Belton Woods Golf Club (BWGC) Competitions Conditions (Gents’ Section)
BWGC Competitions will be run under the rules of the following:
The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A), England Golf, The Lincolnshire Union of Golf Clubs (LUGC), The Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) – Unified Handicapping System.
BEFORE PLAY COMMENCES
1. All competitions are open to full members of Belton Woods Golf Club. Competitors must have an Official CONGU Handicap. It is the responsibility of the competitor to know his or her current exact handicap.
If your HOME CLUB is elsewhere: You should be on our system as an away player / competitor and must hold a current Handicap Certificate and be prepared to show it to any competition official on demand.
2. The Committee will arrange for a Booking Sheet/Sign-In sheet to be made available to the Shop (either manual or electronic). Competitors will pay the appropriate entrance fee where applicable, some senior competitions are exempt, supplementary cards must be paid for before play. The Sign-In/Booking Sheet should be annotated accordingly. In paying the entrance fee, the competitor agrees to all the competition conditions set out below. Competitors must pay the appropriate competition fee in full but sweeps are optional.
3. If there is no draw for partners, then players should have cards marked by a fellow competitor. Where this is not possible, a Committee Member (included in this instance, are the Pro Shop Staff) should be approached, who may be able to appoint an ‘official marker’. In the unlikely event that one of the above officials is not available, a player may continue with a non-appointed marker.
4. Failure to comply with any of the Entry Conditions in items 1, 2 or 3 will result in the non-processing of the scorecard and exclusion from the competition. This non-processing will exclude the competitor from all prizes and sweeps, including 2s sweeps, and that score will not count in any Eclectic or Order of Merit competition. There will be no refunded fees and these fees will be paid into the *BWGC Members’ Fund.
5.In the event of a competitor cancelling a pre-booked tee time on the day of the competition, or failing to turn up for the pre-booked tee time, the committee will seek to recover the entry fee which will be paid into the *BWGC Members’ Fund. Competitors may be liable to suspension from further competitions as determined by the Committee.
6. BWGC Dress Code must be observed.
7. Competition schemes are provided for all sections of the Membership who have official handicaps. Junior’s that have achieved a competition handicap of 28 or less, qualify for Gents’ Competitions and will be able to play with an adult member of the Club or with other juniors provided they have a competition handicap. By invitation, Junior Members 18 years and under, may be included in other adult competitions, based on playing merit (certain events have an adult theme for prizes to which a group of juniors would be discouraged).
8. Prize winners in all competitions must hold an ‘Active competition handicap with a CDH number’ prior to the event. All Trophy Competitions (Trophy only) require that the winning competitor must have an ‘Active competition handicap with a CDH number’ and also completed 6 BWGC 18 Hole Qualifying Competitions prior to the event you may win the 1st Voucher prize of the day but not the Trophy itself (NB: The Senior Section only require 3 Qualifiers). The qualification year will run from the first qualifying competition following the Club Championship to the final round of the Club Championship the following year.
9. On our courses and in our local competitions, a multi-functional device may be used such as a phone, provided the purpose is not a breach of the Rules, e.g. you cannot make a phone call to ask for advice.
10. The use of Distance Measuring Devices (DMD) is allowed in all BWGC competitions. DMDs must conform to R&A rulings (Rule 14/3).
ON COMPLETION OF THE COMPETITION ROUND
11. ALL CARDS, whether completed or not for Gents competitions, should be posted in the Competition Box,
preferably as soon as the scores are entered on the Club V1 system. Incomplete cards must still be posted and marked (N/R) no score returned /or injured. (The Senior Section and Mixed events should hand their cards in to the appropriate person/registration desk as per the event guidelines.)
Each card must have the following information CLEARLY stated: Competitor’s Name, Competition Title, The Date, Competitor’s Playing Handicap, Competitor’s Signature, Marker’s Signature, and Gross Score’s which must be clearly identifiable and for all team competitions must clearly identify which gross score is to count for scoring purposes.
Any Gents, Competitor/ Competitors seen on a Competition day within competition times by the handicap or general committee with a scorecard in hand in the bar will be disqualified unless it is complete and the score is already entered. Any adjustments should be done as soon as you leave the course, or if wet in the pro shop, with a member of staff required to initial replacement scorecards.
12. Failure to comply with any of the conditions in item 11 may result in disqualification. Competitors may also be liable to suspension from further competitions for continuously failing to return score cards. If a competitor is disqualified they will lose all monies in any sweeps.
13. Using full handicaps (and fractions thereof) ties will be decided on the last 9, 6, 3, 2, 1 holes and then a card play-off from the 1st hole. 36 hole competitions will be decided on the last 18, 9, 6, 3, 1 hole’s and then a card play-off from the 1st hole of the last 18. On the day event’s will have published competition rules in place for any eventuality, elimination play offs will be decided by the competition committee in advance.
14. Competition prize monies will always be decided on count back.
15. If, in the opinion of the BWGC Committee, it becomes impossible to complete a competition in accordance with that Competition’s Conditions because of adverse weather or other circumstances, the BWGC Committee may vary the Conditions to the extent necessary to achieve a result within the time available. The BWGC Competition Committee’s decisions will be final.
16. The safe and clean return of BWGC Trophies will be the responsibility of the named holder and should usually be returned to the Vice- Captain before the Presentation evening.
*BWGC Members’ Fund – This fund belongs to the ‘Registered Golfers’ of Belton Woods Golf Club, for them to administer as they see fit. The fund has no connection with the Hotel.
