Introduction

The Cisco / Linksys SPA-3102 is an Analog Telephony Adapter (ATA). An ATA allows you to use a traditional analog phone line or analog phone handset with your Jazinga phone system. An ATA is plugged into your network, and to your phone line or phone handset. The analog phone signals are then converted by the ATA into VoIP, and sent over the network to your Jazinga system.

The Cisco / Linksys SPA-3102 allows you to connect one analog phone line, and one analog phone set. This guide walks through the process of configuring your Jazinga phone system to use both of these. If will only be using an analog phone service, you may skip the steps relating to the setup of an analog phone handset. Similarly, if you will only be using an analog phone handset, you may skip the steps relating to the setup of an analog phone service.

Step 1: Hardware Setup

Connect the SPA-3102 to your phone line, phone handset, network, and power

  1. Ensure that your Jazinga appliance is already connected to your network and configured. If this has not yet been completed, please follow the “Quick Setup Guide” found at jazinga.com/docs before proceeding.
  2. Connect an analog phone line from your analog phone jack into the Line port on the SPA-3102.
  3. Connect an analog phone line from your analog phone handset into the Phone port on the SPA-3102.
  4. Connect a network cable from your network switch or router into the Internet port on the SPA-3102.
  5. Connect the power cable that was included with the SPA-3102 from an electrical outlet into the Power port on the SPA-3102.

IMPORTANT Hardware Setup Notes:

  • The SPA-3102 must always be connected to your network using an ethernet cable.
  • If you are not using an analog phone service, you may skip step #2.
  • If you are not using an analog phone handset, you may skip step #3.

Step 2: Provision the SPA-3102

Tell your Jazinga phone system to search for the SPA-3102 on your network

  1. Navigate to https://cloud.jazinga.com and log into an account that has been configured as an administrator for your Jazinga phone system.
  2. Click the Manage the system link near the top of the screen.
  3. Click the Phones tab.
  4. In the address bar at the top of your web browser, you will see an address that looks like this:

    https://cloud.jazinga.com/c/96/phones/

Add “scan” to the end of the address so that it looks like this:

    https://cloud.jazinga.com/c/96/phones/scan

    Now
hit the Enter key on your keyboard. Note that the number in the address will be unique to your own Jazinga phone system, so you should not change the number that you see in your browser’s address bar. Simply add “scan” to the end of the existing address and hit Enter.
  5. Click the orange Rescan Network button and wait while the Jazinga system scans the network.
  6. Once the Jazinga system has found your SPA-3102, it will appear on-screen. Click the orange Provision button.
  7. Wait a few moments for the SPA-3102 to be provisioned. Watch the area above the Rescan Network button. When the process is finished, a message stating, “Provision complete” will be displayed in this space.

Step 3: Setup Analog Phone Service

Direct calls from your analog phone service to an App, Person, or Team

  1. Click on the Phone Services tab.
  2. Click on Analog Line 2 on Office-# - SPA-3102. Note that the # will be an actual number that will change depending on how many phones you already have configured.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and use the Send To dropdown menu to select where incoming calls from the analog phone service should be directed to. You may select any App, Person, or Team.

Note: You should not change any other fields on this screen, including the Phone Number, Username, Password, and Server fields. Doing so may cause your SPA3102 to stop working, and it will need to be re-provisioned.
  4. Click the orange Save button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4: Setup an Analog Phone Handset

Assign your analog phone handset to a Person or Team

  1. Click the Phones tab.
  2. Click on Cisco / Linksys SPA-3102.
  3. Use the Line Key #1 dropdown menu to select the Person or Team that will be using the analog phone handset. When someone attempts to call the Person or Team that you select, the analog phone handset will ring.
  4. Click the orange Save button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 5: Publish Changes

Publish all configuration changes to make them active on the Jazinga appliance

  1. Click the Publish tab.
  2. Click the orange Publish Changes button.
  3. Wait a moment for publishing to complete.
