IV. PROCEDURES

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson.

Drill

Tell whether the following is sure to happen, likely to happen or impossible to happen.

  1. One day, the sun will set in the east.
  2. Taal Volcano can be found in Batangas.
  3. Quezon City will again become the capital of the Philippines.
  4. Your mother prepares the ingredients. She will cook the food.
  5. The baby cries. She is hungry.

Conduct a drill on recording and expressing outcomes of simple probability experiments.

Have a drill on the likelihood of an event to happen.

See TG p.355

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

Have a review on constructing double horizontal and vertical bargraph

Conduct a review on solving routine and nonroutine problems using the data presented see TG p.349

Conduct a review on how to solve routine and non routine problems.

Ask the pupils to give some strategy in solving problems.

Have a review on solving problems on probability.

  1. What is the chance of drawing a red ball from a box with 4 balls colored red, yellow, blue and green?
  2. What is the probability of picking an 8 from a bag with numbered cards 1 to 10?

C. Presenting Examples/ instances of the new lesson

-Have the class listen to the song Pagdating ng Panahon

-Discuss the message of the song relating to prediction.

Put three balls in a box of red, blue, and white colors. Ask the class of the probability of picking a red ball without looking. Return the ball if it is not red, do this 10 times.

Talk about experiences  when there is a typhoon.

Emphasize the importance of volunteerism in helping people .

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

Present to the class a one peso coin.

Ask: If I will toss this coin, which do you think will come out, the head or the tail?

Present the situation on TG p. 353.

Present the situation on TG p. 355.

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2

Group the children into fiveteams. Ask the class to perform the task assigned to each group. Write the results of the simple experiments on a manila paper using the table.

Group A&B-Using a Spinner

Group C – Drawing marble from the box

Group D&E-Using numbered cards

See TG pp.349-351 for the table

Ask the groups to post their output on the board.

Group the children into five teams.

Have each group solve the problem

Have each team present their outputs on the board.

Group the children into five teams.

Have each group create  a problem on simple probability.

Have each group present their outputs on the board.

F. Developing mastery

(Leads to Formative Assessment 3)

Discuss Explore and Discover on LM p. 258.

Discuss Explore and Discover on LM pp.261-262

Discuss Explore and Discover on LM pp.269

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living

Ask the pupils to work on Get Moving on LM p. 263

For mastery, continue working on items on Keep Moving LM pp.263-265

Let pupils work in pairs in answering items under Get Moving and Keep Moving on LM p. 267.

For more practice, solve the problems under Keep Moving on LM p.267.

Ask the pupils to work on Get Moving on LM p. 270

For mastery, continue working on items on Keep Moving LM pp.270

H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson

Lead the pupils in giving the generalization by asking “How do you record simple prediction?”

Lead the pupils in giving the generalization. (TG p. 354)

Lead the pupils in giving the generalization. (TG p. 356)

V. REMARKS

VI. REFLECTION

Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your students’ progress this week. What works? What else needs to be done to help the students learn? Identify what help your instructional supervisors can provide for you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant questions.

A. No.of learners who earned 80% on the formative assessment

B. No.of learners who require additional activities for remediation.

C. Did the remedial lessons work? No.of learners who have caught up with the lesson.

D. No.of learners who continue to require remediation

E. Which of my teaching strategiesworkedwell? Why did these work?

F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve?

G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with other teachers?
