Make you feel my love (by Adele or Bob Dylan)

Adele is in love! Well, originally Bob Dylan was in love but then Adele stole his song about it. Which version do you prefer?

Task 1: Listen to the song and complete the gaps. Remember that the final words of the lines use only one vowel sound per verse – use the phonetic symbol  to help you. (Adele version) (Bob Dylan version)

Task 2: Summarise the basic idea of the song in two or three short sentences. Use the mini-dictionary below to help you. When you have finished, compare your sentences with your classmate or teacher.


somebody is on your case = somebody is insisting that you do something (in an irritating way)

to make your mind up = to decide

to do somebody wrong = to do a bad/incorrect thing to somebody

to go black and blue = when your skin turns black and blue after an accident

to crawl = to move on your hands and knees (e.g. like a baby)

to rage = to act in a very angry way

ain't = isn't/aren't/haven't/hasn't (a colloquial way to make a sentence negative)

The song is open to interpretation. It seems that Adele is telling her love that in the difficult moments of his life, she will be there to remind him that she loves him. She has decided that she loves him absolutely but he hasn’t fully decided yet if he feels the same. However, Adele feels that a change is coming - that he will accept her love.
