My dear Laszlo.
I returned home from Switzerland – detestable place! – Last evening I was pleased to find your postcard for I had been wondering in what part of the world you were.
I have been away [illegible] a fortnight at St Beatenburg, above the Lake of Thun. I couldn’t stand the abominable weather any longer – incessant rain and perpetual

mist all our stay – for days together we could not leave the hotel because of the everlasting down-pour – So, we, my wife and two children with me, returned to England and sunshine again.
I went because of my health – The bracing air of the mountains and the brilliant sun being supposed to be beneficial – I have been ill for some time and now only just able to travel when I went away.

Last year I had to go to Kissingen. I won’t say anything against Kissingen for I met Mrs Laszlo & you there – but Kissingen might be a livelier place and its weather might be improved – Some two months or more ago I had to go to a nursing home & I was operated on for appendicitis. Successfully I am glad to say. For I am here but the whole thing played “Old Harry” with me and my work as this kind of thing takes a

long time to recover from.
It is possible I may go away again somewhere to recruit but as the weather here is so charming, I may defer going until later in the year. Curiously enough we were nearly going to St [illegible] but decided on the other place – Two of my sons went off there yesterday morning making it their head quarters for a walking tour.
I hope you and Mrs de Laszlo have had a good time – our kindest regards to you both – and trusting to see you on your return to [illegible]
Sincerely yours
L.F.
