TODAY IS AN “A” DAY

The Positivity Project theme for this week is Leadership. Strong leadership is a way to achieve what you know is important, as groups of people invariably achieve more than individuals. If you want to achieve your vision for the future, you need to inspire others to join you. As an individual’s ability to lead develops, so does that person’s confidence and sense of self. Common dangers to guard against, however, are egotism and arrogance.

Congratulations to 8th grader Schuyler Christiana for her winning entry in the 2024-25 Health Class Billboard Design Competition!  Schuyler’s forward thinking design showcased her creativity and commitment to promoting wellness and bringing awareness to the dangers of underage substance use.  Schuyler’s work will be displayed on a billboard in Niskayuna in the near future through Lamar publishing with the sponsorship of our very own community organization N-CAP.  We’ll let you know when and where!

The Positivity Project theme for this week is Appreciation of Beauty & Excellence. It’s an outward facing strength, meaning we are focused on the world outside our head. And, not only are we outwardly focused, but often deeply absorbed in a sense of awe or admiration, freeing us to forget anxieties and troubles. According to author Toni Morrison, “At some point in life the world’s beauty becomes

enough. You don’t need to photograph, paint or even remember it. It is enough.”

Today’s History Club Trivia question is:

Which American president is credited with introducing macaroni to the United States?

Congratulations to the JV Boys Tennis team for winning their match against Burnt Hills, 8-1.  David Amirbekian, Itihaas Balmari, Matthew Huang all won their singles matches against their opponents. Next match is at home against Colonie.

The Mod 9 Softball team pulled off a hard-fought 12–10 win over Averill Park yesterday, showing incredible determination and teamwork from the first pitch to the final out!

Emma Smolyn came up big at the plate, launching a clutch home run, driving in 4 RBIs, and leading the team in stolen bases. Allie Knobloch, Keira Levan, and Isabella Cancelliere brought the pressure on the base paths, combining to score half of the team’s runs and keeping Averill Park on their heels all game.

Way to battle and bring home the W—congrats again, Mod 9!

Happy Birthday to Finlay Hughes, Andre Sokolski & Mr. Adamek

Happy Weekend Birthday to Alara Bornholdt, Evan Holt, Jack Beck, Doug Koch, Nathan Leveillee, Elizabeth Szydagis & Avery Tulachanh

Happy Arbor Day!  Trees play a crucial role in mitigating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and releasing oxygen. Urban neighborhoods with more trees tend to have healthier residents and lower stress levels and trees contribute to the beauty and value of communities, providing shade, habitat for wildlife and even reducing noise pollution.

Have a terrific “tree” day Weekend!
