a notable consent that you have scanned them and allow them to enter the facility. If you do not feel comfortable with this procedure, please contact your primary care physician, and/or you have the right to pull them from training.

EXITING FACILITY

-After every training session/ lesson, all athletes are asked to first sanitize their hands up to their elbows, grab all their personal items, and exit to the left of the center floor. All staff in charge of the class/ training session will reiterate the exit procedures.

-A Team Mom Health Advisor will hold the door for athletes upon exiting. In the common instance that an athlete is leaving with no Team Mom Health Advisor to open the door, simply assure you have sanitized your hands prior to leaving practice, open the door yourself, and sanitize immediately after.

NO LOITERING OUTSIDE OF PRACTICE.

-Athletes may only be in the gym during their scheduled practice/class time.

-Parents cannot convene in close proximity to each other while on gym property without wearing masks.

-Please do not breathe on or touch the glass windows … this includes your phone.

TESTING POSITIVE

-PLEASE SEE OUR POSITIVE TEST PROTOCOL SHEET FOR A VISUAL UNDERSTANDING OF OUR PROCEDURES. This can be found on www.cheerextremeraleigh.com Click on the tab COVID-19 PROTOCOLS and find the “POSITIVE TEST PROTOCOL SHEET.” -Any athlete with symptoms or a temperate above 100 Degrees Fahrenheit must immediately notify their “TEAM MOM HEALTH ADVISOR” and not participate in training or enter the facility. They must be tested at that time in order to be allowed into the gym before 14 days or less. -Any Athlete testing positive must notify the TEAM MOM HEALTH ADVISOR IMMEDIATELY. -After they notify the TEAM MOM HEALTH ADVISOR, the TEAM MOM HEALTH ADVISOR will communicate with the HEALTH OFFICERS IMMEDIATELY. -HEALTH OFFICERS will communicate with the affected team/teams, affected staff members, and notify all parents apart of the team via the GROUP-ME notification. For HIPPA obligations, the positive tested athlete name does not have to be shared. If permission is granted, Kelly has authorization to release the name.

-The team affected will not be allowed back in the gym until the exposed teammates receive a negative test 5-7 days after exposure.

-PRACTICE WILL ONLY CONTINUE IF THERE IS A UNANIMOUS VOTE FROM EACH PARENT OUTSIDE OF THE AFFECTED “MINI BUBBLE/ STUNT GROUP” AGREEING THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THIS DECISION.  Without an unanimous approval, the whole team must quarantine for 14 days (symptomatic cases) 10 days (Asymptomatic cases)

-The infected athlete MUST receive a negative test before returning to the gym

-If the team was exposed outside of the gym without proper PPE, the team will be automatically quarantined.

-At the moment we receive notification of a symptomatic athlete or a positive test, any staff member who came in direct contact with the athlete will be removed from the facility. A contact tracing investigation will be held to conclude if the staff member came in close contact/ vicinity of the infected athlete or other athletes on the team.  The gym video equipment records & keeps 7 days of material at a time if this is needed.

Any time a coach participates in practice by spotting/stunting/etc, it must be documented by the team parent.  It is advised that coaches keep their distance as often as possible.  Only exception is a safety concern for spotting stunts or addressing an emergency.

ANY CONTACT MADE VIA ALL-STAFF AND ATHLETE WILL BE DOCUMENTED BY TEAM MOM HEALTH ADVISOR. IF THERE IS A REPORT OF THE STAFF MEMBER COMING IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH A POSITIVE TESTED ATHLETE FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES, THAT STAFF WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE CDC RECOMMENDATIONS FOR QUARANTINE. Currently, it states that 10 days after exposure, if you show no symptoms, quarantine is complete.  If there were symptoms, a test would be required to re-enter the facility.

CONTACT TRACING

-Health Officers, Staff members, and Team Mom Health Advisors will conduct contact tracing investigations in the event of a positive case. This will help notify those who could be directly involved. Health officers will directly contact parents of those athletes directly involved with an infected athlete. This is any athlete within the “MINI BUBBLE/ STUNT GROUP” or any individuals noted to have been in close contact 15 minutes or more.

-For more information on contact tracing, you can participate in a free course offered through John Hopkins University. https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/contact-tracing-

-Team Mom Health Advisors and staff members apart of each “TEAM BUBBLE” are to keep daily records of people whom they have been in close contact (If your athlete happens to “CROSSOVER CONTAMINATE with another athlete for 15+ minutes of direct contact with).

ATHLETE WITH CLOSE FAMILY/FRIEND EXPOSURE

Athletes who are not symptomatic but have been overly exposed for 15 or more minutes unprotected with an infected person, must contact their TEAM MOM HEALTH ADVISOR immediately. This athlete may not return to training until a negative test has been received 5-7 days post exposure or after a 14 day quarantine period.

***Please be conscious of your social interactions outside of the gym                           and the impact it could have on your team and their ability                                                to have full attendance at practices in the future.***
