Recording Yourself
These are all for GarageBand, but this could work for audacity. It will have a similar operating procedure.
IMPORTANCE OF DOING THIS CORRECTLY
- Record with a metronome, use headphones so you don’t pick up the audio of the metronome
- Make sure you are tuned

- Count in
- Delete a mistake
- Trim
- Punch IN recording technique
- Adding another track
- Select your track to make sure you record on the correct track
- Have your headphones on
- Remember Count in Click
- Metronome
- Label your track
- SAVE - SAVE - SAVE - SAVE
- Zoom
- Trim
- Delete
- Move
- Dynamics
- Editing is non destructive, you can just drag out again

- move the end of your recording all the way up
- turn off metronome
- Make it WAV
- add audio tail, make sure there isn’t a whole lot of talking, just send the audio file
- Label your regions/Tracks
- Export all of the tracks separately - SOLO!
- If you are exporting multiple tracks pick which tracks you want to export by clicking SOLO.
- You need to have the same settings as what the track was recorded at because of tempo, key wont matter so much right now, unless you have a specific key, but if just for recording your audio, that is fine.
- Time signature will matter
- Find your audio and drag it into a NEW track
- Solo/Mute
