David Gleason studied Russian language, history, and literature at UC Santa Cruz and found his way into high tech, first as a technical writer, then later doing localization and project management. Knowing Russian opened doors for him. He was the first Apple employee in Russia, founding their office in Moscow in 1990. Later he worked in other Silicon Valley firms including Connectix, Cisco and Citrix. After a failed stint at retirement, he began exploring healthcare at Anthem where he built a technical support team and marketing content program for software developers working with the complexities of healthcare data.

Lily Ng is a Technical Program Manager at Grammarly. She earned the B.A. in Linguistics with Honors in 2014. During her time at UCSC she was a research assistant on the pioneer team of annotators for the Santa Cruz Ellipsis Project. In 2019, she earned an M.S. in Computational Linguistics from Brandeis University.

Emily Sloan-Pace (Ph.D) graduated in 2012 with a degree in Literature and a focus on Shakespeare. In 2015, she made the leap from academia to industry by taking the position of Professor in Residence at Zoho Corporation. In her time at Zoho, she has worked with teams across the company to improve the quality of communication, customer support, customer advocacy, and brand storytelling. Her work regularly takes her to the company's main offices in Chennai, India.

Dr Sarah Papazoglakis is a Senior Trust Strategist at Meta’s Reality Labs, building trust, privacy, and responsible innovation frameworks for emerging VR technologies and bridging the gap between AI research and consumer product use. She draws from her humanities PhD to help product and engineering leaders imagine and define positive social impacts of future technologies and scope the requirements needed to build privacy- and trust-by-design into foundational product architectures.

Ryan Pittington graduated from UCSC's College 8 in 2006. He majored in Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing and minored in Linguistics. He went on to a career in the tech industry, working as a Team Lead for the privacy/security team in User Operations at Facebook during the business's startup and hyper-growth phases. He then spent 12 years at Asana, playing an integral role in the company's transition from pre-public launch to IPO, and serving as the Global Head of User Operations, managing a diverse global team of more than 100. He's currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing with NYU.

Jake Vincent is a Language Engineer at Amazon Web Services. He earned the B.A. in Linguistics with Honors in 2015 and, in 2021, the Ph.D. During his time at UCSC he was a research assistant and graduate student researcher on the Chamorro Psycholinguistics Project. He has also been a Lecturer for the Department of Linguistics.
