Preamble

Hello! I’m KrashBoomBang, and I have a lot of Fire Emblem romhack experience under my belt. So I figured I should put something like this together as a general resource for people looking to get into romhacks, or people who are looking for new hacks to try.

I will primarily be focusing on completed romhacks, giving each one a short description and a link to the patch. Note that these links also contain more screenshots and in-depth descriptions for each hack. The descriptions I provide here are more like brief overviews and my personal thoughts. So explore the links! Don’t solely use the descriptions in this document.

I also don’t intend to include any rebalances, reverse recruitment patches, etc. This is specifically for original romhacks.

If you have any romhack suggestions that I should add, let me know and I’ll throw them on here. Also, if you have any suggestions for descriptions of the hacks already on here, please leave comments so that other people can see what you think about those hacks. Hopefully this document proves helpful.

The (Former) Oifeybot Trilogy

These three hacks were all in oifeybot (currently jagenbot) before, and are generally good starting points if you’ve never played a hack before. They’re relatively close to vanilla GBAFE but with their own twists.

The Last Promise (created by Blazer) [FE7]

The progenitor of the modern romhacking scene, this one needs no introduction. If you’ve ever heard anything about FE romhacking, chances are you heard about this one. It came out way back in 2012, but I still think it holds up today. It is overall very similar in design, difficulty, and structure to FE7, but with all the standards that we’ve come to expect from hacks: an original story, world, characters, maps, soundtrack, the works. I particularly find the units pretty fun to use overall, more so than the vanilla FE7 cast.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vision Quest (created by Pandan) [FE8]

Vision Quest is a more modern hack, having come out in 2020 and benefitting from a lot of the newer tools that the community has developed. It still aims for roughly vanilla FE8 design, though with some light skills added on and generally higher difficulty (nothing too crazy though). The game aims to be ironman-friendly, with a very large cast of relatively replaceable units, though I don’t recommend ironmanning it blind (I don’t recommend doing that with any game, really). It’s also a pretty long game, having 43 chapters in total. This hack has multiple difficulties as well.

The Four Kings (created by KrashBoomBang) [FE8]

Insert the meme of Obama giving himself a medal here. Four Kings also came out in 2020 at the same time as Vision Quest, and is definitely the hardest of the three Oifeybot games. This hack is closer in design to FE6 hard mode, though with things ironed out like stronger units and better hit rates and stuff. There’s two main selling points: every character has their own personal weapon, and the midgame features an army split where you swap between two different parties for different maps. There are almost no skills, but some personal weapons do have skills attached to them. There’s also a short post game with some bonus maps. This hack has multiple difficulties as well.

Good Stuff

Alright with those first three out of the way, here’s the real meat and potatoes of this document. These are all hacks I’d recommend for one reason or another.

Shackled Power (created by Sphealnuke) [FE8]

A more recent hack that came out in winter of 2022, it’s of similarly high quality to Vision Quest and Four Kings, aiming for a vanilla-esque style of gameplay. It features a brand new weapon type, bombs, which have high accuracy, hit res, and are locked to 2 range. Notably, all of the portraits are completely custom sprites created by Sphealnuke (he even made some great custom battle animations too), which is a rarity: in most other romhacks, portraits are splices of vanilla portraits. Add in the unique TMNT soundtrack, and Shackled Power has a very distinct vibe to it.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Souls of the Forest (created by Scraiza) [FE8]

A hack with a lot of positive notoriety in the FE romhacking community, Souls of the Forest is like if you took FE12’s high offenses/low defenses design and cranked it up to a hundred (and also removed the stupid garbage from FE12 like the horrible reinforcements). It has extremely polished and deliberate game design, with a lot of unique class-specific tools such as Galeforce Swords for swordmasters.

Sacred Echoes (created by HyperGammaSpaces) [FE8]

Sacred Echoes is a combined demake of Shadows of Valentia/remake of Gaiden. It takes some elements from both games, but largely takes more from SoV. Still, it’s a very technically impressive romhack that remixes everything about SoV and puts it into the GBA engine, while still retaining a lot of its unique mechanics. If you didn’t like SoV’s gameplay, you might enjoy this different take on it instead, since most of the maps have been remade. Alternatively, if you did like SoV’s gameplay, this one might not land for you. Still absolutely worth a try, though.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Call of the Armor (created by Pandan and a lot of other people) [FE8]

Call of the Armor is what’s known as a “telephone hack.” In this relatively new hack format, a large group of hackers pass around a rom, taking turns creating their own chapters and expanding the story, like a game of telephone. Call of the Armor was the first of this type of hack, and as such, it sticks very close to vanilla FE8 mechanically. It does have some pretty unique maps that work within those restrictions, though. If you’re looking for something that overall plays very similarly to FE8, try this one.

Embers Entwined (created by buggo and a lot of other people) [FE8]

Embers Entwined is another telephone hack in the same vein as Call of the Armor, and also tends to stay close to vanilla FE8 mechanically. It has some wackier concepts compared to Call of the Armor, but ultimately is very similar to that hack. If this type of hack interests you, try one of them, or both.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bells of Byelen (created by LegendofLoog and a lot of other people) [FE8]

Bells of Byelen is a third telephone hack, but unlike the previous two, this one models itself more off of Thracia mechanically. It includes fatigue, capture, 20 caps, etc. If you really like Thracia mechanics, this may interest you.

Sun God’s Wrath (created by Blademaster) [FE8]

Sun God’s Wrath is easily the most mechanically insane hack out there. It does so many wacky things with skills, added mechanics, map gimmicks, classes and unit types, etc. Not to mention a plot that is truly impossible to follow. If you want a hack that does just about everything you could possibly imagine, this is the one for you. It’s certainly an experience you won’t get anywhere else.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Justice and Pride (created by DrGreen3339) [FE8]

Justice and Pride is notable for being one of the earliest hacks to utilize the SkillSystems patch, which adds skills to FE8. Its gameplay is most comparable to Awakening in that it’s really easy to out-stat the enemy and juggernaut over the game with magic fliers and other overpowered units. But there is still fun to be had with that. Notably, J&P does something no other hack does that I can think of: trading is a completely free action, i.e. you can move, trade, cancel your movement, and then move somewhere else to trade with another unit, etc.

Storge (created by knabepicer) [FE8]

Storge is an extremely unique hack, being more of an arcade experience than a full-length FE game. You start in a hub town with a large amount of money, and you use this money to recruit units and buy weapons, then you play out a 5 chapter campaign with what you’ve got. It’s designed to be replayed multiple times, even having unlockables and achievements for subsequent playthroughs.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Myrm Emblem (created by Renoud) [FE8]

Do you like myrmidons? This hack has all of them (well, except the ones in Engage, since it was made before that game came out). The entire playable cast is comprised of every playable myrmidon in FE, and a lot of the bosses are enemy myrmidons as well. It’s a pretty cool concept, and plays a lot better than you might think for a game where the entire cast is foot swordies.

Seven Siblings (created by WarPath) [FE8]

Seven Siblings is a mechanically vanilla hack that ultimately doesn’t do much too crazy. Honestly that’s all I got to say about it, it’s just a decent hack.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Code of the Burger King (created by Retina) [FE8]

This might look like a meme hack, and you’d be right, but it also tries to have actually good gameplay with a lot of unique mechanics and map types. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll be craving fries (burgers too, but that wouldn’t rhyme). Definitely one of the funniest hacks on here, while also having pretty deliberate gameplay design too.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Four Kings: Deposition (created by KrashBoomBang) [FE8]

Deposition is a prequel to Four Kings, following one of the main antagonists. It’s a short hack, only 8 chapters long, and is overall designed similarly to Four Kings. If you really liked Four Kings and want more of it, try this one.

Order of the Crimson Arm (created by TactHack) [FE7]

An older FE7 hack, though not as old as The Last Promise. OCA is a pretty vanilla hack that plays similarly to vanilla FE7, which may not sound too appealing, but I just think it’s overall solid (aside from the late game), even if it doesn’t do anything special. Notably, it has a playable tactician (you can name them and choose their gender, but they will always be the same unit).

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Requiem (created by Sacred Blaze) [FE7]

Another older FE7 hack that sticks close to vanilla, but Requiem is by far the most “vanilla FE7” hack you can get. If TLP and OCA are tweaked FE7, Requiem is borderline identical to FE7 in many aspects, including its problems. But it’s still overall pretty polished, so I’d say it’s worth a look if you like FE7 a ton.

Road to Ruin (created by Primefusion) [FE7]

Yet another older FE7 hack, this one takes some gameplay inspiration from FE9. It has a notably smaller cast, only 26 units, but puts more emphasis on green units and generic blue units. And it has very polished visuals. Otherwise, not much to say.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Doubled or Nothing (created by ArcherBias) [FE8]

These next two hacks are some unique gimmick hacks. The soldier pictures are purely coincidental. Doubled or Nothing’s main gimmick is that every player unit has permanent 0 speed (there are certain held items that grant a speed boost, though). It’s a shorter hack, only about 10 chapters, and gets a lot out of its gimmick. Certainly a unique experience that will make you rethink combat.

Iron Emblem (created by Relic) [FE8]

Do you like ironmans? This hack is designed for ironmans: in fact, it forces you to ironman it. Its main gimmick is that all the playable units are generics, with generic names and portraits. Stats are overall very deflated, lower than typical GBA FE. If you like ironmans, try this one.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heavens Fall (created by captainfisting) [FE8]

This hack is technically a sequel to another one, War on Two Fronts. However, you do not need to play the first hack to play this one. I don’t have much to say about Heavens Fall, it’s just a generally decent hack.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sword of Heaven and Earth (created by 38%) [FE7]

Here we have a very old Japanese hack. This hack takes place in Elibe and follows Lyn’s daughter on her own quest around the same time as FE6. It is extremely vanilla design-wise, with very little to make it unique like other hacks, though this close adherence to vanilla could be seen as its unique quality. Note that its english translation is machined translated, i.e. real bad.

Lonely Mirror (created by caladrius) [FE8]

If the previous hack is mechanically super similar to vanilla FE7, then Lonely Mirror is the equivalent for FE8. This one tows the line a little for gameplay quality, since it tends to have really bulky enemies, but it’s at least worth a look for being complete and polished.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blessed Heart (created by Shark3143) [FE8]

Like Lonely Mirror, Blessed Heart is very similar to vanilla FE8 (though with some very light skills added on). However, I think it’s generally more fun than Lonely Mirror, albeit really really easy. It’s like vanilla FE8 but if the units and maps were just more fun, I’d say. A very cozy game.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Phantom King (created by RandomMercenary) [FE8]

I’m gonna be honest, I have never played this hack. I was just told it’s worthwhile to put it on here. You’re better off clicking the link and reading the thread for more information.

Void’s Blitzarre Adventure (created by circleseverywhere and a lot of others) [FE8]

Before there were telephone hacks, there were blitz hacks! Where a bunch of people would collaborate on a hack and try to shove it out the door as fast as possible. Void here is the first of its kind, and was also one of the first hacks to utilize SkillSystems. It got a bit of polishing after release, but it’s overall very experimental. A neat piece of romhacking history.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Burdened Crown (created by GratedShtick) [FE8]

A complete hack that is mechanically similar to vanilla FE8, though with a few small additions like hybrid strength/magic classes. Nothing too crazy here.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Journeys (created by Relic) [FE8]

A generally simpler and deflated hack. Lower stats across the board and no particular crazy mechanics or anything. A good palate cleanser.

Reborn Dimensions, Olethian Princess (created by RandomWizard) [FE8]

Alright, this hack has some history to explain. Way back in the old FE7 days of romhacking, there was a super shitty hack called Different Dimension Ostian Princess. Reborn Dimensions Olethian Princess takes the framework from that shitty hack and tries to make it something that’s not total garbage, and it succeeds pretty well at that. Thankfully, it still features Marf Santalego. This hack is notably shorter, only about 12 chapters, and is mechanically pretty vanilla.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dragon Herald (created by BigMood) [FE8]

Dragon Herald is mostly made up of community-created assets, with the aim being to make a full hack with primarily those assets. Mechanically vanilla, nothing too crazy here.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isekai Emblem (created by BigMood) [FE8]

I’ll be honest, I haven’t played this hack. It’s made by the same person as Dragon Herald and is set in the same world, so if you liked Dragon Herald, try this one.

Flames of Redemption (created by Shiza) [FE8]

Another mechanically vanilla hack. Notable for having a few maps based around naval warfare, where you control an army of fleets in ocean battles.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pokemblem (created by Vesly) [FE8]

Pokemon in Fire Emblem. Do I need to say more? No I don’t, this is obviously really cool.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drums of War (created by Parrhesia) [FE8]

Another relatively new hack (as of 6/8/2023, the time of me adding this). Despite the silly title, this hack does take itself pretty seriously. The main draw is that many of the recruitables in this game are bosses or other enemies, and you can choose to either recruit them or get money/other stuff.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Vestrian Tale (created by Roze) [FE8]

This hack has been in development for some years, and finally got its release recently (as of 10/16/2023, the time of me adding this). This is a short, 10 chapter hack with a focus on the capture mechanic. I really enjoyed this one, in spite of my usual distaste for Thracia. Maps felt really well paced, and there’s lots of little fun secrets and events sprinkled throughout. Highly recommend this one, it’s easy to blast through in a day or two and fun the whole way.

Crowns and Thrones (created by RandomMercenary) [FE8]

From the creator of Phantom King comes a new hack with an interesting mechanical twist. There’s no leveling at all, and all units have fixed stats. Units are divided between generics and named commanders. If you liked Phantom King and/or FE4, check this one out.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An Unexpected Caller (created by ArcherBias and a bunch of other people) [FE8]

A new telephone hack, similar to Call of the Armor with a lot of the same people. This hack aims to use entirely vanilla assets to create something new. Vanilla maps and characters are used as the basis for everything, but with unique weapons and enemy placement and the like, making for a new experience. Very light on story, the main appeal is seeing how vanilla maps are remixed. Definitely an interesting experiment in relation to vanilla GBAFE gameplay.

Dream of Five (created by Parrhesia) [FE8]

The ancient FE7 hack is back from the grave, as the first big release in a trio for fall 2024. Originating from medieval times (2012), this hack is made by the same person as Drums of War, and features similar design philosophies. Notably, it has a fleshed out midgame route split. The game’s art speaks for itself, being unmatched by any other hack, and it has a rich political narrative (that can be a bit too verbose for its own good).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cerulean Crescent (created by Rivian) [FE8]

The second of fall 2024’s big release trio, Cerulean Coast stands in contrast to Dream of Five’s more vanilla gameplay. Units have unique personal weapons, custom skills, and there’s new map mechanics abound, but it’s all tied together with an overall focus on refresh abilities. This carries through the entire game, making it extremely player-phase-oriented. I found much of the playable cast very fun and interesting, and the maps mostly used them quite well. The story is certainly not as flowery as its above contemporary (and I often found it too pessimistic for my liking), but it does a good job of giving the characters a lot of personality.

The Morrow’s Golden Country (created by Retina) [FE8]

Last of the fall 2024 release trilogy, TMGC is certainly the most content-dense package. It’s the longest of the three on raw chapter count, while also having frequent interludes for story purposes where you can walk around towns and camps with the free movement patch. It also has base conversations in preps for every chapter. This was created by the same person who made Code of the Burger King, with similar design philosophies and stats (i.e. caps go up to 36, units generally hit their caps). It also takes pretty clear inspiration from Souls of the Forest. If you liked one or both of these hacks, you will probably enjoy this one as well.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Iron Emblem: Gaiden (created by knabepicer) [FE8]

Another Iron Emblem (sort of). This one was not made by the original creator of the first game, but instead by epicer, who also made Storge. Where the first game used FE11 as a basis, this one instead uses FE5 for that. I found it to be overall smoother than the first game, though also probably easier, since I felt like units were generally stronger. This game does have a fantastic quality of life feature, though: the Overview command, telling you details about every map whenever you want, such as reinforcement information, chest contents, etc. Whether you like ironman runs, or just want to plan ahead better, this is awesome. This game also has an added feature to change the army leader whenever they die, to make ironman runs a bit more forgiving. So your main character is no longer a game over condition, and you only get a game over when your entire army is defeated.

Curse of Lagdou (created by DoinThangs) [FE8]

A rare thing in modern hacking for custom campaigns, this is a story that takes place in a vanilla setting (Magvel, hence the whole Lagdou thing in the title). Focusing on some original characters as they navigate an altered version of FE8’s events, with the Lagdou Ruins (and what it used to be before becoming ruins) being front and center. This game features a unique crit system: displayed crit below 50 will never crit, while displayed crit above 50 will have a guaranteed crit on your first attack (crits do 2x damage), with extra ways to increase crit via unit positioning. This hack also features some nice custom CGs in-game.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Dark Amulet (created by Vorgus) [FE8]

(This came out a year prior to me adding this, and I did play it then, I just forgot to put it here).

This is a more story-focused hack that aims to have an engaging plot with lots of twists and turns. It’s certainly turned a lot of heads in that regard, though I found its gameplay somewhat lacking. It could stand to have fewer reinforcements, at least. It was nowhere near bad enough to be offensive or frustrating, but just worth saying that this is the kind of hack you play if you are interested in the story and characters from the main post, rather than if you’re looking for a tight gameplay experience. Still worth a look overall.

Lords of the Seas (created by captainfisting) [FE8]

The third hack created by captainfisting, it’s fun to see how things have evolved over time. Lords of the Seas focuses on water combat, with many maps having large sections of water terrain, and the player getting tons of units who are great at traversing water, boats included. This split between land and sea really makes this game distinct on a map design level compared to other hacks. There’s also dismounting for indoor sections, following the same mentality of defining maps with terrain. This hack also does a very unique thing with supports, which grant no bonuses at all. Instead, each support conversation grants a unique effect, such as 20 exp to a unit, some wexp, or getting a free item.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Westrian War (created by oatmealman) [FE8]

You ever play a hack with no expectations and just get floored by it? That’s what this is. This hack dropped a week ago at the time of me adding it here. It looks like crap with its character creator portraits, and its story is so thin that it could have no dialogue and it’d be the same. But this hack plays like a dream. The maps all flow so well, particularly because of how enemies are paced. This hack has very few reinforcements, and instead uses turn events on every map to make different enemy groups move at different times. It makes all the maps very deliberately paced and well thought out. Lots of cool objectives and map concepts too, like “kill 25 out of 40 enemies” or “avoid killing these red trainees.” This game is a great way to learn exactly what makes good map flow and enemy pacing. Any aspiring map designer should try this.

The Hag in White (created by SaintRubenio) [FE8]

This hack’s creator is more known for his FE8 and FE6 hacks, Dark Stone, Princess’ Lament, and Eckesachs, which all take those vanilla games and alter their stories to be darker or play as the villains. This is his first wholly original hack, with its own world and cast. The story revolves around typical FE light magic and staves being outlawed by the current reigning church, with one of the main characters being the only user of them in the game. Lots of other classes instead gain anima or dark magic, but you’re locked to that one staff user, and you’ll have to figure out how to manage that. This game also features a home base, which you can visit between every chapter to read supports and other random conversations for little bonuses. There’s even a full postgame that is almost a complete comedy, so that’s nice. Very well put together overall.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Illuminated (created by Sokaballa) [FE8]

In development for over 5 years, Illuminated is a very story-focused hack (with some pretty clear Xenoblade inspirations to it) with a cast of only 16 playable units. The plot has tons of twists and turns, though you might find it a little too wordy with how much dialogue there is. Gameplay makes use of that small cast, being full deploy all game. You can switch difficulties whenever you want, though I’d recommend sticking to easy or normal for the most part, just to see the story for yourself.

The Shadow of Dawn (created by Vorgus) [FE8]

The rare direct sequel hack, this is a sequel to The Dark Amulet, with the story continuing 10 years after the events of the first game. Much like the first game, this hack is very story-focused, with pretty lacking gameplay. If you played the first game and were enthralled by the story, check out its sequel to see where it goes. Though be careful about playing on hard mode. The game says it’s the intended experience, but I don’t think it was a good time. If you’re just interested in the story, stick to normal mode.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Homecoming (created by Parrhesia and LuminescentBlade) [FE8]

Another hack by Parrhesia and illustrated by LuminescentBlade. This hack is very similar to their other hacks, Drums of War and Dream of Five. If you liked the types of design and storytelling those games had, then this has more of that. While it claims to be “what FE6 could’ve been,” I think that is not representative of the actual content of the hack, and it is very much more of the same from what Parrhesia has made before. Which is not necessarily bad, but just be wary of exposing yourself to Parrhesia oversaturation.

Awful Emblem (created by FPzero and a whole big team) [FE8]

Despite the name, this is not a bad hack at all, it’s just named after the Something Awful forum. This is really a hack out of time, having started development over a decade ago and just now finishing up. So its design philosophies are much closer to older FE7 hacks, such as Order of the Crimson Arm, which I think is a good thing. Just got a cozy vanilla feel to it, with some pretty fun maps. The writing is also consistently fun, with a real casual feel and lots of different characters participating everywhere, not to mention full supports. I do recommend waiting until version 1.1 comes out, however, as 1.0 could get a little excessive with enemy density in the late game. Alternatively, you can play on a lower difficulty. Still definitely recommend it though!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Life of Seiros (created by Augenis) [FE8]

Here’s a hack that takes place in the world of Three Houses, following Rhea in her efforts to defeat Nemesis and his 10 Elites long before the actual events of the vanilla game. This is a fun fanfiction piece showcasing how Rhea became the person she is and made her decisions that would affect the history of Fodlan, so it’s cool if you’re really into the story and lore of Three Houses. Gameplay-wise, I can best sum up its design as being similar to FE7 HHM, which I think is pretty cool. It’s a very distinct type of GBAFE gameplay with some more unique map objectives, and some funky weapons too. Definitely a good time, and a great showing for Augenis’s first romhack.

This is the bottom of the list, where the newest entries go! Scroll up from here to see progressively older entries

Proceed With Caution

The hacks in this section are ones I hesitate to recommend for one reason or another. They’re still included, since they’re complete, but they have more glaring faults than the previous hacks.

Justice and Pride: Gaiden (created by DrGreen3339) [FE8]

J&P Gaiden takes place in the same world as the original J&P, but on a neighboring continent, so its story is almost entirely disconnected from the first game. Its gameplay, however, is radically different, and is also the main issue here. It aims for a similar style to Souls of the Forest with really high growths, but unlike that game, this one has FE10 stat caps. So instead of the deliberate design of Souls of the Forest, it’s just a really inflated experience.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

War on Two Fronts (created by captainfisting) [FE8]

This hack has a very odd approach. All stats cap at 20, but enemies tend to ram those caps after a while, which leads to some pretty annoying combat. Enemies with 18 AS are really awkward to fight. The game overall is just pretty rough around the edges. Heavens Fall, the sequel to this hack, is a large step up in quality, but if you really wanna see what came before, you can try this.

Dark Lord and the Maiden of Light (created by TytheBub) [FE7]

This hack is like Order of the Crimson Arm, except worse. Seriously, both hacks shared some developers, and have a ton of direct similarities, from story beats to entire chapters. This hack just does those things largely worse than OCA. It also doesn’t help that it was written by a 4chan user, and it’s pretty obvious sometimes. I’ll leave it at that. If you really liked OCA and want a similar experience (and don’t mind it being worse), you can try this.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Code of the Black Knights (created by Mycahel) [FE8]

This hack is in a similar boat to Deity Device, being very story-focused but with gameplay that’s really rough. I haven’t played this one personally, but when others have described it as “player-hostile design,” I don’t think I want to.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eligor’s Spear (created by Zarg) [FE8]

If you think FE12 H4 is too easy, this hack might be more your speed. If you think FE12 is too puzzly meanwhile, you will probably hate this, because it cranks that design up several notches to the point that I quit halfway through because it was too hard. Consider using save states here.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
