Meeting called to order at 6:33pm

  1. Welcome and Introductions – Jenna Stites (trebeinpresident@gmail.com)
  • The 2024 Fun Run was a success! Many thanks to Trebein’s families for meeting/exceeding the fundraising goal of $48,000.
  1. Principal Updates – Lisa Walk (lisa.walk@gocreek.org)
  • Thursday, October 10th is the end of the 1st Quarter. There will be no school on Friday, October 11th.
  1. Approval of September 2024 Minutes – Kylie Sobota (trebeinvicepresident@gmail.com)
  • Kate Dobler motioned to approve the September minutes. Alethea Ward seconded the motion. All voted in favor of approving minutes.
  1. Treasurer’s Report & Proposed Budget Voting – Kristen Dowlen (trebeintreasurer@gmail.com)
  • The PTO structures its budget with approximately 80% going back to the students/school, 15% to support staff, and 5% for PTO expenses.
  • Kate Dobler motioned to approve the 2024-2025 Proposed Budget. Alethea Ward seconded the motion. All voted in favor of approving the 2024-2025 Proposed Budget.
  1. Guest Speaker: Mr. Paul Otten, Superintendent of Beavercreek City School District
  • A bond issue is a funding mechanism to make our master facilities plan move forward. The master facilities plan first came together in 2019 based on surveyed responses from school parents in the community.
  • The proposal of a new high school is not because we have a high school problem, but because we have a capacity issue. There is a 5% capacity buffer built into the master facilities plan.
  • The master facilities plan calls for Trebein and Coy to become one elementary school, not two separate elementary schools.
  • The project will cost $265M in total, with $225M allocated to build the new high school campus, $15M for the construction of dedicated gymnasiums in Valley, Fairbrook, and Parkwood, and $20M for necessary renovations in the current high school (converted to a combined middle school), Main (converted to the central office building), Coy (converted to be part of combined elementary school with Trebein), Ankeney (converted to elementary school), and Ferguson (converted to mixed-use/leasable facility space).
  • The tax impact per household is $172 (annually) per $100K based on the county auditor’s appraised home value.
  • If the bond issue passes on the November 2024 ballot, current 4th graders would be the first freshman class to go through the new high school. If the bond issue does not pass in November and runs again in May 2025, that same timeline should still be achievable. If it does not pass in May 2025, it will likely not run again in November 2025, as there is an operating renewal already slated to go on the ballots for the following year.
  • Central office staff are vacating their current office building by November 1st and renting office space for the next 7 years at Apple Valley office complex. Demoing and construction in the central office space to convert it to preschool classrooms will begin in December 2024 and finish in July 2025. This will result in 7 new preschool classrooms (all in the preschool building/former central office space) and allow the current 4 preschool classrooms at Parkwood to move into the same shared space as the rest of the preschool center.
