Called Alan to find out if he is available to correct the gradient this week - left phone message

October 28, 2013

  1. Alan arrived today at 0945, worked until 1045AM. He finished uncovering the pipe with Rick (temporary worker from Labor Max)
  2. Rick has direction to dig from the venting valve to the septic tank, 1.5 shovel deep to 2 shovels deep
  3. Once digging is complete, Alan will return to correct gradient - this may bring HabLab plumbing down for 2 days, but not final - need to coordinate to have Alan return when no DPVs are on site if the plumbing needs to come down

October 24, 2013

  1. Temporary worker to excavate the pipe tomorrow
  1. To LaborMax:

Hi Melissa, We have about 30 feet of pipe that we need to have gently excavated. I say 'gently' because the pipe is a working sewer line so I don't want to disrupt it, just want to remove the insulation and dirt from above it.

A local plumber is coming on Monday to fix the pipe's gradient. I'd like to have the same worker here on Monday to help him.

Do you have anyone who is close to Maysville who can do the excavation without disrupting the pipe? Someone who will be cautious as they dig. I'd like to have them come out tomorrow at approximately 930AM. The job may take a day, but I expect it to only take half a day.

  1. Alan to help correct the gradient on Monday 28October2013

October 22, 2013

  1. Alan called this AM, Marcin to return his call - waved Alan off
  2. Later, decided to have Mark unearth pipes, but Alan to correct the grade

Tuesday October 22, 2013

1) Vent LP Water Tank

2) Vent Sewer line

3) Stool securing - secure toilet to the ground

4) 40 gallon LP tank - Reed offered to pick it up from Sutherlands   per conversation with Marcin and Chris on October 21

5) Sewer cleaning - but Marcin and Reed need to discuss the leach field to determine if this is useful.

October 17, 2013

1) Alan Reed arrived at 0730AM

Water heater - He explained that if the lines running to the tankless water heater are not the right size then the water heater will not work properly - he confirmed that the lines are ½ inch, not ¾ inch, therefore it makes sense to go with a conventional water heater - the current water heater has the capacity to heat the sinks, not the showers.

Recommendation: Go with a 40 gallon LP conventional water tank and vent it outside the building and up. Reed can pick up the tank, if OSE purchases it. Sutherlands is the closest vendor.

Toilet - Fix the venting by venting sewer line - simple fix

Sewer Cleaning - Water is backing up in the kitchen - Reed can conduct a sewer cleaning, but this is useless if the septic tank is full of liquid > Reed was unable to find the leach field to confirm that liquids are draining from the septic. If liquids are not draining from the septic, then it might be full (need to speak with Marcin for missing information)

Stool (aka toilet) - Reed can secure the toilet to the ground - just needs to take a look at the pipe and get a flanged

Need plumber for the following:

1) Install OSE’s propane tankless water heater

2) Install propane gas piping for tankless water heater, propane tank, and cooking stove

3) Install the dishwasher

4) Install an electrical connection for the dishwasher and tankless water heater

5) Fix toilet (trap problem?), evaluate flush on second toilet

6) Inspect plumbing ventilation--does it exist? Is it properly installed? Is there a venting problem that is causing the gurgling/smell from the kitchen drain?

Need propane contractor for the following:

1) Install propane tank and run lines to building

NOTE:

The back exit of the plumbing is cap’t off, there is no air getting in...waterlock/venting needed. It is like a syringe. Can we open it up? Put a U shaped vent.

July 4, 2013 - received Faulkner’s quote from Billy, see here

June 25, 2013 - Katie spoke with Dean. Dean says he can send Billy out Thursday PM, after lunch, around 0130PM. Dean has my name, phone, and email.

June 19, 2013 - Updated Hablab Plumbing Issues:

1) Plumb external lines to stove and flash water heater that meet code for large propane tank installation

2) Plumb water line from sink to new area for d/w

3) Fix toilet (trap problem?), evaluate flush on second toilet

4) Inspect plumbing ventilation--does it exist? Is it properly installed? Is there a venting problem that is causing the gurgling/smell from the kitchen drain?

NOTE:

The back exit of the plumbing is cap’t off, there is no air getting in...waterlock/venting needed. It is like a syringe. Can we open it up? Put a U shaped vent.

June 17, 2013 - Faulkner Plumbing no-showed again.

June 14, 2013 - Audrey received a voicemail from Faulknew Plumbing stating that they were unable to come out on Fri for the estimate, but would be here Monday.

June 12, 2013 - Audrey called Faulkner Plumbing (816-232-0138 POC: Dispatcher is Dean), they will be out to look at the d/w line, the toilet, and the possible venting problem on Fri, 6/14/13.

Also called Reed Plumbing 816-632-3113 for a quote, left a message.

June 12, 2013 - Audrey called Bud’s Sewer Service (816-232-4017), was redirected to Mike’s cell phone number (816-390-6983). Confirmed Mike was coming out today to scope the pipes.

June 5, 2013 - Audrey called Bud’s Sewer Service (816-232-4017) and rescheduled service for the afternoon of Fri, 6 June due to rains at FeF this afternoon. (double frown) They have a busy Fri and will try to fit us in, but may not be able to. MTF.

June 4, 2013 - Audrey called Bud’s Sewer Service (816-232-4017) and rescheduled service for the afternoon of Thurs, 6 June due to heavy rains at FeF this morning. :(

June 3, 2013 - Audrey called Bud’s Sewer Service (816-232-4017) and scheduled a service call for tomorrow, June 4, 2013 in the afternoon, contingent upon the amount of rain.

Interns snaked the line from the vent to the house and seemed to clear some of the blockage, but the snake is not pliable enough to make some corners; tests show a better flow, but the potential for backup exists with multiple faucets running.

May 29, 2013 - Audrey met with Mike from Bud’s Sewer Service at FeF. Mike wasn’t able to get the van up the driveway, but he “eyeballed” the issues as best as he could without equipment. He believes we have a simple clog, but won’t be able to fix it until the driveway dries out. I need to call him next week. Because of this delay, Faulkner Plumbing’s trip out here on Friday is delayed as well (I spoke to Dean, who had already heard from Mike about his issues and they are delaying our job until sometime next week).

We will be billed for a service call from Mike (Bud’s Sewer Service), he agreed to wrap this into the entire bill since I have no way of paying him today.

May 28, 2013 -  Audrey called all four plumbers in Cameron and left messages or there was no answer.

May 27, 2013-- Received a call from Husam (intern) saying there was sewage coming up the drain pipe in the kitchen. He mentioned he had run one load of clothes in the washer and taken a shower. I emailed Marcin about the issue--the drain pipe should be able to sustain the flow of water from both the shower and the washer. Need a plumber ASAP!

They were booked through next week, not taking appointments. We were told to check back, but we left with the feeling that they were not interested in the work.
