І. Introduction to the lesson
1. Warming up
T.: Good morning, children. Nice to meet you. Today we continue our talk about shopping, the things you can buy in the shops, money and different kind of stores. You’ll revise the vocabulary on the topic in dialogues, games and exercises.
2. Phonetic drill
Look at this tongue-twister and let’s read it together. Pay attention in the sounds.

[ ] – bitter
[ ] – better
Betty Botter bought some butter,
But she said: “The butter’s bitter!
If I put it in my batter
It will make my batter bitter”.
So, she’s bought a bit of better butter
And she put it in her batter
And the batter was not bitter.
It was better that Betty Botter
Bought a bit of better butter.
T.: And now answer my questions. Who is the main character of this poem? (The main character is Betty Botter.) Where did Betty go? (She went shopping.) Why did she want to buy butter? (I think Betty wanted to make cake.)
II. Main part of the lesson
T.: You have some words and the empty table. In 2 minutes put these words into the right columns according to their definitions.

A Birthday Present
Yesterday Billy went with his younger sister Helen to buy something for her birthday. She didn’t really know what to get, but she liked the idea of a pet, so they went to the nearest pet shop. Helen looked at the animals. The shop assistant showed her the rabbits and hamsters, but she saw some puppies playing in the box, and said: “I’d like to have the puppy!” Billy was afraid that their mother wouldn’t let them to have a dog in the house, but Helen promised to look after it, so they bought a little brown dog. The shop assistant also gave them a special dog’s brush and some special food. Helen was happy! And so was Billy.

Now imagine that you are at the shopping mall. Every pair has own task: 1st pair – at the greengrocer’s department; 2nd pair – at the clothes` department; 3rd pair – at the toy’s department.

1)Do ex.1, p.122. Read, listen and say which kind of shop the family visited last Sunday.
2) Work in Chain. Do ex.2, p.123 – ask and answer the questions.
IIІ. Summing up and home assignment
Great! Now I am sure that you won’t be hungry in a foreign country. Thank you for your work, you were very active, it was such a pleasure to work with you. Especially I like the way… work today. Your Home task will be to make up the short story about your going to the shop.
