Members Present: Marilu Hall, Joyce Bachert, Michael Waggoner, Troyce Williams, Angela Byars, Heather Santibanez
- No sodas at all in cafeteria - will not be sold
- No energy drinks
- No selling outside food in the cafeteria
- Over-the-counter medications - new state laws
- These can be given at school if:
- The medicine is brought from home
- A parent note is required
- It must be stored in the nurse’s office.
- We have a choking device in the nurse’s office. It is not approved by the American Heart Association, so the nurse can’t use it. It is available.
- Pre-K menu will follow state regulations.
- Narcan is in AED at HS and will be in the AED at the new gym.
- We are considering bringing someone in to talk about the dangers of vaping for 4th grade and up (24 Hr Emergency room or Betty Hardwick).
- Red Ribbon Week is in October.

- JH and HS students can have diet sodas.
- Marilu has a hygiene video for both elementary and secondary schools. Feel free to use them as needed.

- Food
- Teachers should not be giving out food for rewards.
- The cafeteria can sell diet sodas to high school students only.
- No outside drinks can be brought into the cafeteria.
- We must be following the Safe Snack rules.
- 3rd - 5th grade students are rushing through eating or not eating to go work on homework or go outside. We need to focus on encouraging them to eat.
- Summer Feeding Program
- Paige Mixon is working on the application to the state and she needs dates.
- Healthy Relationships Program
- Kortni Collins would like to bring in a free program done by Open Doors out of Cisco to help kids learn more about how to have healthy relationships, which is a big need.
- They have a written curriculum and it will be available for review.
- Potential topics: What is dating? What is a relationship? What does a healthy/unhealthy relationship look like? How to handle conflicts? How to handle finances? How to know when is it time to get serious/married?
- They will come one time a month and do all of the prep work and teaching.
- It can be for all grade levels from 8-12 or just one that we want to target.
- They will do a parent meeting ahead of time if we’d like.
- It will also open the door for them to bring their mobile medical unit to Baird twice a month to do medical check ups.
- Dr. Little wants the principals to review the curriculum carefully, and they will give a recommendation to the board.
