Crime Documentary Opening Project

Location 1

Location 1

Location:

Sanur Beach (Segara beach)

Events in scene:

In this scene, 2 best friends are hanging out together and capturing their moments before going to university.

Pros of location:

  • Great environment setting
  • Can visit anytime and is free to shoot there as it is a public location
  • Near each other's house so we can visit often if needing to reshot or do any improvements.

Cons of location:

  • Environment may be crowded especially we are going to film this on the weekend
  • Sound or microphone difficulty due to the gusting wind can disturb the clearance of the audio.
  • The unpredictable weather, raining in the beach could disturb the shooting

Alternatives:

Swimming pool inside a friend’s house

Risk Assessment

Potential hazards:

  • Wind causing a sand going inside the actress’s eyes
  • Bugs because it is outdoor and might harm the actress

Evaluate risks:

Strong wind in the morning that might cause the actresses to be ill.

Control measures:

If the weather is really bad we could use our alternative location to shoot as we prioritise the actresses well being.

Responsibility:

Making sure that the audio is clear, especially outdoors which we could be done with using our phone / microphone.

Time frame:

In the morning at 8 am

Other notes:

Bring hat and sunglass since the weather most likely will be hot, find areas that are less crowded.

Location 2

Location 2

Location:

Classroom

Events in scene:

  • Interview of the detective and the assailant

Pros of location:

  • Well maintained
  • Clean environment
  • Easy to alter props as we already gained permission to go in and out
  • Stable lighting throughout the classroom

Cons of location:

  • Will have to pay extra attention to the props since its school property meaning we shouldn't break any props
  • Gaining the permission from the school can take time as it needs to be approved by the principal
  • As we only use one class it doesn't have that much variety of what shots we can take
  • High traffic area
  • Not all of our houses are near the school making transportation a bit of a hassle which makes it harder for us if we need to retake those specific scenes

Alternatives:

  • (Rara’s) dads office

Risk Assessment

Potential hazards:

  • Earthquake
  • Fire breaking out
  • Broken school equipment (chair, table, boards, projector, etc)

Evaluate risks:

  • Seek shelter but us students have learned safety drills on how to properly evacuate when there's an earthquake
  • Again us student have learned the proper safety drills but teachers and security guards on site also learned how to properly distinguish a fire
  • Have to take accountability for those broken equipment but in school there's a clinic and first aid on hand near our classrooms just in case an accident was about to fall out causing the actors/production team to get injured.

Control measures:

  • We can't control when or how a natural phenomena happens which is why we can minimise the risks by knowing safety drills and have backup location on hand which allows us to retake the whole scene.
  • Having someone in charge of props and mise-en-scene in order for us to pay extra attention to those props and to further minimise accidents on site.

Responsibility:

All of the crew on site

Time frame:

Any time of day but more leaning to morning-evening

Other notes:

Location 3

Location 3

Location:

Kitchen Table / cafe (Byrd House)

Events in scene:

Opening university acceptance letter

Pros of location:

  • In the house (intimacy and closeness between the 2 characters)
  • Can shoot anytime since it is in a friend’s house
  • Taking place in a cafe which gives a sense of urgency especially portraying an important moment

Cons of location:

  • Might be a bit dirty and disorganised since it is used for the family table.

Alternatives:

Kitchen table or cafe.

Risk Assessment

Potential hazards:

Outbursts of fire since it is close to the kitchen, sharp edges and slippery floor.

Evaluate risks:

Actresses could fall due to slippery floor as it is in the kitchen and might bump into sharp objects that might cause injuries.

Control measures:

Making sure that there is no spillage on the floor, all kitchen necessities are being inside the place.

Responsibility:

All of the crews and people in that place.

Time frame:

During the evening
