  1. Have the children name some of the bugs they know.
  2. Have the children answer: Do you think the bug you named  is a good bug?
  3. Read “The Very Grouchy Lady Bug.”
  4. Discuss story elements.
  5. The teacher will read aloud “Good Bugs!”
  6. Review vocabulary with the children.
  7. Have the children name the bugs mentioned in the book.
  8. Have them answer the following questions: Can you recall the names of the bugs we learned about? What are some of the harmful bugs mentioned in the book?  How could you compare and contrast a ladybug and an aphid?
  9. Distribute activity p. 140.
  10. Have the children color yes if the picture shows a good bug or no if the picture does not show a good bug.
