The Periodic Table of Elements

Valaree Adams, Sean Purbaugh,  Daniel Ruiz, Rose Bohannon

Activity Questions:

  • What information does each square on the periodic table give us?
  • Where are the metals, metalloids, and non-metals located on the Periodic Table?
  • What is a Period and a Group on a Periodic Table?

Part 1: Reading the Periodic Table

1. Take the image of the Periodic Table of Elements and outline and label 3 sections:

  • Metals - Blue Outline
  • Metalloids - Green Outline
  • Non-Metals - Yellow Outline

2. Again, take the image of the Periodic Table of Elements and Circle and label 2 more parts:

  • A Group - Red Circle (only circle and label one of the groups)
  • A Period - Black Circle (only circle and label one of the periods)

3. Insert a drawing of how to read an element square on a periodic table.  Make sure to label all the parts

Part 2: Element Research

Directions: For each element, you are to fill in the chart only using the periodic table. It is important that you do not use anything else.  Use the periodic table in the book to do this activity.
