We would love for those in Mike Stroud’s camp to please address this teaching in podcast 1 Nephi 17

According to Mike Stroud, men are being instructed in the spirit realm right now by translated beings, mentors, and instructors regarding their future missions.

He taught:

  • "There are men who are going on missions for the Lord right
now in the spirit being instructed by translated beings, tutored and taught in the instrument and
the means, that’s the word used in the Book of Mormon, the means whereby they can accomplish
their mission. These men are being shown by their instructors, their mentors, who are translated
beings, exactly how to act in every circumstance. They are shown in real time the mission that is
yet to be fulfilled in the future. This is not difficult for God to do because in the dimensions
where he resides; Of which there are innumerable dimensions; where all things are before him
past, present and future in the now. He can instruct you in your future mission by having you
participate in that mission right down to the very details of that experience in the spirit before it
actually takes place at a later date in the future in the flesh. Why do this? Because in the future
time when emotions are high, circumstances are dire, environment is critical, there is no time to
decide what to do. There is no time to be easily distracted by the circumstances around you. You
have to act and act now and do so with assurance and certainty that you are doing exactly what
the Lord’s ask you to do. Make sense to me that would be much easier if you have seen all that
right down to the detail in the spirit before you actually participate in it in the flesh".

Joseph Smith taught:

“Nothing is a greater injury to the children of men than to be under the influence of a false spirit when they think they have the Spirit of God. Thousands have felt the influence of its terrible power and baneful effects. …

As we have noticed before, the great difficulty lies in the ignorance of the nature of spirits, of the laws by which they are governed, and the signs by which they may be known; if it requires the Spirit of God to know the things of God; and the spirit of the devil can only be unmasked through that medium, then it follows as a natural consequence that unless some person or persons have a communication, or revelation from God, unfolding to them the operation of the spirit, they must eternally remain ignorant of these principles; for I contend that if one man cannot understand these things but by the Spirit of God, ten thousand men cannot; it is alike out of the reach of the wisdom of the learned, the tongue of the eloquent, the power of the mighty. And we shall at last have to come to this conclusion, whatever we may think of revelation, that without it we can neither know nor understand anything of God, or the devil; and however unwilling the world may be to acknowledge this principle, it is evident from the multifarious creeds and notions concerning this matter that they understand nothing of this principle, and it is equally as plain that without a divine communication they must remain in ignorance. …

“A man must have the discerning of spirits, as we before stated, to understand these things, and how is he to obtain this gift if there are no gifts of the Spirit? And how can these gifts be obtained without revelation? ‘Christ ascended into heaven, and gave gifts to men; and He gave some Apostles, and some Prophets, and some Evangelists, and some Pastors and Teachers’ [see Ephesians 4:8, 11]. And how were Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers and Evangelists chosen? By prophecy (revelation) and by laying on of hands:—by a divine communication, and a divinely appointed ordinance—through the medium of the Priesthood, organized according to the order of God, by divine appointment. The Apostles in ancient times held the keys of this Priesthood—of the mysteries of the kingdom of God, and consequently were enabled to unlock and unravel all things pertaining to the government of the Church, the welfare of society, the future destiny of men, and the agency, power and influence of spirits; for they could control them at pleasure, bid them depart in the name of Jesus, and detect their mischievous and mysterious operations when trying to palm themselves upon the Church in a religious garb, and militate against the interest of the Church and spread of truth. …

This follows the pattern established in the 5th Article of faith that a “man must be called of God by prophecy and by the laying on of hands by those in authority to preach the gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof”.

So you have to ask yourself, “Was Mike Stroud called, set apart, and commissioned by those in authority to preach a doctrine such as seeking the spirit realm and being instructed by “translated beings” about your future mission?

Where can we find any such doctrine taught in the church by any of the Prophets?

This is the original letter:

TO whom it may concern:

This is an open letter to any and all of Mike Stroud Podcast listeners.                                          ,

I am writing this letter because myself and several people have noticed many doctrinal flaws in Mike Stroud’s podcasts. We are concerned for the spiritual welfare of those whom Mike Stroud has influence over.  Many people have felt something was off in these podcasts but aren’t sure  how to help their friends and family who have being led down this forbidden path.

I was added to a group on Facebook called “Students of Mike Stroud” by a friend. Mike Stroud is a member of this group. He doesn’t seem phased by these very concerning conversation taking place.  I was in disbelief as I started reading the thread conversations that people were having on this forum about the things they were learning as they listened to Mike Stroud’s podcasts. Since then I have listened to several and have noticed many alarming  and glaring false doctrines and practices that he consistently promotes throughout his new and recent podcast and public lectures. I have watched as  people who follow his teachings religiously have been led down strange paths and have reported to have strange experiences themselves. None of what I have witnessed has been edifying, holy, or good. On the contrary, I have felt a very dark spirit enter my home each time I put on a podcast. In fact, I had to stop listening as I have done research for this letter. I have had to use typed transcripts of his podcasts so that I don’t offend the Holy Ghost by playing his podcasts in my home.

Honestly, I don’t even know where to start. But I will start with his recent presentation that he gave at the Preparing a People Conference on November 16-17, 2018.

As he starts his talk, he lets the audience know that everything that he will be teaching them  will be based upon his “experiences” over the last year.

So let’s think about this for a moment. He is teaching what he calls Gospel mysteries but not based upon what is written in the scriptures or from the mouths of the Holy Prophets but by that which he has only experienced in the last year?  This is was red flag for me.  Why?

He is preaching an “experimental gospel” not one BASED ON TRUTH WITH THE WORDS OF CHRIST AS A FOUNDATION.  What is an “experimental gospel”? This is a belief actually found in New Age Philosophy where TRUTH is not based on the Word of God but it is based on what your spiritual experiences tell you.  This means one’s experiences are subjective . If I have an experience different than Mike Stroud than the truth I follow is based on my experience and not necessarily based in reality/truth or even the word of God. I know this is what he is doing because he is not afraid to modify his view based on the experiences he has had or based on the experiences of others.

Now, before I continue, I do realize he is really good at quoting scripture. But I have found that he actually WRESTS the scripture more often than not.

One example of how he wrests the scriptures.

In his talk at the Preparing a Conference November 16-17, 2018… He wrested Ether 3:13. Mike taught:

“So, one of the great mysteries of godliness is something that all of Adam’s posterity have been striving to do for the last 6000 years with limited success. That is to, while in the flesh, come up and behold the face of God. This is what it is all about. So the greatest mystery of all, brothers and sisters, is how do we come up while in this life, in the flesh, see God face to face? That’s what it’s all about. When that happens you are then redeemed from the fall that’s what that means. I show myself unto you therefore thou art redeemed from the fall, Ether chapter 3. Ether 3:13 … therefore thou art redeemed from the fall… I show myself unto you”.

If you read his explanation very carefully of how Mike Stroud claims  we come up and behold the face of God while in the flesh. He twists the meaning of Ether 3:13. He says that you aren’t redeemed from the fall until God shows himself to you while in the flesh. But this isn’t true and this is not what happened to the Brother in Jared. When you read that verse in context we learn that because the Brother of Jared had such mighty faith and because he  gained so much KNOWLEDGE he was redeemed from the fall which then enabled him to be brought back into the presence of the Lord. Mike Stroud is teaching it in reverse. This is concerning because he is teaching people to seek spiritual manifestations from ‘angels” or even God himself in order to become what he call “Highly Favored of the Lord”.  This is also not what we learn in the temple. In the temple, it is very clear that we are brought back into God’s presence only AFTER we have made  and kept  sacred covenants,  gained the necessary knowledge, endured to the end, while looking to the true messages who are ancient and  modern Prophets and Apostles who have the Proper Keys and Authority.

Mike Stroud is teaching a gospel not based on these sacred truths learned in the temple but rather from his “experiences” of seeking to see God in ways that are not taught in the scriptures and are outside of the ordinances of the  Holy Temple.

For example, here are some of his quotes where he talks about the  “truths”  he learned that aren’t found in scripture but are based upon his “experiences”.!!!

“As I experimented with these concepts…”

“Almost all the experiences I’ve had in the last year have taken place between 3 AM and 6 AM in the morning”.

“Today I want to share with you some things I’ve learned and experiences that had..”

“My purpose is to simply share with you some things that I’ve learned and experienced in the last 6 to 8 months”.

“ I’ve learned some things in the last year or so. I want to share those things with you”. (this was another really big red flag for me. Once again these ‘truths” he claims to be presenting are NOT  based upon his years as a gospel doctrine teacher, missionary, or a seminary teacher. They are based on “new truths” he has only recently “experienced.

He even said at the Preparing a People conference in November 2018:

“I would like to share with you some things that I’ve learned. I’ve learned that we look at things in a skewed, perverted way. We think that we’ve got this all nailed down. But I found out this. You need to be prepared to be taught from on high. And in order for that to happen, you have to have a mindset that you’re allowed to take anything, and maybe everything, you ever understood or thought you understood and be prepared to turn it loose. That’s not to say that you will be required to. The Heavenly hosts want to know if you’re willing to do that, because as long as we’re holding onto any false expectations or beliefs, twisted truths, traditions of the fathers, false concepts, false precepts than it makes it difficult if not downright impossible for the truth from God to come into us and become a part of us. You need to be prepared to be taught”

He is teaching people to no longer trust what they have always known or even have been taught but to turn it loose. Even calling their understanding of the doctrines “false concepts, false precepts and false traditions”.

As Helaman powerfully taught, “And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall” (Helaman 5:12).

The foundation that we should build all truth upon is the rock which is Jesus Christ. The rock and foundation are his teachings and his words found in Holy Scripture. And instead of teaching his listeners to stay with the FOUNDATION he is suggesting that they have to start thinking differently, to turn their thoughts loose.

I would argue,  Any and all truth that we  accept should be BASED ON SCRIPTURE AND NOT SOMEONE’S EXPERIENCES!!!!

How does anyone who listens to Mike Stroud really know if his so called visits from the spirit realm come from the RIGHT SOURCE?

Because many of his experiences he claims  to have come from angels , Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father and Mother, actually contradict scripture, I firmly believe that not only is Mike Stroud deceived by an angel of light ( 2 Corinthians 11:14)  he is DECEIVING MANY even thousands of people through his NEW podcasts. I will present my evidence in this letter.

  1. At the beginning of his presentation at the Preparing of People conference two months ago, Mike Stroud DECLARED:

“Well I want you to know that our Father and his Son can do whatever they want - any way they want. That’s the first thing I’ve learned. In my thinking and my own expectations were that these things had to happen this way, this way, one thing following another thing. I’ve since found out that we don’t limit them; they can do it anyway they want. They can take four things that I would list in a sequence one, two, three, four. And they can do them not only in any other sequence but they can do them all at once if they want”.

This contradicts scripture. God doesn’t do whatever he wants whenever he wants. Why would Stroud want you to believe that God will do whatever he wants? Could it be so that you accept what he is saying even though it doesn’t sound like anything the scriptures teach us??

The Lord  tells us plainly in the revelations:

14 And again, I will give unto you a pattern in all things, that ye may not be deceived; for Satan is abroad in the land, and he goeth forth deceiving the nations—(Doctrine and Covenants 54).

Here we learn that God follows patterns. Scriptural patterns so that we will not be deceived.

Joseph Fielding Smith gave us additional insight into this verse:

Satan is abroad in the land, deceiving the nations, and he will deceive us unless we are firmly grounded in the faith, unless we base our salvation on truth, unless we search for gospel knowledge. and understanding. The Lord has required of us, as he sets it forth in many of the revelations given to the Church, that we should search the scriptures, and make ourselves familiar with the teachings they contain. If we will do this then, we will not be led astray by every wind of doctrine and foolish teaching of men in the world, but will have power to understand and discern between truth and error and choose the right, avoiding that which is wrong. Every member of this Church has it within his power to know the truth, so that he may not be deceived. This knowledge will come to us through our study, through faith, through perseverance, and through living in full accord with the ordinances of the gospel.

May the Lord bless and guide us, I pray, in all things, that we may be steadfast in the truth in these days of peril, these days when there are so many false doctrines prevailing in the world and men are striving to destroy the fundamental teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Conference Report, April 1928, Second Day-Morning Meeting 68.)

Then again in section 134 verse 8 The Lord  tells us that he is a God of order.

8 Behold, mine house is a house of order, saith the Lord God, and not a house of confusion.

II.  Another one of his teachings that contradict scripture is the idea he plants in your head that you don’t need to worry about being deceived.

Let’s compare what Mike Stroud says to what Jesus Christ says in scripture and what every Prophet since the Restoration have warned us.

Keep in mind that Mike Stroud says “Don’t be afraid of being deceived” as he teaches you that is is okay  do what he is doing when he goes into his meditative trance in the early hours of the morning and claims to be either leaving his body or going into different spirit  realm to have interactions with angels or with the Lord himself.  (Where in the world are we taught that in scripture by the way? I would argue, NOWHERE!)

We are counseled to meditate  on the scriptures, yes. That just simply means to reflect or think deeply about the word of God. But Mike stroud is literally teaching his listeners how to go into an  hypnotic trance like meditation where you clear the mind of everything and visualize being in a different spirit realm and visualize the Savior being next to you  even to the point that it feel like you leave your body.

Mike Stroud teaches in Podcast 05 Spending Sacred Holy Time with the Lord Jesus Christ on December 4, 2018  the following:

“Now this is challenging because this is going to require you to do some work at this point. You’re going to need to seek to and here’s the words I want to use: find, enter in, and abide in sacred, silence, and stillness. Now the challenge is, if you’re like me, is that your mind and your thoughts are racing everywhere. Don’t be discouraged as you try to enter into this place of quiet. The Lord talks about this when he says, be still and know that I am God. Whether you want to call the process to get there meditation or whatever you want to call, it is work, and it takes effort in this world to find this place, enter into it, and abide there. Practice, don’t be discouraged. When you start to do this you will find that your thoughts are all over the place. You become very aware through this process of your thoughts and distractive nature of your thoughts and the elements of this world. Stay with it. Stay with it, practice makes perfect. I liken it to backing up to an easy chair. Somebody asked me other day what it was like and I said I liken it to backing up to a big easy chair. I backup, standing up, until the back of my legs touch the edge of the chair, and then I start to bend down. At somewhere in that bending process, the force of gravity takes me the rest of the way and I sink into the chair and settled in. It’s a pretty good description because up until when gravity takes over it’s your effort to get to that point with the gravitational pull settles you in the chair”.

“Let me share with you from my own experience that began to happen as I sought this experience and tried the Lord with this experiment.  I want to share with you a journal entry comes from April 2018,  This morning I had a wonderful experience as I spent time with the Lord. I was sitting on my couch visualizing him sitting near me and we were just having a casual conversation. I asked him about his day and how he felt when so many were going about their lives without thinking about him. I found that my mind was continually being drawn away from our time together by the cares of the world, and I was constantly focusing on bringing my thoughts back to him. He was pleased with my efforts to concentrate and focus and rewarded me three different times with what I can only describe as it is infusion of light and truth and love.”

“This feeling was one of lightness beginning in the center of my chest in the solar plexus region and radiating outward in waves, very pleasant. It was such that I desired experiences and again and again. I’ve experienced this before and startled me maybe wondered if I was having some heart issues and that I would lose consciousness. This time I just let it engulf me and enjoyed the sensation” ... This is a feeling of lightness and euphoria, begins in the chest hard area, and slowly expands outward, is subtle yet very noticeable, it almost feels as if you’re being drawn upward and out of your body, it radiates outward in a swelling motion and is very desirable”.

Let me explain what Mike Stroud  is really teaching: He is teaching a practice called “astral Projection” though he never uses that word.  But he sure does use the word “experiment” a lot. He is experimenting with “astral projection” believing this is how you rend the veil and have a face to face conversation with God and Jesus Christ.  So when you know what it is that he is doing it is easy to understand what he is really  describing.  Here is a brief explanation:

A voluntary out-of-body experience, is called “Astral Projection”.  A person trying to achieve an out-of-body experience in order to connect with spirits or the spirit world is practicing the occult. There are two forms of this. The first is called the “phasing” model, in which the person tries to find new spiritual truth by accessing a part of the mind that is "shut off" during everyday life. This practice is connected to Buddhism or postmodernism and the belief that enlightenment is achieved from looking within oneself. The other form, called the “mystical” model, is when the person tries to exit the body entirely, his/her spirit traveling to another plane that is not connected to the physical world at all.

The scriptures do not teach or give examples of mystical experiences to draw near to God. We cannot bring ourselves closer to God through a technique of fantasized trip but are brought near God through obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel.

The Bible explicitly warns against occult practice, or sorcery, in Galatians 5:19-20, saying that those who practice it will not inherit God's kingdom. God's commands are always for our good, and He commands us to stay far away from occult practices because there is great potential, when trying to access the spiritual world, of opening oneself up to demons who can tell us lies about God and confuse our minds.

I am in no way suggesting that Mike Stroud is purposely experimenting with the Occult/ New age/ mystical gospel. I firmly believe he was seduced into these practices by someone he trusted. He tried them out and  like he said, he “experimented” ,  he enjoyed  the “euphoric” feeling he got  with his new experiences, and now he is trying his best  to get others also to do what he is doing.

He said in one podcast:

I listen to some of our brothers and sisters who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as they testify of Jesus Christ and of his gifts that are poured out upon them and I feel the power of the spirit and know that what they’re testifying of is true.

Here he admits that he is learning from people who are outside of the church. Why is he promoting ideas and methods from those without Priesthood keys and authority?

Here he admits to being influenced by Denver Snuffer. Snuffer was excommunicated for Apostasy in 2013!!!

I have read all of Denver’s material. I have learned much from what he has said. Denver has set his course on a path that he is pursuing. Time will tell where it leads. I gather information from whatever source I can, and then seek to discern through the Holy Spirit if it is truth or error. (Comment on Podcast 014: Unbelief Revisited/Priesthood Introduction)

“And that began my quest for all of these things. That doctrine opened up other doctrines, things that lead up to– there are certain things that have to take place prior to you obtaining this great blessing, and I learned about those. And one door after it opened and it seemed like as soon as that door was open that the Lord sent information to Margie and I that we’d never received before. It just seemed to flow to us. And one thing came after another thing, and after another thing, and we started to experience things. We started to have great experiences, spiritual experiences, great pearls that came our way, and it all started because some guy that lives in Sandy, Utah, wrote a book and in it testified that he had seen Christ… (Podcast 014: Unbelief Revisited/Priesthood Introduction, about 49:36)

Here is another time he shares his “out of body experiences”. This was also from his presentation at the Preparing a people conference in November 2018:

One time I asked the Lord, ‘Lord am I traveling at night?’ Because some time ago Margie and I came to the realization that the time that our body sleeps is a waste of time. Right? My spirit doesn’t need it. So we in our prayers would kneel down and say, ‘Father, if we can be of help or assistance to anybody while our body’s regenerating you have our permission and we say we would love to do that, and by the way we don’t need to not to consume it upon our lusts.’ And so we’d start saying that prayer; started having some experiences that made me wonder so I went to the Lord and I asked him after I did learn to converse with the Lord through the veil – I’m going to share some things there. And I said, ‘have I been traveling at night?’ And he said, ‘yes.’ And I said, ‘I don’t know it.’ He said, ‘I know.’ That was it. There’s that little humor again – ‘I know.’

Mike Stroud is teaching all of these NEW and EXPERIMENTAL concepts that are NOT based on any scriptural truths or words of the Prophets. And he is so determined to convince his listeners not to be afraid of being deceived!!!

 Podcast 07 published December 16, 2018  1 Nephi 3-4  (on page 8) @ minute 19-22

Mike Stroud taught:

“Don’t be afraid of being deceived. Don’t be afraid of doing the wrong thing’

“You don’t have to worry about being wrong. Don’t worry about being deceived. Step out”

Just to demonstrate that Mike Stroud has a habit of trying to convince his audience that they shouldn’t be afraid of being deceived, In a conference in Layton utah in 2017, a young man in the audience asked a  question during the Question and Answer period.

A young man named Daniel Christensen, a 24 year old  full-time student at the university of Utah asked Mike Stroud:

“How can i avoid being one of those who are deceived”?

Mike Stroud responded:

“Don’t be afraid of being deceived. Fear of deception is deception. Fear of being deceived effectively stops you. Don’t be afraid”.

We learn from the words of Jesus Christ in scripture that DECEPTION is the most important sign of the Second Coming.

Towards the end of the Savior’s earthly ministry, His disciples came to Him with several questions concerning the future: “Tell us … what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?”

Jesus responded: “Take heed that no man deceive you”.  I would argue that this is extremely significant.

In a talk titled, Beware of False Prophets and False teachers, Elder M Russell Ballard taught:

Brothers and sisters, the exact time of the Second Coming is known only to the Father (see Matt. 24:36). There are, however, signs that scriptural prophecy relating to that tumultuous day is being fulfilled. Jesus cautioned several times that prior to His Second Coming, “many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many” (Matt. 24:11). As Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is our duty to be watchmen on the tower, warning Church members to beware of false prophets and false teachers who lie in wait to ensnare and destroy faith and testimony. Today we warn you that there are false prophets and false teachers arising; and if we are not careful, even those who are among the faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will fall victim to their deception.

President Joseph F. Smith gave wise and clear counsel that applies to us today:

“We can accept nothing as authoritative but that which comes directly through the appointed channel, the constituted organizations of the Priesthood, which is the channel that God has appointed through which to make known His mind and will to the world. … And the moment that individuals look to any other source, that moment they throw themselves open to the seductive influences of Satan, and render themselves liable to become servants of the devil; they lose sight of the true order through which the blessings of the Priesthood are to be enjoyed; they step outside of the pale of the kingdom of God, and are on dangerous ground. Whenever you see a man rise up claiming to have received direct revelation from the Lord to the Church, independent of the order and channel of the Priesthood, you may set him down as an imposter” (Gospel Doctrine, 5th ed. [1939], 41–42).

When we think of false prophets and false teachers, we tend to think of those who espouse an obviously false doctrine or presume to have authority to teach the true gospel of Christ according to their own interpretation. We often assume that such individuals are associated with small radical groups on the fringes of society. However, I reiterate: there are false prophets and false teachers who have or at least claim to have membership in the Church. There are those who, without authority, claim Church endorsement to their products and practices. Beware of such” (Elder Ballard)

Joseph Smith also taught:

"False prophets always arise to oppose the true prophets and they will prophesy so very near the truth that they will deceive almost the very chosen ones." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 365.)

And another quote: "The ravening wolves are amongst us, from our own membership, and they, more than any others, are clothed in sheep's clothing, because they wear the habiliments of the priesthood; they are they [who are] distorting the truth”. We should be careful of them." (J. Reuben Clark, Jr. Conference Report, Apr. 1949, p. 163)

So why is Mike Stroud contradicting counsel we have been given by Jesus Christ in scripture and by almost every prophet since the Restoration? Why  is Mike Stroud working so hard to convince his listeners he isn't deceiving them?

Elder Dallin H Oaks taught:

In the beginning, when a powerful spirit was cast down for rebellion, “he became Satan, … the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will” (Moses 4:4). He and the spirits who follow him are still deceiving the world. Modern revelation declares that “Satan hath sought to deceive you, that he might overthrow you” (see D&C 50:2–3).

These are not passive warnings but very real dangers and we are taught that even the “very elect” are susceptible to these deceptions.

III. Mike Stroud regularly and causally speaks of talking with “Angels”

At the Preparing a People conference in November 2018, Mike Stroud related a story to the audience of one encounter he had with an angel. He said:

“So I’m sitting in the front room with my son, a couple other people, I told them about an experience I had seeing and talking with an angel”...

Later in a talk he shared an experience of a lady sitting in the audience. He said:

“We had a sister who is here in this room tonight, come to our house, she sat down and she was sitting under her favorite place on the mountain where we live sitting under a sacred pine tree and had had an angel come and had revealed to her, her eternal name and her title. She was sharing that with us and while this was happening the Lord said, ‘ask what you will and I’ll grant it.’ So she said, ‘Lord, what about the tribulation?’ And the Lord came back and said, ‘it’s always about the tribulation.’ And she said, ‘I didn’t know you were sarcastic.’ And he said, ‘I speak all languages.’ Isn’t that beautiful? That’s who they are. Let’s lighten up a little bit. Should we have some fun in this? I’ve found out they are just the most congenial, fun, happy people that you will ever, ever meet. Beautiful”.

He also consistently and continually teaches that Translated Beings are coming down from the City of Enoch. From the same talk at the Preparing a people conference he stated :

“So that’s where the Lord wants us to go. This group and others like this have been prepared  for these very things. There are translated beings among us on the earth. They look like us. They come down from the city of Enoch. There are true messengers and with all that there is darkness, counterfeit, subterfuge, and all kinds of other stuff to confuse, to destroy and make afraid. It’s all there; so how are you going to determine this? You going to ask for their bona fides by testing them with a priesthood sign? The ultimate way for you to find out something that you come up against us if from our Father and His Son and from the heavenly hosts or is a clever very close camouflaged counterfeit is this: by their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather figs of thistles and grapes of thorns? By their fruits ye shall know them”

In 2017, at the Layton conference he told another audience the following:

“Well Brothers and Sisters, there are translated beings on the earth right now. The day is here. They have always been on the earth but there is an increase right now. There are people who are coming down from the City of Enoch. They can see us. They know the time is here. Can you feet it?  These beings are coming down from the City of Enoch and appearing to men and women who are awake and aware of their mission. There are covenants, ordinances, and ordinations involved in the process. If you have always had an interest in this and you feel drawn to it it’s because this is your future. I honestly believe we are looking at a group of gatherers. What’s another name for gatherers?  THE 144,000”.

“I was talking to a man who has SPECIAL INFORMATION about translation. We were talking about the use of portals and how they move through portals. If you want to find out more about that take out “Spencer’s Book again, dust it off, take a look. There is some real stuff in there. And he said “Mike, here is how it works”. My ears perked right up”.

This is a reference to Spencer in Visions of Glory. So all of Mike’s talk of Translated beings, portals, and Angels coming and ordaining people is from Visions of Glory. NOT SCRIPTURE, NOT the words of the Prophets, not the President of the Church or Priesthood leaders. Mike is preaching the false doctrines found within Visions of Glory. There has been plenty written about Visions of Glory and why it is considered false doctrine. If you are not familiar with it, I have enclosed a link to  Fair Mormon article that has articulated some very serious concerns with Visions of Glory and its content. Mike has even suggested that these “translated beings or angels” are literally “ordaining people” right now to be members of the Church of the Firstborn or the 144,000. https://www.fairmormon.org/archive/publications/spencers-visions-of-glory?fbclid=IwAR3ZmH-z5BmsBk-UPNzmixev6Xwb49iPARFN3EKTwOW-cvsjuzRVrBBmu4o  ( or just google visions of glory + fair mormon)

How can an angel ordain anyone in their current fallen state to be members of the church of the Firstborn when Doctrine and Covenants section 76 verses 50-70 teach us that we do not become members of the Church of the Firstborn until after the Resurrection and only those who are worthy to inherit the  Celestial kingdom become members of the Church of the firstborn.

From LDS.ORG  “The Church of the Firstborn is Christ's heavenly church, and its members are exalted beings who gain an inheritance in the highest heaven of the celestial world and for whom the family continues in eternity”

“What do you think the name of the Church will be after the resurrection of the just? Will it be called the Church of Jesus Christ of Millennial saints? That sounds funny, but we do know the name of the Church once the earth is celestialized, it is "The Church of the Firstborn." Elder McConkie said it this way, "The Church of Jesus Christ is his earthly church, so The Church of the Firstborn is his heavenly church." (The Promised Messiah: The First Coming of Christ [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1978], 46.)

When Mike told his audience at the Preparing a people conference: We had a sister who is here in this room tonight, come to our house, she sat down and she was sitting under her favorite place on the mountain where we live sitting under a sacred pine tree and had had an angel come and had revealed to her, her eternal name and her title.

I honestly could not believe that he would dare make such a bold admission. Do you really believe that Angels would come and reveal someone’s “Eternal name and Title”. Is this not a counterfeit to the true ordination found within the Holy Temples??? Is this not a complete Mockery of how our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ uses ordinances inside his Holy House where we receive a new name??

Here is a very important WARNING given to us by the Prophet Joseph Smith during the school of the Prophets  concerning the idea of angels coming to the earth to ordain man once the Priesthood has been established upon the earth.

Joseph Smith's testimony concerning being ordained by angels , delivered in the school of the prophets, in Kirtland, Ohio, in the Winter of 1832-33:

"One Francis G Bishop an Elder in our Church was very to be ordained a High Priest but he was not considered a proper to fill the office at that time and his urgent solicitations to be to the High Priesthood confirmed the Saints in the opinion that wanted a high station without meriting it or without being called by the Spirit of the work He was sent forth into the world to preach in capacity and calling of an Elder but he was not out long before he himself to be a High Priest and that he was ordained by an angel heaven This made much stir in the branches of the Church and in the world But when the news of his proceedings reached the Joseph he called Bishop home forthwith He was introduced into school of the Prophets and there closely questioned upon his course said he was ordained by an angel to the High Priesthood yet on a close examination he crossed his own testimony and statements confused and blushed with shame and guilt he fell down upon knees and confessed that he had lied in the name of the Lord begged be forgiven and cried aloud for mercy We all forgave him but we not give him our confidence for he had destroyed it Elder Sidney was present at that meeting and though he has since fallen still knows that my statements are correct Zebedee Coultrin was also and many others that I might name.

Brother Joseph observed to Bishop that he knew he had lied before confessed it that his declarations were not only false in themselves but involved a false principle An angel said Joseph may administer word of the Lord unto men and bring intelligence to them from upon various subjects but no true angel from God will ever come ordain any man because they have once been sent to establish the by ordaining me thereunto and the Priesthood being once on earth with power to ordain others no heavenly messenger ever come to interfere with that power by ordaining any more He to the angel that came to Cornelius and told Cornelius to send for but if there had been no Peter with keys and power to administer the might have done it himself but as there was the angel would not Saul was directed to go to Annias for instructions and to be administered to by him but if there had been no Annias with power and on earth to administer in the name of Christ the Lord might done it himself You may therefore know from this time forward if any man comes to you professing to be ordained by an angel he is a liar or has been imposed upon in consequence of transgression by angel of the devil for this Priesthood shall never be taken away from Church. (Orson Hyde, "Although Dead, Yet He Speaketh: Joseph Smith's testimony concerning being ordained by angels , delivered in the school of the prophets, in Kirtland, Ohio, in the Winter of 1832-33," Millenial Star 8/9 (20 November 1846): 138-39L

George Q. Cannon taught:

“Some people think, "If I had only the ministration of an angel, it would satisfy me." Do you know that when you receive the Holy Ghost you receive something that is greater than an angel?... The ministering of an angel appeals to our outer senses. We see with our eyes. But we may be deceived, for Satan, it is said, is able to transform himself almost like an angel of light. But not so with the Holy Ghost. When that descends upon a man, he knows it, and the testimony which it gives cannot be taken away”. (George Q. Cannon, Gospel Truth: Discourses and Writings of President George Q. Cannon, selected, arranged, and edited by Jerreld L. Newquist [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1987], 266)

IV  Mike Stroud boasts of regularly speaking with Heavenly Mother, Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ through the Veil.

I would  argue that the way Stroud describes these experiences and conversations are blasphemous in nature and highly offensive to our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ and their true nature and Character.

For example, Mike stroud said: (this is another quote from his talk at the Preparing a People conference in november 2018)

Let me share with you something about conversing with the Lord through the veil. They have a great sense of humor. Oh my gosh. They have a great sense of humor…”

I know one man I talked to, and he will hear this and recognize the story, he said, ‘Mike’, he says, ‘when I started to practice conversing with the Lord that I decided that I had to speak very slowly to him.’ And I said, ‘well, whatever.’ This is good we’re all doing that the best we could. And so he said, ‘I was speaking very slowly to him; a voice came to me and said, why are you speaking so slowly?’ Isn’t that great? It’s who they are. I don’t know how you pictured them but I always pictured them pretty straight-laced and that if we need to make an attempt to access them it’s going to take formality, ceremony, and pomp and circumstance after all this is the King and the Queen so we have to be very, very-- When I first started to make the attempt to see what was on the other side of that wall, that we call the veil, man, I wrote some of the greatest psalms you’ve ever seen in your life. My psalms would rival anything David wrote. Set them up against anybody. They were beautiful. They were inspired the Lord gave it to me, but I have to hunch as they watched me growing through these motions I almost consider them chuckle and just having fun watching this. I would sing songs, you know this was my preparations to approach the Lord and pierce the veil. What do I know, nobody’s given me a book on this stuff. So guess what I have a few mentors, like we all have somebody, you’ve heard a bunch of them up here today that are mentoring. That are sharing their experiences, for that reason? So that you can come up and obtain these things. That’s the whole idea. We need these.

In the quote above, Mike Stroud not only suggests that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is a funny, non-serious being who likes to have fun but that he has a great sense of humor and he just likes to laugh at us.  And if you notice he also reveals that he is being mentored by others who claim to have experiences seeing God. But once again, I would ask... How do any of us know if the spirits are being tested and if they are not being deceived by Satan appearing as angels of light?!!?

Maybe this is why the Prophet Joseph Smith taught:

“Let us be faithful and silent, brethren, and if God gives you a manifestation, keep it to yourselves” (History of the Church, 2:309).

Brigham Young: “Should you receive a vision or revelation from the Almighty, one that the Lord gave you concerning yourselves, or this people, but which you are not to reveal on account of your not being the proper person, or because it ought not to be known by the people at present, you should shut it up and seal it . . . as secret as the grave. The Lord has no confidence in those who reveal secrets, for he cannot safely reveal himself to such persons” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young, 43-44).

Joseph F. Smith: “Not even a revelation from God should be taught to his people until it has first been approved by the presiding authority-the one through whom the Lord makes known His will for the guidance of the saints. . . .The spirit of revelation may rest upon any one, and teach him or her many things for personal comfort and instruction. But these are not doctrines of the Church, and, however true, they must not be inculcated [i.e., taught and distributed/published] until proper permission is given” (Joseph F. Smith Correspondence, Personal Letterbooks, 93-94, Film Reel 9, Ms. F271).

5. Joseph Fielding Smith: “If a man comes among the Latter-day Saints, professing to have received a vision or a revelation or a remarkable dream, and the Lord has given him such, he should keep it to himself. . . . the Lord will give his revelations in the proper way, to the one who is appointed to receive and dispense the word of God to the members of the Church” (Doctrines of Salvation, 1:288).

Mike Stroud said:

“So I had a lady call me up a while back and she is up in Utah and she said brother Stroud can I share with you this experience, and I said please do it. She says I saw man and I don’t Hknow if I was in a dream or vision, I don’t know what it was, but I saw man and he was standing in the distance and he was looking at me. It was just the two of us. I said, ‘Who was it?’ She said, ‘Why it was the Lord.’ I said, ‘How do you know it was the Lord?’ She said, ‘I just knew it was the Lord.’ And I said, ‘Congratulations, you’ve had a Second Comforter experience.’ And she went, ‘Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.’ And she immediately went down, ‘No, he didn’t talk to me, he didn’t embrace me, he didn’t call me by name, we didn’t do any of that.’ So I said,’ Let me ask you a question. You say that’s the Lord Jesus Christ?’ ‘Oh yeah.’ ‘How did you feel after this encounter?’ She said, ‘I felt peace, and joy, and happiness, enthusiasm, confidence.’ I said, ‘did you feel comforted?’ She said, ‘Oh yeah.’ I said, ‘He is the Second Comforter.’ ‘But I thought…’ And I said,’ No. And it’s for that reason that I’m here today. Many of us have blocked these marvelous experiences because we have an expectation that they should be a certain way and that expectation blocks the experience.”.

If this lady really had a Second Comforter experience, why does she have to confirm it through Mike Stroud? Why is she not seeking the confirmation of the Holy Ghost? Why did she not TEST THE SPIRITS like we are taught to do in Doctrine and Covenants?

Doctrine and Covenants Section 50 warns:

1 Hearken, O ye elders of my church, and give ear to the voice of the living God; and attend to the words of wisdom which shall be given unto you, according as ye have asked and are agreed as touching the church, and the spirits which have gone abroad in the earth.

2 Behold, verily I say unto you, that there are many spirits which are false spirits, which have gone forth in the earth, deceiving the world.

3 And also Satan hath sought to deceive you, that he might overthrow you.

4 Behold, I, the Lord, have looked upon you, and have seen abominations in the church that profess my name.

5 But blessed are they who are faithful and endure, whether in life or in death, for they shall inherit eternal life.

6 But wo unto them that are deceivers and hypocrites, for, thus saith the Lord, I will bring them to judgment.

Mike stroud continues to say:

“The other morning I was with the Lord in that our time and I felt something happening in this place here (rubbed the center of his chest). I don’t know how to describe this. Some of you will know what I’m talking about. Many of you are going to leave here today and are going to go after this. It is highly desirable. Once you get in there the only fooling I can feel is such a powerful feeling of love and light and truth infused into you somehow, there is some work going on in here (rubbed over center of chest) and he’s doing it for you. You are accessing the fullness of the power of the Lord Jesus Christ in a holy place that in this world changes you into being like him. In the middle of that - it’s just waves. It just comes for me – I don’t know about you. I can’t say this is going to happen, I don’t know. For me it comes in as waves. And I just sit there…”

“That’s the only thing I could describe it. And I learned at that point that whatever they’re doing here with us has to be carefully metered by divine beings because it too much was given to us I had the feeling it would be destructive. We couldn’t take. So don’t be afraid - approach them. The veil was never meant, brothers and sisters, to be a wall. It was meant to be penetrated. Even your very temple endowment experience is to teach you how to go through that veil and come into the presence of God and see Him face to face. That’s what it’s all about. That’s what the Gospel is. This is where I believe we’re being invited to go”.

Mike Stroud continually encourages people to “rend the veil” and to seek angels, divine beings and even God himself  calling it highly desirable. Isn’t that what Eve told Adam to convince him to partake of the forbidden fruit?  “It is delicious to the taste and very desirable”.

Mike Stroud’s teachings are affecting hundreds of people. They are leading people down forbidden paths and these people are having experiences with beings from other realms. Most likely they are inviting demonic forces into their lives who are more than happy to give them signs and wonders and make them feel special.  Why? Because as we have been taught by our Modern Prophets and Apostles: “When Satan’s lies succeed in deceiving us, we become vulnerable to his power’.

There was a thread on the AVOW website of people sharing their experiences with “rending the veil” and spending time with the Lord as taught by Mike Stroud. There were many experiences shared but this was probably the most offensive one. Notice how this man describes his experience as “play time with the Lord”.  I would ask you to really consider if this does not blasphemy our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?

Please consider the following teachings from Elder Bruce R McConkie on this subject:

‘I am well aware that some who have prayed for endless hours feel they have a special and personal relationship with Christ that they never had before. I wonder if this is any or so much different, however, from the feelings of fanatical sectarians who with glassy eyes and fiery tongues assure us they have been saved by grace and are assured of a place with the Lord in a heavenly abode, when in fact they have never even received the fullness of the gospel.

I wonder if it is not part of Lucifer’s system to make people feel they are special friends of Jesus when in fact they are not following the normal and usual pattern of worship found in the true Church.

You have never heard one of the First Presidency or the Twelve, who hold the keys of the kingdom, and who are appointed to see that we are not “tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine” (Ephesians 4:14)—you have never heard one of them advocate this excessive zeal that calls for gaining a so-called special and personal relationship with Christ.

You have heard them teach and testify of the ministry and mission of the Lord Jesus, using the most persuasive and powerful language at their command. But never, never at any time have they taught or endorsed the inordinate or intemperate zeal that encourages endless, sometimes day-long prayers, in order to gain a personal relationship with the Savior.

Those who truly love the Lord and who worship the Father in the name of the Son by the power of the Spirit, according to the approved patterns, maintain a reverential barrier between themselves and all the members of the Godhead”.

https://speeches.byu.edu/…/bruce-r-mcconkie_relationship-…/…

In the scriptures, Prophets who have had real encounters with seeing God face to face show similar patterns. Notice how these scriptural patterns  that I will use differ greatly with what Mike Stroud is teaching people.

Because Mike Stroud distorts  the meaning or interpretation of scripture  to suit his own interests or views I would  first like to use the experience of the Brother of Jared who did see  the Lord through the veil to illustrate how Mike Stroud is teaching false doctrine. In this account, you will see that it was through the Holy ordinances found in holy places like a temple that enabled the Brother of Jared to see the Lord.

Regarding the relationship between these types of texts and the temple endowment, Elder Neal A. Maxwell of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles stated:

According to the Prophet Joseph Smith, the crucial holy endowment was administered to Moses “on the mountaintop.” President Joseph Fielding Smith expressed the belief that Peter, James, and John also received the holy endowment on a mountain, the Mount of Transfiguration. Nephi, too, was caught up to an exceedingly high mountain (see 1 Nephi 11:1) and was instructed not to write or speak of some of the things he experienced there (see 1 Nephi 14:25).

Similarly, former BYU professor of religious education M. Catherine Thomas has insightfully suggested that “the brother of Jared received his endowment on the top of mount Shelem.” It is possible that Moroni understood this to be the case, based on his awareness of similar mountain-top or temple experiences of prophets like Nephi in 1 Nephi 11 and of the people at the temple of Bountiful in 3 Nephi 11, and that he deliberately emphasized the concepts that would lead readers to recognize parallels between the brother of Jared’s experience and the rites and ordinances of the temple.

Indeed, the Lord himself told the brother of Jared that these things would come forth in the Lord’s “own due time” (Ether 3:24, 27). This points to a time when a fullness of eternal truths regarding the gospel of Jesus Christ, the house of the Lord, and the ordinances of salvation and exaltation would be restored and revealed again to mankind (https://knowhy.bookofmormoncentral.org/content/why-did-moroni-use-temple-imagery-while-telling-the-brother-of-jared-story)

We also know from Doctrine and Covenants 84:

20 Therefore, in the ordinances thereof, the power of godliness is manifest.

21 And without the ordinances thereof, and the authority of the priesthood, the power of godliness is not manifest unto men in the flesh;

22 For without this no man can see the face of God, even the Father, and live.

So why is Mike Stroud insistent that they way we see the face of God and rending the veil through meditative hypnotic type of methods he learned from “mentors” even some outside the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“Greetings my dear brothers and sisters. It’s good to be with you again. I have heard from many of you and the successes you’re having with your one hour times spent with the Lord each day. It is so exciting to hear these experiences from you and to know how much the Lord loves each one of us and is anxious to reveal himself to us as we seek to speak with him and converse with him. Some of you express a little discouragement that things are not happening the way that you think that they should. I would remind you that this is to be done in the Lord’s own way and according to his will and in his own timing. The big obstacle that many of us have is that we seek these things but we seek them and want them to be accomplished according to our own expectations and forget that this is the Lord’s gift to us and we don’t determine how, when, or where he gives the gift. We simply make ourselves available. So don’t be discouraged. Press on. I remember one time when I was seeking to penetrate the veil and to interact with the powers of heaven that nothing I did seemed to go right and I walked into the bedroom to go to bed and Margie saw the disappointment on my face after a couple of hours that I had spent making the attempt and she said, “what’s wrong?” And I said, “Just nothing. I don’t see anything. I don’t hear anything. All I see is darkness behind my eyelids. It just isn’t working for me.” And she asked me, “Mike, how long have you been at this?” And I said, “Two weeks and nothing.” And by the way this was two weeks of concentrated effort, daily. Sometimes several hours a day seeking to break on through. And she said to me, “You’re seeking to commune with and see the face of God the Eternal Father and his beloved son Jesus Christ and because it hasn’t happened in two weeks you’re ready to give up?” Margie has a way of quickly putting things into their proper perspective. We both chuckled and I decided to pursue. So don’t be discouraged my friends. This is done in the Lord’s timing because he knows perfectly well what is best for you and what will give you the greatest advantage in the world to come. Press forward. Don’t give up. There is no going back once you’ve started on this path” Podcast 07 1 Nephi 3-4  Dec 16, 2018

While Mike Stroud describes his experiences with the Lord as light hearted, fun, and with a great sense of Humor, all the ancient Prophets who were privileged to encounter the Lord in this life describe how they fell down before the Lord in reverence.

Additionally, those PROPHETS who saw the Lord also describe being struck with fear and feared being smitten because of the Glory of the Lord was so great. This is a stark contrast to the experiences Mike and his followers describe as their casual conversations with the Lord or their “playtime” with Him.

I have a lot more evidence to present. I haven’t even scratched the surface yet. But If I  had to choose the most concerning thing of all of the false doctrines Mike Stroud is teaching  it would be a Book he is recommending to people. It is called “Alive in Christ: the Gift’. It is not the Book “Alive in Christ” by Robert Millet. It is a book with an anonymous Author. You can find it on the website christspeaks.info. The website for this book says: This book is not a book about Jesus Christ. It is a book from Jesus Christ and was received directly from Him  through revelation. This book also claims to be a guide on how to rend the veil and have a personal encounters with Jesus Christ in the flesh: THe website also claims:

  • This book is a personal Gift from Him to you out of His Love and His intimate knowledge of you.
  • His message is set with a blessing to move you from just reading words to having a life changing experience, if you will let it.
  • At this time His clear instructions must come forth for the birth of a new world... a world prepared to receive Him.
  • A certain number of prepared ones are needed to stay upon this Earth for their transition into an exalted state of Glory, even a Zion Glory.
  • "Oh, how I desire to work with you; this is what the Gift of My Atonement is all about."

Why is Mike Stroud recommending a book to his listeners that claims to be channeled revelation directly from Jesus Christ? Is this not what the scriptures are for? Is the Book of Mormon not the most correct Book on earth and “a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than any other book”?  Does Section 28 of the Doctrine and Covenants  not warn us that only the head of the Church can receive Revelations for the world/church?

The Lady who said Mike Stroud recommended this book to is a seminary teacher. She is using his podcasts and his books to teach our YOUTH!!!

This is also another concern I have about Mike Stroud’s teachings. This lady, Jodi, is one of the admins of the Facebook Group “Students of Mike Stroud”. Mike Stroud is a member of this group. There are over 2,000 members of this forum including the Discussions of mike Stroud facebook .  He participates in these discussions and I have never seen him correct anything being promoted in his name or based on his podcasts like what is taught by Jodi.

Remember that those who are members of the Church of the Firstborn and those who are of the City of Enoch are actually Celestial beings not Terrestial beings.( I provided quotes earlier in this letter)  It is out of the order of God for Celestial beings to minister to the telestial worlds. There are plenty of quotes from the Prophet Joseph Smith that clearly teaches us  that those from the City of Enoch will not return until the Second Coming of the Lord. And the church of the First born will not be established until the earth has received its paradisiacal Glory and has been Celestialized. So it makes you wonder “who are the real spirits she is seeing at night”? That thought makes me shutter!!!  This lady, Jodi, is one of Mike Stroud’s biggest followers and she is also helping to teach others how to be translated right now.  She recently uploaded a file teaching how to be translated. She is using Mike’s podcasts and then mingling some scripture. Even claiming that President Nelson is supportive of their teachings on how to be translated in this life.

Please understand that I have only highlighted a very small portion of the teachings found within Mike Stroud’s new Podcasts on the Book of Mormon. He started his podcasts again on November 26,2018. I actually only quoted from 2 of the podcasts and from his public talk at the Preparing a People conference in november 2018. If I included all of the teachings that i have concerns about this letter would be closer to 100 pages. You can listen to them or read the transcripts from this website. http://briscoefamily.com/links.php

Mike Stroud has never taken any of his podcasts down as he told the public he would.  His followers saved them on a drive and shared them in a private facebook group and Mike’s friend Mechelle McDermott published all of them on her website http://www.nofearpreps.com/mike-stroud-podcasts.html

I personally don’t care what Mike Stroud says or believes. But when his teachings start affecting others especially our youth and hundreds of other people then I believe I have a covenant responsibility to raise a voice of warning to others. Elder M Russell Ballard gave prophetic counsel in his 2017 General Conference talk, The Trek Continues:

  • Brothers and sisters, keep the doctrine of Christ pure and never be deceived by those who tamper with the doctrine. The gospel of the Father and the Son was restored through Joseph Smith, the prophet for this last dispensation.
  • Do not listen to those who have not been ordained and/or set apart to their Church calling and are not acknowledged by common consent of the members of the Church.10
  • Be aware of organizations, groups, or individuals claiming secret answers to doctrinal questions that they say today’s apostles and prophets do not have or understand.

President Boyd K Packer taught:

“All inspiration does not come from God. (See D&C 46:7.) The evil one has the power to tap into those channels of revelation and send conflicting signals which can mislead and confuse us. There are promptings from evil sources which are so carefully counterfeited as to deceive even the very elect. (See Matt. 24:24.)

Nevertheless, we can learn to discern these spirits. Even with every member having the right to revelation, the Church can be maintained as a house of order.

Revelation comes in an orderly way in the Church. We are entitled to personal revelation. However, unless we are set apart to some presiding office, we will not receive revelations concerning what others should do…

An unusual spiritual experience should not be regarded as a personal call to direct others. It is my conviction that experiences of a special, sacred nature are individual and should be kept to oneself.

Few things disturb the channels of revelation quite so effectively as those people who are misled and think themselves to be chosen to instruct others when they are not chosen.

Others, fearing they also might go astray, then hold back and do not seek the source of divine revelation. Obedience to constituted priesthood authority will protect us from going astray”.

https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1989/10/revelation-in-a-changing-world?lang=eng

I am also very concerned that he using the Book of Mormon to promote his “experiences”. He claims his podcasts are just lessons on the Book of Mormon but when he adds in doctrines he is learning from “anonymous mentors”, Spencer from Visions of Glory, Denver Snuffer, and others as he TWISTS the scriptures in the Book of Mormon to give credibility to what he claims are his  experience in the “spirit realm”. I don’t believe he has the authority to teach the Book of Mormon to a worldwide audience. We need to keep the doctrine of Christ Pure! He starts out seemingly innocuous, but then he subtly ventures out into a lot of speculative ‘doctrine’ which he passes of as revealed doctrine. He brings in a lot of his interpretations and passes them off as truth. He continues to teach that the Church is just a preparatory organization whose mission it is to distribute the Book of Mormon but God is using his podcasts to bring people into the church of the Firstborn and only those who are being prepared for 144,000 are drawn to him and his teachings.

“The Brethren speak of the lesser portion of the word. Everything you hear in Church, everything you hear in general conference, every manual, every lesson, every talk is the lesser portion of the word…. If you won’t harden your heart and ask, seek, and knock for more, the Lord will begin step by step to present you to the greater portion of the word, which he refers to as the mysteries of God”.  (Podcast 021: Neutralized, about 35:20)

“It is a sign of arrogance among us as members of the church to feel that we have an exclusive reserved right to the spiritual blessings and gifts of God the Eternal Father for all of his children” Podcast BOM 07 1 Nephi 3-4 December 16, 2018

“One of the mistakes that we have in the church is thinking that only Latter-day Saints have access to these divine gifts and promises and that the Lord only speaks to our prophets and to those who have received the gift of the Holy Ghost” Podcast BOM 07 1 Nephi 3-4

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints  has the commission to publish the Book of Mormon and distribute throughout the world”...

The podcasts… I think you would be interested in knowing this. I don’t tell you this in a way of bragging because you and I know this isn’t us right? But Father has taken this to a point that we are #2 in downloads… where it goes from here, we have been impressed by the Spirit that the podcasts need to stay up. The Spirit seems to whisper to us that the Lord will continue to use them (the podcasts) as a resource to “gather people” and the Lord uses my wretched mouth as a tool and that’s where we need to be. (Shelle McDermott and Mike Stroud Layton, Utah Conference 2017)

His followers are becoming increasingly hostile in on-line forums toward anyone questioning Stroud’s claims of angelic visits, praying to Jesus Christ through the veil, or being ordained by translated beings.  They insist if you don’t like Mike Stroud’s podcasts it is because you are not ready for the meat of the gospel or because God isn’t calling you to be a member of the 144,000..

Feb 23, 2019

The following powerful passage has been completely wrested:

"The other Comforter spoken of is a subject of great interest, and perhaps understood by few of this generation. After a person has faith in Christ, repents of his sins, and is baptized for the remission of his sins and receives the Holy Ghost, (by the laying on of hands), which is the first Comforter, then let him continue to humble himself before God, hungering and thirsting after righteousness, and living by every word of God, and the Lord will soon say unto him, Son, thou shalt be exalted. When the Lord has thoroughly proved him, and finds that the man is determined to serve Him at all hazards, then the man will find his calling and his election made sure, then it will be his privilege to receive the other Comforter, which the Lord hath promised the Saints, as is recorded in the testimony of St. John, in the 14th chapter, from the 12th to the 27th verses...

“Now what is this other Comforter? It is no more nor less than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself; and this is the sum and substance of the whole matter; that when any man obtains this last Comforter, he will have the personage of Jesus Christ to attend him, or appear unto him from time to time, and even He will manifest the Father unto him, and they will take up their abode with him, and the visions of the heavens will be opened unto him, and the Lord will teach him face to face, and he may have a perfect knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God; and this is the state and place the ancient Saints arrived at when they had such glorious visions—Isaiah, Ezekiel, John upon the Isle of Patmos, St. Paul in the three heavens, and all the Saints who held communion with the general assembly and Church of the Firstborn.”

I love that (doctrinal) quote from the Prophet Joseph Smith...

What I do NOT love is the teachings of a certain excommunicated "teacher" who perpetuates the idea, that there is some 'formula' for CONJURING the Savior of the world.

The very idea that ANYONE should feel entitled to a visitation from Deity is an obvious immediate disqualification. But that lack of humility, that prideful expectant self-will, will definitely open the door to the side of the veil that CAN be CONJURED by men on earth (Moses 5:22-31)

From the Prophet Joseph Smith to the Apostles and Prophets of the past (such as John the Revelator, Paul, Ezekiel, Jacob, Nephi, Isaiah, Moses and the brother of Jared) those to whom the Lord unveiled His face had one consistent common theme:

NONE of them were EXPECTING a divine manifestation when it occurred!

The Lord does NOT hearken to the conjuring commands of men.

That would make the Savior of this world subject to men. When our only hope to have such a manifestation is to become fully subject to Him.

And, again, that is the key word – HOPE.

When something becomes an expectation, it becomes an entitlement. It is NO longer a gift. It is a demanded wage.

That has NEVER been the case with ANY Divine Manifestation in the scriptural accounts. It has ALWAYS been a gift to the faithful – who, in every instance, had no anticipation or expectation that the Savior would part the veil and grant them a witness of His glorious majesty.

I deeply worry about those who have fallen prey to this dangerous new trend towards expectantly CONJURING Deity – as though the Godhead were a set of genies in a bottle. No matter who their 'visitors' claim to be, who exactly are they opening up the door towards – in these entitled anticipatory petitions?

10 Be thou humble; and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers.
