Heather’s Cozy Throw

jeffblanket2.JPG

Created by Heather Wells

** This is not a typical throw.  I use a lot of different yarns, in different thicknesses, and textures.  This pattern is broken up into stitch patterns, because I suggest different types of patterns according to the texture of yarn you are using.  Basically every time you switch yarn, you choose a new pattern to follow.  This is a perfect way to build your knitting skill, and use up some of that scrap yarn.

Materials:

I will post a video link here, showing How I choose the yarns.  Once I have chosen them, I will create a list at the end of this document with the exact yarns I am using.

I used to work at a yarn shop called L’Atelier in Redondo Beach, Ca.  I love the yarns they carry, and will be making my Blanket with yarns from them.  They will have a list of my yarns, so if there are any yarns I am using that you would like, feel free to call them at. 1-800-833-6133

I use a U.S. 10.5 circular needle for this project,  it looks really nice on a U.S. 11 as well.

I typically have an average of 190 running stitches.  if you are using a U.S. size 11 you can easily cut that to about 175 running stitches.  In this project, I increase or decrease, to accommodate for the thickness of yarn, and the amount of stitches required for particular patterns.  I will discuss this in the video tutorials, when I am changing yarns, and showing new patterns.  As a general rule of thumb I will increase stitches when doing cables, tighter stitches, and ribs, then decrease back to the running number of stitches when I am through.  For really thick yarns, I will decrease a few stitches, for thin yarn, I will double it, or even triple it.  This will all be discussed in tutorials when I come across these yarns.

In this particular case I will be using 10.5 U.S. circular needles, and casting on 187 sts.

** Every time you add a new yarn, you will treat the first row as a prep row for the new stitch.  This is where you will increase or decrease stitches.  If the right side of the blanket is facing you  knit that first row, if the wrong side is facing you purl that row.
