Dec 3rd: 7:53 pm: walked across WESTMAMBALAM,RAGHAVAREDDYCOLONY, ASHOK NAGAR FOR THE LAST 4 HOURS. NO POWER,NO PHONES, NO MOBILE SIGNALS,no vehicles unless its a SUV. BUT NO PANIC SITUATION ANYWHERE. Drinking water available, food stocks good. we kept speaking to people on the roof and balconies of houses

KEY CITY/INTERCITY ROUTES

BANGALORE_CHENNAI: 5 Cars have made it to Bangalore via Chetpet - Aminjikarai - Poonamallee. The road till Bangalore is dry. Sriperambadur and Kanchipuram are not flooded! Take the Parry's - Central and reach Chetpet, cross Anna Arch and stick to the highway. Stay close to the median in case they are clogged. All the buses are running from Koyambedu
KANCHIPURAM_KOYAMBEDU - The road is quite good. There are areas that have potholes, but no water logging at all
#‎MCITY‬ TO ‪#‎GUINDY‬ - the roads are clear. No water logging and moving traffic. Shops are open.
Mylapore to T Nagar : along TTK Road, Eldams Road, Nandanam: 2-3 feet of water, advised not to travel there.
Maduravoil flyover: you cannot head towards Tambaram, so avoid the flyover completely.
Koyembedu flyover to Chetpet Bridge: Absolutely no problem on the roads.
Chetpet Bridge to Gemini: again, no problem, except for a bit of water logging on Nungambakkam High Road.
Gemini to TTK Road signal: no problem.
TTK Road signal to RA Puram: no problem, but a bit of water logging near Billroth Hospital.
Greenways Road signal to Boat Club area - water logging on the stretch
Billroth Hospital signal to Music College via Mylapore: no problem except for a bit of water logging near the playground next to Music College.
Adyar signal to Thiruvanmiyur signal: no problem.
Adyar Bridge: no problem, but the Adyar Flyover is closed.
Road from Guindy to Tambaram open now.
Routes to OMR - heavy water logging towards Buckingham Canal AND towards Tidel Park SIGNAL (basically the only 2 options to reach the OMR)
Post OMR - Perungudi toll Plaza motorable
From City towards ECR - turn left towards thiruvanmiyur...there are pockets of waterlogging but motorable
Heading South out of Chennai pallavaram-->tambaram-->perungalathur-->chengelpet-->dindivanam-->trichy route is totally cleared for traffic to flow.
Eldams road, Teynampet to Adyar - Roads are clear.
KKNagar to Mambalam - Commutable till Postal colony. Arcot Road → Vadapalani signal, take right → Go straight till Ashok Pillar, take left → Straight and 2nd left → Reach ‘Sangamam hotel’ and park.
Chetpet, aminjikarai all the way to the bye pass Road were bone dry.
Porur lake was overflowing onto the bye pass, but could easily drive through.
Koyembedu from Porur - traveling by auto so water logging not that bad. some places are waterlogged but two wheelers and autos plying.

Dec 3 7:30 A.M Athreyapuram Main Road and areas adjoining F5 Police Station have fairly less water. Electricity is available in few houses. Sankarapuram still has water uptill ground level but should recede with no further rains.
Choolaimedu end of Shenoy Nagar is relatively safe. Places around Harrington Road are better. No Electricity but mobile networks(Airtel specially) and BSNL landlines also work.

Update Dec 4th 4:29AM IST: Spoke to someone who answered the phones in Commissioner's office who was very patient but at the same time very generic and didn't want to get into specifics. I inquired about KK Nagar, CIT Nagar and Thoraipakkam. He said that the water level has come down drastically in the past few hours in these areas and asked not to panic if they are not accessible via phone. Last spoke to my brother at 9:30PM IST on 02/12/2015. Water logging is low- moderate. Some places have electricity. Will again update information for this location at 06:00AM IST. (This status was updated at 03:54AM IST - 03/12/2015).

Last known update from one neighbor - water is coming down may be knee deep, most people in Wood Creek county safe and in their homes. No power or cell phone reception. Heard local store was open at that time. Rescuers were there to check on and evacuate as needed. But most folks staying as water seems to be receding. No update on exact level of water there.

Dec 4th 08:00AM - Water is draining in Mudichur and Tambaram areas, now only 2 to 3 feet water in mudichur that too for short stretches, power came in most of the areas. No worries and not need to panic about tambaram area.
East tambaram area update near rajakilpakkam: Dec 4, 630 am, no rains since yesterday. Just intermittent showers. Landlines and mobiles not working for most of us but a few numbers get connected occasionally. No flooding.
Dec 4th 1:14am - West Tambaram - Water levels are receding, and power has been restored a few hours back.

Dec3, 2015 11.19 pm - Cenotaph flyover signal has completely receded and can be easily accessed
Vellala teynampet. The area between Stella maris and DMS is safe. Water stagnation is manageable.

THIRUVANMIYUR:

Dec 4th ~8:00AM - Thiruvanmiyur signal to tidel some flooding (unconfirmed reports - 2 feet)
Dec 3rd, 11: 30 a.m.: Water is around 3 feet. Kalakshetra road is blocked to access by vehicles. Boats n navy have come to the rescue yesterday

4th Dec, 5.30 AM - Water is at 2 ft. NDRF is working on this area.Situation seems to be improving overall.
3rd Dec, 1:25 PM IST: The area is still quite flooded, but rescue ops are on. Main road was clear, however the internal areas/streets had about 5 feet water.

Dec 4th, 5:00 am: 100ft road till hotel bheemas was clear of water.MTC Buses functioning even from vadapalani bus depot saw 27C, 12B and buses towards Porur. None of the mobile towers work from vadapalani till porur

Dec 4th 12:15: Sridevikuppam main road- water reduced greatly and Kamakoti Nagar -no water logging There is intermittent power, no mobile signal
Dec 4th 10:00 am - Arcot Road Flooded.
Dec 4, 08:00 am - Chinmaya nagar (near velankanni school) : Able to commute from Chinmaya nagar to Valasaravakkam and back without issues. Water has receded significantly on main roads. Power restored in Chimaya Nagar. No power in Valasarawakkam. Cell networks still spotty. Prices for milk / supplies marked up significantly
Dec 4th, 4.45am - Valasaravakkam and Alwarthirunagar: water levels are slowly reducing. Power is yet to resume in most parts due to stagnant water.
4PM Dec 3rd - According to NDRF, Manapakkam is likely to be cleared by end of the day.

Dry Areas : Velachery Bye Pass road. Area from phoenix mall up to murgan kalyana mandapam clear of water. Gangai Nagar, Sakthi vijayalakshmi nagar, natesan nagar etc.
Water logged: Buvaneshwari Nagar 2nd Main road, behind Chennai Silks

Landline connectivity intermittent.This area can be used as rally point for rescues from the more flooded interior velachery regions
