2024/2025 Counselling and Psychology Video Competition: Detailed Information

Background: 

The HKSYU Counselling and Psychology Department (The COUN/PSY Department) would like to invite all undergraduate and postgraduate students to join the 2024/2025 Counselling and Psychology Video Competition. Potential COUN/PSY programs are:

1. BSS (Hons) Counselling & Psychology
2. BSS (Hons) Psychology
3. MSS Psychology
4. MSS Counselling Psychology
5. MSS Play Therapy
6. DPsych Counselling Psychology
7. MPhil/PhD Psychology
8. BSS Forensic and Investigative Psychology (first intake 2025/2026)
9. MSS Adversity and Trauma Psychology (first intake 2025/2026)

Theme: 

1. The theme of this Video Competition is “Counselling and Psychology Programs in Learners’ Eyes.” 
2. Based on learners’ eyes, videos, and perspectives, we want to see how our students describe the programs and courses of their selection, particularly how learners believe their academic voyage at HKSYU.

Why:

The COUN/PSY Department always wants to listen to the voices and stories from our current students and learners. By making these videos, the general public members, faculty members, and students can learn more about our COUN/PSY programs and courses at HKSYU. More importantly, interesting videos can promote our COUN/PSY programs and courses to general public members internationally.

When: 

The deadline of submission is the 30th Feb 2025 23:59 (extended).

Who:

1. Currently enrolled Undergraduate and Postgraduate (Taught and Research) students can participate in this Video Competition.
2. Each Video team can have up to five members in the Video team. In other words, no more than five members for each application.

What: 

1. Each Video team needs to submit two original videos, including one video (around 4-6 mins) + one short (1 min) for a completed application. Therefore, each Video team needs to upload 2 videos.
2. The videos must be submitted in the MP4 format.
3. Please submit the videos to (lmdossantos@hksyu.edu) as attachments or drive materials.
4. Please note: Based on the regulation of the University, videos should avoid showing the University logos.

Judging Criteria: 

Videos will be judged based on the following criteria:

1. Creativity (30%)
2. Relevance to the Themes (30%)
3. Quality of the Videos (20%)
4. Overall Impact (20%)

-The COUN/PSY department will select a team of judges to evaluate the videos.

Language:

English, Chinese Cantonese, and Chinese Mandarin (Putonghua) are welcome.  

Award notification date:

By the end of August 2025.

Prizes:

-The 1st Place will receive $1,200 HKD + Certificates

-The 2nd Place will receive $500 + Certificates

-The 3rd Place will receive $300 + Certificates

-All Joiners will receive Certificates

Rights and Ownership:

1. By submitting the videos, the Video teams grant HKSYU COUN/PSY Department the right to use, reproduce, and distribute the submitted videos for promotional purposes.
2. The HKSYU COUN/PSY Department reserves the rights to use the videos for promotion.
3. The videos should not involve any sensitive information.

Disqualification:

1. Video teams that do not comply with the guidelines or are submitted after the deadline will be disqualified.
2. The HKSYU COUN/PSY Department reserves the right to disqualify any videos for any reasons.

Liability:

1. The HKSYU COUN/PSY Department is not responsible for any technical malfunctions, Video teams that are lost or not received, or any circumstances beyond its control.
2. By participating in the Video Competition, Video teams agree to release and hold harmless The HKSYU COUN/PSY Department any claims or damages arising from their participation.

Governing Law:

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Law of Hong Kong SAR Government.
