Sitters’ Book II, f. 10: Dorothie Feilding June 21st/17

De László was commissioned by the sitter’s father to paint a pair of formal portraits of the sitter [1946] and her fiancée Captain Charles Moore [6362] in June 1917. Their wedding took place 5 July and the artist made this study portrait soon after as his personal wedding present to the bride.

Lady Dorothie wrote to the artist to thank him: “only a little line to thank you by letter as well as de vive voix for your charming wedding present. I think it is too nice of you, especially to have given me a sketch in colour. I shall value it very much indeed.”[1]

For biographical notes on the sitter, see [1946].
