Dills’ latest Handlock
http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/55802-handlock
The basic idea behind handlock is to lifetap early and have a huge hand the whole game allowing you to play big threat after big threat. It utilizes 4 giants and some versions run alexstraza, or rag giving them 6 8/8s.
! tricky thing is how to play early when you have the coin. When you go first it’s generally, pass, tap, tap, mountain giant or twilight drake.
Going 2nd you want an Earthen ring or coin Twilight on 3. It’s tougher to get out the early mountain but you still can. Coin + tap turn 1 is actually not terrible if your hand sucks but isn’t always a good play.
When handlock first became a popular deck it didn’t run the big finishing burst combo which is very popular now which is Leeroy, PO + Faceless plus any soulfires for 20-28 damage.
Lately Jaraxxus is coming out of Handlock as you can’t play molten giants after playing him. Also, BGH is going in for the mirror. It may be exiting the meta soon but once BK and BGH stop seeing play then Handlock is back in. It’s been around for a while and is a deck that keeps coming and going based on the current meta.
Crazy Game Stories
Watch out for Charging Leeroys!
Hey furious avians,
I was playing a counterspell mage against a warlock just now. And something completely bullshit just happened.
At first, I thought he was playing a handlock, as he kept lifetapping and was doing really well to control all of my minions. At turn 11-12, I was still at full health, with 4 minions against his empty board. He had 8 health left, and I was sure I could finish him next turn with a pair of fireballs. He drops Leeroy and uses power overwhelming on him. In my head, I'm thinking "Oh, he's just showing me what he had in his hand." He drops another power overwhelming, making it a 14/10. Then, with the coin that he held on to, God-knows-how, he drops a faceless manip on it for 2 14/10s. He hit me with a soulfire for 32 damage in one turn.
My chair knocked over a cup and broke it because I stood up so fast yelling "What the F*** just happened?!"
Love the show. Watch out for charging Leeroys.

SCIENCE!
Greetings from Tash!
I was playing a mage using my Zoolock deck and we were both at less than ten health. I had a Knife Juggler on the board as well as another minion. The mage dropped a LEEROYYYY on me and I watched with glee as each of the whelps I was given caused my Knife Juggler to send a dagger to poor Leeroy's face, killing him before his valuable Charge could be used. I emoted "Sorry," and promptly dropped a Defender of Argus between the two whelps and used them to send the finishing blow to my opponent. He must have been cursing his lack of SCIENCE! knowledge and his bad luck as he had spent 4 mana putting a Legendary on the board that did nothing but win the game for ME.
Be warned: whelps from Leeroy count as your opponent "summoning" a minion.
All the Gold!
Hey TAC crew,
I was trying out a new deck at rank 18 and went up against this Priest whose deck was all gold. The hero wasn't gold but EVERY other card was. On top of that they dropped, Pagle, Harrison Jones, Hogger, Ysera, Illidan, Deathwing and I think even a Rag. ALL GOLDEN! I only had one lonely Ysera in my deck. I have no idea what else they might have had, I lost the game. What annoyed me was the gaudiness of the deck, I felt like someone dropped a TON of money on this just to show off. It did help me realize I didn't put a BGH in my deck.
Thanks Crew, Kasch (aka Mike)
Emails
Got a lot of emails about this, so I picked the two best for a general email discussion topic: Profession Spells!
Sean
Greetings my favourite creditable card collectors! Sean here from England here to offer a suggestion after hearing your discussion about neutral spells in Hearthstone. Instead of simply having neutral spells, you could have Professions mirroring those in World of Warcraft which are sub-classes.
For example, you could be a Warrior Blacksmith or a Warlock with First Aid. This I think would allow for a huge variety of decks and make some previously underrated classes have other options to cover their weak points. Each profession could have a theme, for example Fishing could be card draw, First aid could be healing, Blacksmith could allow you to have cards which create weapons or add armor etc. etc. Personally I think a good way to handle them would be either a set of "Profession Cards" which are similar to class cards, or to have a single-use second hero ability. For example First Aid could add a single use heal, whereas Blacksmith could equip a weapon or add armor, Fishing to draw a card etc. These would not be as powerful as Hero Abilities but they could help certain classes out of a tight spot, such as a Skinning allowing you to destroy one of your beasts to draw several cards. I think the possibilities with this idea is endless and I am interested in hearing your opinions on the idea.
Keep up the great work, cluckers and may the heart of the cards be with you!
Sean, all the way from England.
Ember
Dear Jocelyn, Dills, and Garrett,
I was just listening to the Episode 30 e-mail questions about the possibility of neutral spells and it made me think about engineering themed cards that could provide the “feel” of neutral spells. Perhaps a warrior could use a net thrower on a minion that would have an effect similar to freezing. A rogue could use a transmogrifier that would be similar to a hex. A shaman could use a grenade that would work like to explosive shot. It would be cool if they could work this into something broader like profession cards. There could be sets of 4-8 cards representing each profession and you could put a limited number of a *single* profession type into your deck. In addition to engineering, you could derive some inspiration from alchemy (minion buffs, healing potions) and blacksmithing (weapon and armor upgrades). Leatherworking and tailoring…maybe not so much (“I cast Pearlescent Spellthread on Cairne Bloodhoof!”). Blizzard would need to limit their usage so that you didn’t enable players to homogenize all the hero classes, but it could provide an additional set of customization for players. What do you think? Thank you for a great show and keep up the wonderful work!
Regards,
Ember (AKA Brian)
